Boost And Virgin Mobile To Offer Galaxy S5

Boost And Virgin Mobile To Offer Galaxy S5

Previously it used to take a lot of time for premium smartphones to make their way to prepaid carriers. Those carriers usually had low-end or mid-range phones on offer, and not premium phones the kind customers would find on major national carriers such as Verizon and AT&T. Though things have been shaken up a bit in the past year with more such devices landing at prepaid carriers. The Galaxy S5 is one of the biggest flagships of this year, and it has already been revealed that Samsung’s latest smartphone is going to make its way to Boost Mobile and Virgin Mobile soon after launch.

Galaxy S5 Priced In UK And Spain, Not As Cheap As We Thought

Galaxy S5 Priced In UK And Spain, Not As Cheap As We ThoughtBefore the announcement of the Samsung Galaxy S5, there were rumors surrounding the handset with regards to its price, suggesting that the handset could be priced cheaper than its predecessor and the competition.

Given that hardware on most of the flagship phones we’ve seen at MWC 2014 is more or less the same, we guess price is one way of attracting customers to your product apart from differentiating features. Well it seems that either retailers did not get the memo or that the rumors were wrong, because it looks like the Galaxy S5 has been priced and it does not sound cheap at all. (more…)

Galaxy S5′s Waterproof Feature Does Not Worry Sony

Galaxy S5s Waterproof Feature Does Not Worry SonyBack in 2013, Sony unveiled the Xperia Z, which at that time was the company’s flagship handset. While the Xperia Z packed some pretty impressive hardware, there were a couple of features that made it stand out from the rest of the competition – waterproof and dustproof.

While we doubt these are features that many customers base their decisions on, it is a pretty handy feature especially in those “oops” moments when you drop the phone in the pool, the toilet, or where it might get wet in the rain. This is a feature Sony carried on to its other products, including the Xperia Z2.

However it turns out that waterproof and dustproof are features Samsung decided to introduce to its latest Galaxy S5 as well. With the popularity of the Galaxy S series, does Sony have something to worry about? Ravi Nookala, President of Sony Mobile Communications USA, doesn’t seem to think so. (more…)

Galaxy S5′s Fingerprint Scanner Will Be Open To Developers

Galaxy S5s Fingerprint Scanner Will Be Open To DevelopersWhen Apple announced the iPhone 5s, one of the key features of the handset was its Touch ID fingerprint sensor. As the sensor could be used to unlock the phone and make purchases on the iTunes App Store, it is understandable that Apple did not want developers accessing the Touch ID sensor, even if it meant that its functionality would be somewhat limited.

In fact Apple got a lot of flack over the security of Touch ID, where a US Senator even wrote to Tim Cook questioning him about the security of fingerprint storage. However it seems that despite all those concerns, Samsung has decided to open up its fingerprint scanner on the Galaxy S5 to developers. This is according to the company who announced their decision at MWC 2014. (more…)

Oppo Teases Find 7, Says Its Better Than Galaxy S5

Oppo Teases Find 7, Says Its Better Than Galaxy S5

China’s Oppo has been teasing its upcoming flagship smartphone for quite some time now, and it too has taken some time out to take a swing at the Samsung Galaxy S5. Soon after the flagship was unveiled, HTC mocked the lack of radical changes and conveyed to the world in a not so subtle manner to look out for its new smartphone, which will be unveiled on March 25th. Oppo has done something along the same line, releasing yet another Oppo Find 7 teaser, but one that takes an obvious swing at the Galaxy S5.

Metal Galaxy S5 With Improved Specs Expected After HTC M8 Launch

One would think that rumors about the Galaxy S5 will now finally bite the dust, considering the fact that Samsung has formally unveiled its flagship, but the rumor mill doesn’t seem to be in the mood just yet. Since last year we have been hearing rumors that Samsung may release two different variants of its 2014 flagship, a premium variant and a standard, and if these rumors hold any weight, what the company has recently announced may just be the standard variant.

New HTC One Teased On YouTube

At first it was expected that HTC would unveil its 2014 flagship at the Mobile World Congress 2014 in Barcelona. Apparently the company didn’t want Samsung’s Galaxy S5 to steal its thunder, which is presumably why it has scheduled a separate event for March 25th in New York and London where it will finally lift the wraps off the HTC One successor. The company has been doing its bit in building hype for the next flagship, and it has uploaded a new teaser on YouTube.
