Galaxy S5 Variant With Octa-Core Chipset Revealed

Galaxy S5 Variant With Octa Core Chipset RevealedSo just yesterday Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S5, one of the more highly-anticipated smartphones of 2014. The hardware features of the handset were as usual pretty high-end, but interestingly enough Samsung did not make any mention regarding the use of their own Exynos chipsets.

According to the announcement, the handset would be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core chipset clocked at 2.5GHz, but now thanks to a recent infographic released by Samsung on their website, it turns that there will be an octa-core variant of the Galaxy S5. (more…)

HTC Thinks Galaxy S5 Owners Will Have Buyer’s Remorse

HTC Thinks Galaxy S5 Owners Will Have Buyers RemorseSo the Samsung Galaxy S5 was recently announced with relatively brand new hardware and a somewhat similar design to its predecessor. Those aren’t bad things since previous Galaxy S devices have been proven to be quite a hit, but what if you wanted something new and different? What if you were a little bit tired of the Galaxy S lineup? Well HTC seems to think that perhaps Galaxy S5 owners might soon start to feel a bit of buyer’s remorse come 25th of March. According to a recent tweet by HTC, the company posted the image above in which it reads that “Buyer’s remorse: Coming soon to S5 owners.” There is also a date at the bottom for the 25th of March which is when the HTC M8 will be officially revealed.

Now we should note that the Galaxy S5 will only be released in April, so we’re thinking that HTC might have jumped the gun here, but then again perhaps per-orders could begin in March so perhaps there might be some truth to HTC’s claims. With this tweet, we can also understand why HTC has decided to hold back on its launch and not do it at MWC. After all by taking a look at the competition, they will be more prepared in terms of marketing its upcoming handset, pointing out features that the competition might not. Nokia has done similarly poked fun at the Galaxy S5 in a tweet of their own. Will the HTC M8 be able to outdo the Samsung Galaxy S5 this year? We guess we will have to wait and see. In the meantime what do you guys think of HTC’s latest ad?

Nokia Pokes Fun At The Galaxy S5

Nokia Pokes Fun At The Galaxy S5 So earlier today Samsung announced the long-awaited and highly-anticipated Samsung Galaxy S5. Unfortunately it seems that some of the rumors did not pan out as we did not see a QHD display, although some of it did pan out, like the fact that it would be waterproof and dustproof and would pack a fingerprint sensor. Overall there were some who thought that perhaps the Galaxy S5 was boring, as some had hoped and thought that the handset would be revolutionary in terms of its hardware and design. That being said, it seems that Nokia thinks so as well as they have recently tweeted the photo above.

As you can see in the image above, it reads, “Not the Samesung,” which some have taken to mean that Nokia was not impressed with the Samsung Galaxy S5, and how for the most part its design has been kept relatively similar to its previous handsets. The photo also appears to be promoting Nokia’s own Android efforts in the form of the Nokia X, which in all honesty does look like older Nokia designs as well, but hey, what’s a little friendly ribbing amongst rivals, right? In the meantime what do you guys think? Do you agree that Samsung’s Galaxy S5 is perhaps a little uninspired and that Nokia is right in poking fun at them?

The Samsung Galaxy S5's Killer Camera Feature: Speed

Samsung has never been a leader when it comes to smartphone cameras but with the Galaxy S5, it’s taken a step forward. It has nothing to do with megapixels—instead it’s all about that weird-sounding feature called "phase-detect" autofocus, which allows the camera to focus in just .3 seconds. Samsung claims that’s the fastest in the world, and it could seriously change how you use the camera.
