Fujifilm announced its point-and-shoot XQ1 and its mid-tier X-E2 earlier this month as two products that help expand its popular X Series. So without further ado, let’s take a look at how both cameras performed from our short time with them. (more…)

Fujifilm XQ1 Hands-On: A Canon Clone With Better Guts

Fujifilm XQ1 Hands-On: A Canon Clone With Better Guts

Maybe it’s no surprise that when Fujifilm’s first advanced pocket camera fell flat, they turned to proven designs for the basis of it’s second try. I just played with Fuji’s new XQ1, and I could believe It wasn’t a Canon S120. But just because it’s familiar on the outside, doesn’t mean it’s got the same stuff inside.

Fujifilm X-E2 interchangeable lens camera boasts fastest-ever auto focus

Following on the heels of the Fujifilm XQ1 compact digital camera recently announced, the camera maker has also introduced the interchangeable lens X-E2. With this camera comes the ability to swap out lenses for more demanding photography needs, bringing along an APS-C sized variety of the X-Trans CMOS II 16.3-megapixel sensor. In addition to the […]

Fujifilm XQ1 compact digital camera unveiled with “premium” features

Fujifilm has introduced its smallest offering in its X Series, the Fujifilm XQ1 compact digital camera. The device maker is referring to the XQ1 as a “premium” camera, giving photographers a pocket-sized shooter with a sensor much larger than what you’d find in most digital cameras of comparable size. The camera is being launched alongside […]

Fujifilm XQ1 Is Smallest X Series Shooter Yet

Fujifilm XQ1 Is Smallest X Series Shooter YetDoes size matter? I guess the answer to that particular question really depends on the kind of context that you ask it in, and this time around, we have the smallest sized X Series shooter from Fujifilm just yet – where it will be known as the Fujifilm XQ1. This pocket-sized XQ1 will come with a newly developed F1.8 4× zoom lens as well as a similar 2/3” X-Trans CMOS II sensor, where it will also be accompanied by an EXR Processor II which also saw action in the Fujifilm X20.

In a nutshell, the Fujifilm XQ1′s sensor size would be able to more or less be double those found in ordinary compact digital cameras, allowing it to deliver the world’s fastest AF speed at 0.06 seconds, for its class. With a chassis that measures 100mm x 58.5mm x 33.3, it is also one of the most “pocketable” advanced cameras in the market, but that does not mean that Fujifilm has compromised on its quality.

Other specifications of the Fujifilm XQ1 include 12-megapixel sensor that controls moiré and false color generation without having to have an optical low pass filter. To keep up with the times, the Fujifilm XQ1 will also feature built-in wireless connectivity, where it can transfer all of your captured images sans wires from the Fujifilm XQ1 to your compatible smartphone or tablet after the free Fujifilm Camera Application app has been installed. Any takers for the Fujifilm XQ1? We do hope to hear more about its pricing details soon. [Press Release]

Fujifilm X-E2 Interchangeable Lens Camera Announced

Fujifilm X E2 Interchangeable Lens Camera AnnouncedIs it me, or do all of the camera manufacturers band together and collaborate as to when they would roll out a particular model to the masses? This is exactly that seems to be happening, as the folks over at Fujitsu have announced the launch of the new and stylish Fujifilm X-E2, which is a premium interchangeable lens camera that will feature the latest APS-C X-Trans CMOS II sensor alongside what they deem to be the world’s fastest AF speed.

Continuing from where the Fujifilm X-E1 left off, the X-E2 is said to be able to bring image quality to a whole new level which some less seasoned folks might think that it is comparable with full-frame cameras. Touting an AF speed of 0.08 seconds, this is made possible thanks to the faster processing speed of the EXR Processor II. Apart from that, it will also be able to harness the information that was taken from over 100,000 phase detection pixels which has been incorporated in the X-Trans CMOS II. As for the hybrid AF, it will also combine phase detection AF and contrast AF to deliver an unprecedented level of accuracy when you shoot in low-contrast subjects and dark scenes.

This 16.3-megapixel shooter will also feature a 3” LCD display, an integrated pop-up flash, ISO200 – 6400, extended ISO 100, 12800, 25600, Auto (maximum ISO setting from ISO 400 – ISO6400 available), Full HD movie recording capability and being able to capture up to 350 shots or so on a full battery charge. Pricing details have yet to be determined as at press time. [Press Release]

Fujifilm XQ1: Fuji's New Tiny Cam Packs Tons of Power in Your Pocket

When Fujifilm announced its beautiful pocket camera, the XF1 last year, we were genuinely psyched, which made the camera’s disappointing handling even more of a bummer.
