Samsung Galaxy S4 appears to gain 3D Camera tech

It would appear that Samsung will be connecting their Smart TV and smartphone universes once again with the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the possibility of 3D video and photo capture. Though we’ve not specifically seen the device and it’s camera working in-the-flesh quite yet, a patent filed just a few days ago by the company whose Smart 3D TV segment is already live and in-action may be too good not to be true. This and the possibility of the first appearance of Samsung’s next-generation “Octa” Exynos processor under the hood are making the Galaxy S4 a smartphone that’s not to be missed.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 has been tipped to be coming with a 4.9-inch display with AMOLED technology flavored with a bit of futuristic tech that’ll make it about 30% brighter than past iterations. Call that Green PHOLED if you dare. The display is set to be rolling out with a massive 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution too, this making the device a beastly 440PPI – so sharp it’ll cut your eyeballs apart.

invite

The Samsung Exynos 5 Octa quad-core processor has been tipped several times for the Galaxy S4. With that and the smooth excellence of Android 4.2 Jelly Bean as well as Samsung’s own TouchWiz in its newest iteration, this device will be a beast when it comes to futuristic mobile computing. Then there’s the camera.

patent

Today’s tip from PatentBolt suggests that the Samsung Galaxy S4 will be working with some form of 3D camera action. With the “2D to 3D” sort of logo appearing in trademark form today connected with the following text, the Galaxy S4 coming with 3D processing technology has become a real possibility. We’re not going to see a double-camera situation like we did with past 3D-capable smartphones, instead we’ll be seeing post-shot processing (if we see any such 3D abilities at all, that is).

“Application software for smart phones; application software for tablet computers; digital cameras; USB flash drives; mobile telephones; portable media players; portable computers; rechargeable batteries; smart phones; tablet computers; wireless headsets; lenses for cameras.”

BONUS: You’ll notice the 3D logo is an ever-so-slight modification of Samsung’s previous 3D logo used on their Smart TV line – as seen in our recent Samsung UN55ES8000 55-inch Smart TV Review, too!

samsung-smarttv-tv-15-580x386

If you’ll have a peek at the logo and compare the ever-so-slight 3D-looking “4″ in the invite for the event for the device coming up this week, you’ll find yourself wondering. Could the Galaxy S4 be bringing on 3D technology without a double-dose of camera lens action? We’ll see on the 14th – SlashGear will be in NYC to bring you the full story!

Samsung Galaxy S4 Multiple Colors Hinted At In Latest Teaser Video

We’re not sure who exactly this Jeremy Maxwell character is Samsung decided to highlight in their teaser videos, but we have been quite envious of him for the past couple of days as he’s one of the first people to lay eyes on the Galaxy S4.

Last week, Jeremy took a trip to New York City to take a look at the Galaxy S4, which may or may not have blinded him considering the bright flash of light that came out of the box when it was opened. This week, Jeremy takes the Galaxy S4 to his home, where he deflects his neighbor’s questions of “What’s in the box?”

During the video, Jeremy makes a number of comments in regards to the Galaxy S4, saying “it’s pretty irresistible,” “it’s unreal,” and “beautiful.” Later on in the video, he hints the Galaxy S4 may be offered in a wide variety of colors as he says, “It’s my favorite color.” The Galaxy S3 was only available in white or pebble blue, which if the S4 does come in multiple colors, could become a device anyone could find in their favorite color.

Samsung’s weird little kid is back to tease the Galaxy S IV

Remember about a week ago when Samsung teased us with a video featuring a weird little kid (at least that’s what we’re calling him) with a box? He’s back yet again for part deux in Samsung’s “Unpacked” teaser video series. This time, the kid takes the box home to get a better look at what’s inside, but all we see is still just more glowing.

Screen Shot 2013-03-11 at 9.45.55 AM

After getting a peak inside the box at Samsung headquarters, the boy executive takes the box home in anticipation to get a better look at the shiny item that rests inside, but not after being chased down by a love interest and annoyed by his mother who brings him Oreo cookies. Of course, that’s where part two ends and we’re left with yet another “to be continued.”

However, we can only assume that the Galaxy S IV is comfortably nestled inside the box, as that’s what seems to be the consensus here, but we’ll ultimately have to wait and find out on March 14 to see what Samsung comes up with. Our guess is that we’ll see the boy executive on stage with that mysterious white box, where a Samsung exec will pull out the phone to show to all.

Of course, the announcement will come two weeks after Mobile World Congress, one of the world’s largest trade shows specifically focusing on mobile devices, but while Samsung made an appearance at the show, announcing a couple new products, they’ve decided to wait a couple of weeks to announce their flagship product. We’ll be there at Samsung’s event on Thursday giving you the play-by-play. Stay tuned!

