Upsilon Circuit Game Can Be Played Only Once

Upsilon Circuit Game Can Be Played Only OnceWhen it comes to the world of video games, there is always a second chance. Sure, your save file might be wiped out after you have invested hundreds of hours into a particular game, but there remains the option to begin all over again, right from the very beginning. In a sense, “death” within a game never remains as final. Having said that, this has led to a game known as Upsilon Circuit, where it toys with the concept of perma-permadeath.

Alix Stolzer and Calvin Goble shared, “We’ve been thinking a lot about permadeath and permanence. And consequence. Legend of Dungeon has a ton of that. You’ve got one life, you go down in the dungeon. When you die that’s it, you start over. But that’s not enough for us. We’ve been thinking about real consequence. Like, real consequence. Big time, meaningful game experience. Putting the permanence in permadeath,.”

Upsilon Circuit is a single-server, online action role-playing game that sees you involved in a world full of puzzles and monsters, with only a single instance on its lone server. There are only 8 people who can log in at any one time, and out of the 8, only one will play. Each player will get one turn at the dungeon, where they play and make as much impact as possible, before they die. Upon death, Upsilon Circuit will pick a member of the audience to continue, and the water becomes the player. This makes it just about mathematically “impossible” to play the game twice. Do you think that there is potential for a title such as this?

Atari E.T. Landfill Dig Is Finally Happening This Month

So what is the real story with the fate of millions of unsold E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial and Pac-Man video games made for the Atari 2600? They were a big time flop and legend says that tons of unsold copies were dumped into a New Mexico landfill never to be seen again. But no one seems to know if this is fact or just urban legend.

Fuel Entertainment has been trying to get permission to dig up the games for several months, and they finally have a green light. Fuel has acquired the exclusive rights to excavate the landfill, and they took the opportunity to Xbox Entertainment Studios. So now Microsoft is including the dig in a documentary series. This may finally solve an age-old nerd mystery.

They will excavate the burial site on April 26, 2014, and the public is invited to attend. Director Zak Penn will be recording the dig, and people involved with the creation of the E.T. game will even be there. Maybe they can ask them why it sucked so bad. Will they find a massive pit full of games? If they do, how many will they sell as souvenirs? Stay tuned.

Each title is included in alphabetical order. The video for the NES is three hours-long, while the Super Nintendo one is a whopping nine hours-long. With that kind of a time commitment, you might be better off just playing the games. However, it is a nice walk down memory lane.

Do you recognize them all? Sadly, I remember most of them. I must have spent years worth of time playing these games, but I wouldn’t change a thing. Gaming was amazing in those days.

Angry Birds is one of the most popular mobile game franchises of all time. It appears that the word “Epic” was a hint at the next game. Reports have surfaced along with some screen shots that call the new game Angry Birds Epic. The game is rumored to be a narrative, turn-based strategy RPG. If that is accurate, it will be a big change from its traditional game play.

The game will be free to play and will be supported via in-game purchases. Screenshots tease “epic” upgrades that involve upgrades for your characters and more. Those weapons and upgrades are tipped to be items that the player crafts in the game. Unsurprisingly, to speed up the crafting process, gamers are said to be able to purchase the upgrades in the game with real money.
