Samsung Galaxy S4 Outsold HTC One 4:1

Samsung Galaxy S4 Outsold HTC One 4:1 The original HTC One (M7) was more than just a decent smartphone – it was a high end flagship device that deserved its plaudits, but unfortunately, there was a perception issue with the brand that most probably limited its sales figure, registering sales of 5 million units within its first two months of availability. While that might sound impressive, relatively speaking, it fared poorly against the Samsung Galaxy S4 who outsold it by a whopping four times. We are talking about 20 million sold units within the same time window, at least according to recently published data.

Bloomberg has gotten hold of sales statistics concerning the 2013 flagships from Samsung and HTC respectively, and if you were to take Apple’s iPhone 5 in comparison, that handset did pretty well for itself too, at least better than the HTC One (M7) – selling a whopping 5 million units within the first five days of availability.

It does seem as though Samsung is king when it comes to high end Android-powered devices, which is not surprising at all considering the marketing budget of the South Korean conglomerate. Well, with the Samsung Galaxy S5 edging out the Galaxy S4 for its launch day sales figures, it would be interesting to find out some time down the road the total sales of the Galaxy S5 within the first fortnight.

Verizon Galaxy S4 KitKat Release Expected May 2nd

verizon-galaxy-s4-kitkat

Even though Google released Android 4.4 KitKat last year it has still taken carriers a lot of time to roll out the latest update for their customers. In the U.S. Verizon is one of the few carriers that still haven’t released KitKat for the Samsung Galaxy S4. That might be about to change in the near future though. A purported leaked internal memo from Big Red reads that Verizon Galaxy S4 KitKat update release is going to take place on May 2nd.

It should be kept in mind though that Verizon still hasn’t confirmed anything as far as KitKat for its Galaxy S4 variant is concerned. The carrier only recently released this very update for the LG G2. Until Big Red confirms the date we can’t be sure of it, so even if you mark your calendars for May 2nd, be prepared to be let down.

For the impatient lot there’s always the option to go down the road filled with custom ROMs. Already there are a plethora of custom Android 4.4 KitKat based ROMs for the Galaxy S4. The flashing process might be unnerving for folks who haven’t done it before, and since there’s always the risk of bricking your device, its best to only go that way if you absolutely know what you’re doing.

Samsung Galaxy S5 Is Surprisingly Durable In Drop Test

While Samsung might be boasting about the Galaxy S5’s IP67 rating which makes it both water resistant and dustproof, they did not mention anything about durability, but then again the Galaxy S5 was not designed to be a rugged phone so we can only assume that if it were to be dropped or run over by a car, you’d probably have to go get yourself a new one.

That being said, the folks over at TechSmartt have decided to put the Galaxy S5 through a drop test and compare it again the Samsung Galaxy S4, its predecessor. Now both phones are made from plastic, although in the case of the Galaxy S5, it features a textured back similar to the Galaxy Note 3 albeit with a different feel, so there’s nothing about the phone that would make it more rugged.