Samsung Galaxy S4 Will Launch With A Dual SIM Version [Rumor]

Samsung Galaxy S4 Will Launch With A Dual SIM Version [Rumor]Earlier today we reported on alleged leaked photos of the Samsung Galaxy S4, or according to the model number in the photos, the GT-i9502. While it remains to be seen whether that device is indeed the Galaxy S4, the folks at SamMobile have confirmed that according to their sources, the Galaxy S4 will launch with a dual SIM version which will be known as the Galaxy S4 DUOS. This alleged dual SIM version will be available only in China for Chinese carrier, China Unicom. Apart from that added dual SIM feature, we expect that the rest of the device should be the same, which according to the rumors will come with a quad-core chipset, 2GB of RAM, a 4.99” Full HD AMOLED display, a 13MP camera and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean running the show. Either way we guess we will have to wait until the 14th of March before all is revealed, so check back with us then for the details!

Samsung GT-i9502 Photos Leaked, Could This Be The Samsung Galaxy S4?

Samsung GT i9502 Photos Leaked, Could This Be The Samsung Galaxy S4?On Thursday Samsung will be taking the wraps off the Samsung Galaxy S4, one of the most anticipated smartphones of the year. While some of its specs have been allegedly leaked and gleaned from a bit of logical deduction, one thing remains a mystery – the design of the phone itself. Well thanks to a post on a Chinese forum alleged photos of a certain Samsung GT-i9502 have been leaked, leading some to speculate that this could be the Samsung Galaxy S4. Upon first glance it looks like the Galaxy S3 and it’s a bit hard to tell without holding the device if it is really a 4.99” display.

However some of the screenshots pictured show the phone’s specs, such as a quad-core processor and a Full HD 1920×1080 display. Of course these could be photoshopped but with the announcement around the corner, there is a good chance that this could be the real thing. At the same time we have to wonder about its design. If you recall not too long ago some alleged Galaxy S4 cases were spotted at CeBIT 2013, and based on that design, it seems that we could look forward to a square-ish design reminiscent of the Galaxy S2, rather than the more curvy Galaxy S3 and the Galaxy Note 2.

Either way we only have a few days to go before the unveiling, so what do you guys make of this? Real or fake?

Samsung Galaxy S4 set to disintegrate HTC One before it launches

So you’ve heard about the Samsung Galaxy S4, and you’re excited for the launch of the HTC One, but you’ve realized that you can’t have both. What do you do? You have a peek at a list of possible specifications for the Samsung device, dig your fingernails into your kneecaps in anticipation of the launch of both that and the HTC One, and hold on tight. There’s a chance that one of the two won’t be in stores for long.

htc_one_live_sg_181-580x398

While we’ve seen the HTC One live and in-person more than one time before – both at the launch and during Mobile World Congress 2013 – there’s something about it that just doesn’t click. Can you guess what it is? If today’s report from Android Community is right, it’s the camera. But that’s not what we were thinking here – instead that one crucial element was – and will be – the face that the phone is not going to be out for sale with enough time between its launch and the launch of the Galaxy S4.

bottoms_gcompare-580x445

There won’t be enough time for the HTC One to grab hold of the public conscious for it to be popular enough to overcome the allure of the most powerful Android-toting brand on the market today: Galaxy. Samsung has done so well with the Galaxy brand over the past few years that the Galaxy S, Galaxy S II, and Galaxy S III have been best-sellers consecutively. And the Galaxy Note line hasn’t been doing too bad itself.

So what does HTC lack that Samsung has? What will douse HTC in a hot mess called irrelevancy?

Samsung’s advertising cash.

If Samsung can do one thing right (and we know they can do more than one thing right), it’s public advertising on the part of their mobile devices. The Samsung brand name is synonymous with cool at this point in history and, based on last years’ ads and the court cases that continue through today, we know they’re the biggest guns up against Apple’s dominance in the mobile market with the iPhone and the iPad.

28200453_VvCjxD-61-580x435

If HTC had the backing at this point to out-show Samsung with television ad spots and billboards across the country, not to mention online banners and whatnot, would they be geared up and ready for Samsung’s Galaxy S4 launch? I say yes, very possibly.

side-580x326

So which device should you buy – the HTC One or the Galaxy S4? I suppose it all depends on which device you find more appealing. Forget the specification comparisons, forget which device runs the newest version of Android, forget all of that. You’ll see sales follow the brand power. HTC needs to release the HTC One now, and plow through the little time they have left before the Galaxy S4 hits the market – or forever hold their un-sold handsets.

Samsung Galaxy S4 specifications list expands with Note-like features

This week we’ve seen so many Samsung Galaxy S4 rumors and tips that it’ll made your head spin, including today’s information on how the next-generation smartphone will be bringing a whole new display technology to the game. In addition to bringing forth an AMOLED display with what’s being called “green PHOLED” technology, this device is said today to be ushering in additional bridges between the S and Note lineup. While we’ll have to wait until the 14th of this month – next week- to see the final product, the Samsung Galaxy S4 is shaping up to be quite the hard-hitter here in the interim!

samsung_galaxy_s4_teaser_1-580x323

This tip is coming straight from SamMobile where their tipster appears to have information about the Samsung Galaxy S4 that begins with floating touch. This feature was seen previously in the device known as XPERIA Sola and is actively moving the Galaxy S IV (or S4, however you prefer) closer to the Note lineup with the ability to use your finger as a more active player in your note-taking activities. You’ll also be using your finger to expand notifications by hovering – and you’ll likely be working with an advanced version of Flipboard while you’re at it.

