In an attempt to end speculation surrounding the popularity of its Galaxy Gear, Samsung has shared its smartwatch sales figures for the first time, and they might surprise you. Reuters reports that the company’s Android-powered wearable has sold 800,000 units since its launch in September, surpassing its own expectations and setting straight recent reports that pegged worldwide South Korean sales at 50,000 units.
To stimulate sales, Samsung has offered plenty of incentives to buy the Galaxy Gear by bundling it with the Galaxy Note 3, with some UK carriers offering the smartwatch for free if they purchased the 5.7-inch smartphone on a two-year contract. Samsung believes the Gear is now the “most sold wearable watch available in the marketplace,” which, if true, would put it ahead of efforts from Pebble and Sony. As the holidays approach, the company says it will offer more Galaxy Gear promotions as it builds out future support for more of its smartphones, adding to its recent software update that brought all of your notifications to the device.
Update: The Verge reports that while Reuters is noting consumer sales, Korean publication Yonhap believes Samsung may actually be reporting shipments to retailers. The same report also suggested Samsung’s 50,000 “worldwide” Gear sales were in South Korea only.
Sometimes, it pays to look out for tiny small details in life, as it is more often than not these little details which have been overlooked that have proven to be the downfall for many. On a far more positive note, sniffing out little details will also allow one to come to some pre-conceived conclusions based on existing information, such as the latest snippets from Zauba. Zauba happens to be a website which will keep track of imports as well as exports to and from India, where according to the site, there has been a shipment from Delhi Air Cargo that sported a pair of mobile devices, and these featured the model number SM-P601.
It might sound close to the SM-N601 that we talked about sometime at the end of last month, where that was speculated to be a Galaxy Tab 10” successor. This particular information gleaned from such a document this time around seemed to point to a smaller version of an existing model, which would mean speculation abounds as to whether it is a new Galaxy Note Mini tablet or not. After all, do you think that any device with a 5.25” display can be deemed as “Mini”? I suppose when the “parent” device comes with a 10” display, that would be justified.
Hopefully, additional light on the SM-P601 will be shed in due time, and we simply cannot wait for that to happen.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Review
Posted in: Today's ChiliIn the Galaxy Note 3 you’ll find the re-solidification of the idea that this device category was both invented by and continues to be piloted by Samsung. You wont find this company resting on its laurels when it comes to adding and refining both software features and hardware bits and pieces. This is easily the […]
How do you measure success? It really depends on which angle you are approaching the situation from. For the folks over at Samsung, they think that the Galaxy Note range has been quite a success over the years since the first model was launched, passing the 40 million mark easily. Andy Tu, Samsung’s general manager for Taiwan, recently shared that interesting statistic at the Galaxy Note 3’s launch in Taiwan, touting that the original Galaxy Note actually shifted 10 million units, while the sequel, the Galaxy Note 2 moved another 30 million units worldwide. This does beg the question – just how many models of the Galaxy Note 3 will be sold worldwide eventually?
This just goes to show that the phablet industry has a pretty bright future. After all, with such mobile devices getting more and more powerful, it makes perfect sense to display all those apps on a screen which has a far larger viewing real estate compared to a mere 4” display. Hopefully the Galaxy Note 3 will not crumble under the pressure for it to perform exceptionally well when it finally hits the market. Unfortunately, we have heard that local carriers in South Korea have reported some disappointing figures for the Galaxy Note 3′s pre-order. Will you be picking one up when it arrives in your territory?

If you’ve been looking to get your hands on Samsung’s new Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Gear, boom, they’re here. The company has kicked off another of its world tours to announce availability of its 5.7-inch smartphone and new smartwatch in 58 countries. In the UK, an unlocked Galaxy Note 3 will set you back £649 but it’s also available on nearly all of the major carriers (we’re still waiting to hear from Three) — starting at around £30 on a traditional contract, or free if you decide to sign up to a new early-upgrader tariff. The Galaxy Gear retails at £299, but Samsung thinks you could use a £100 discount if you bundle it with an unlocked Galaxy Note 3, for a total cost of £848. Customers in the US, Canada and Japan, however, will have to wait ’til October — though pre-orders are already open.
