According to an earlier report, it was suggested that Samsung could be thinking about launching the Galaxy S5 a bit earlier than expected in South Korea. This piece of news was originally reported by the Korea Times but unfortunately Samsung has since come forward and denied that those were indeed their plans.

According to Samsung’s co-CEO, JK Shin, “Samsung hasn’t agreed with SK Telecom for an early release of our GS5 to only SK Telecom customers.” This means that by the look of things, Samsung’s release of the Galaxy S5 could still be on track for a delayed launch in South Korea following a temporary ban by the government. The first week is always crucial for the company as it looks to sell as many units as it possibly can, launch week sales figures make good publicity. But the company faces a dilemma on its home turf, it may not be able to sell Galaxy S5 in Korea until May 19th.

Sprint too has officially confirmed that its going to offer the Samsung Galaxy S5. The carrier will release Samsung’s 2014 flagship on April 11th, the day it hits shelves in over 100 countries around the globe. Sprint Galaxy S5 pre-orders are already underway, though there is a slight caveat. To pre-order or “reserve” their Galaxy S5, customers have to visit a Sprint Store, apparently they can’t do it online. As soon as the device becomes available, customers who have reserved their units will be contacted by the carrier.