4go-1

Have a peek at the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 to see how Flipboard will be ushering in a whole new generation of apps that use hovering technology – sensing, that is – to expand your world. The Samsung Galaxy S4 is also being tipped this week – once again – to be coming with features such as Smart Scroll and Smart Pause, these being expansions of the features you know as Smart Stay and Smart Rotation, based on your eyes being sensed by your device – cool beans!

This set of tips also notes that “green PHOLED” will be what they’re calling absolutely revolutionary. They’re saying that green PHOLED uses color GREEN-YELLOW to make the display 25% more efficient than past AMOLED units. That’s good for battery life, mind you, as well as your eyeballs – if they want light so bright that your head explodes, of course.

Have a peek at the timeline below for more information on the Samsung Galaxy S4 and stick with us up through the 14th – next week – where we’ll be in New York City to bring the whole unveiling event straight to your face!

Even More Samsung Galaxy S4 Details Revealed?

Even More Samsung Galaxy S4 Details Revealed? This coming March 14th is definitely going to be a showstopper right in the middle of the Big Apple, as South Korean conglomerate Samsung prepares to take the wraps off their latest flagship smartphone, known as the Samsung Galaxy S4. Of course this will be an event where the whole world basically stops to see what the next generation iPhone rival would bring along with it, especially after Samsung decided to skip Mobile World Congress as the announcement point.

So far, there has been scant details concerning the Samsung Galaxy S4, and whatever alleged photos and screenshots of it have been touted to be fake. Well, until March 14th arrives, what we have are just rumors and speculation, with the latest source touting that the Samsung Galaxy S4 will arrive with a 5” AMOLED display, in addition to what is most likely a 13-megapixel camera at the back with a 2-megapixel front-facing shooter. Apart from that, do keep your fingers crossed that word of an octa-core processor will also ring true for an industry leading flagship.

Alleged Samsung Galaxy S4 Cases Spotted At CeBIT 2013

Alleged Samsung Galaxy S4 Cases Spotted At CeBIT 2013We’re sure many of you guys are curious as to what the Samsung Galaxy S4 looks like, but so far it seems that Samsung has done a good job curbing leaks and whatnot, so we guess we will have to wait until the 14th of March for the rundown. However in the meantime, the folks at MobileGeeks have discovered at CeBIT 2013 a series of smartphone cases which apparently have been designed for the Galaxy S4 in mind. Manufactured by a Chinese company by the name of My Living, the manufacturer claims that the case design was based on leaked specifications, and for their sake we hope that their source provided them with some sound leaks!

Taking a look at the purported Galaxy S4 case compared to the Galaxy S3, it seems that previous mockups of the device might not have been too far off the mark. The design reveals a more boxy shape compared to the Galaxy S3 which is pretty curvy by comparison. If the rumors are true about a 4.99” display, having such a boxy design certainly doesn’t seem too appealing, but like we said earlier, we will have to wait for Samsung to officially announce the device before we can make a proper judgment. In any case what do you guys think so far?

Samsung Galaxy S4 prototype case gets fat and sharp

All the way from China we’re having a glance at a set of prototype cases for the Samsung Galaxy S4, a smartphone device that’s set to be unveiled in just a week’s time. As it is quite often with releases such as this, the Samsung Galaxy S IV (or S4, whichever you like) is said to have had its basic physical specifications leaked to case-makers so that they might create protective bits and pieces for the hardware available when the device launches. While this situation can sometimes give us a healthy dose of early understanding, it can just as easily be a completely false scent – so keep that in mind!

fourup

The cases you see above come from MobileGeeks where they’ve gotten information from the case manufacturers themselves on the origin of the design. As the folks at MyLiving have let it be known that they’ve gotten information on the build of the Galaxy S4 straight from Foxconn, there is a real possibility that they are, indeed, legitimate. Foxconn is a manufacturing chain that over the past few years has become famous for putting together some of the most high-profile gadgets in the mobile industry.

What we can glean from these cases (the two black cases, that is), is that this Galaxy S machine may be working with a slightly less organic look than the Galaxy S III had. The salmon-colored case above is made for a Galaxy S III and the blue device to the left of the whole pack is, indeed, a Galaxy S III in the flesh. The Galaxy S4 appears to be essentially the same height as the Galaxy S III with a bit more bulk around the edges and, though you can’t tell from this photo, both cases appear to be made for devices with essentially the same thickness.

samsung_galaxy_s_iii11

Several elements wash over from the Galaxy S III like the necessity for three holes right up top of the back on the case – one for a camera lens, one for a camera flash, the third for a speaker. The appearance of a power button hole on the case in the same place and the volume button also appearing in essentially the same space on the opposite side of the phone are also really rather indicative of Samsung sticking to its guns with how they intend you to tap on this smartphone.

samsung_galaxy_s4_case_leak_3

You’ll also notice that these case designs bear exceeding resemblance to the cases leaked last month courtesy of MobileFun. Either this is what the Galaxy S4 will be shaped like, or there’s a real trickster out there poking fun at the case manufacturers one by one – we shall see!
