Nintendo 2DS Gets Sea Green Color
Posted in: Today's ChiliWhen it comes to rolling out a particular product in many different colors as well as livery, you can more or less say that Nintendo is an old hand at such a particular strategy. The even stranger thing is, many people tend to fall for it over and over again. Those of you who happen to own a Nintendo DS Lite – surely you have been tempted at one point or another to actually purchase another DS Lite simply because it comes in a different color, or in a special Pokemon design? Well, the Nintendo 2DS model too, is touted to be on the receiving end of a Sea Green shade this coming June 6th, 2014.
The asking price for the Sea Green Nintendo 2DS when June 6th rolls around would stand at $129.99 a pop, where this handheld console will feature a white front as well as back with sea green accents splashed all over the directional pad, face buttons and stylus. It would mean that the red and blue Nintendo 2DS handheld consoles would now have a third color to join their ranks.
Nothing groundbreaking here, and I do not think that a new color (or even 5 more new colors) will be able to save the Nintendo 2DS from its mediocre existence. [Press Release]

Does Bethesda have a new game that we can look forward to at E3 2014? Maybe, maybe not, but it seems that Amazon is expecting Bethesda to show off something. This is thanks to a listing on Amazon UK’s website where they have listed an entire range of “Bethesda E3 2014 Dummy” games for a variety of platforms.
So far we haven’t really heard anything about possible Bethesda-related announcements, so it is unclear if Amazon UK has been tipped off to something that has yet to be officially announced, like perhaps Bethesda gave them the heads up, or if they’re simply speculating that something could be announced, or if the listings were simply just made in error.
Interestingly enough it seems that one of the listings was made for the Nintendo Wii. Yes, you read that right, the Wii, not the Wii U. This seems to suggest that perhaps the listing was indeed made in error, although there is a good chance that this could be something that has yet to be announced. In any case E3 2014 will be kicking off on the 9th of June, so if you’d like to see if Bethesda has anything to share, do check back with us then for the details!
In the meantime what do you guys think it could be, assuming that there is something due for announcement? However for those who were hoping for Fallout 4, you probably won’t want to hold your breath.

With the popularity of the Fallout franchise, safe to say that there has been a lot of Fallout 4-related rumors in the past couple of years. Back in 2013 the Fallout 4 trademark was filed, and there was even a teaser website which turned out to be a fake. So what’s the deal? Could we be looking forward to a Fallout 4-related announcement soon?
Well it seems like we weren’t the only ones thinking about it, especially with E3 2014 around the corner. One gamer posted the question to Bethesda’s Pete Hines, asking if E3 could be when Fallout 4 be announced. The bad news is that if you were hoping that was the case, prepare to be disappointed.
Hines has since replied in the negative, stating that not only does Bethesda not pre-announce their announcements, but that if you were hoping to hear announcements from Bethesda Games Studio, you’d be in for a wait as it looks like the studio has nothing new to announce for now. Sure, some might think maybe Hines is playing coy, but it was back in February that Bethesda’s head, Todd Howard, stated that they don’t have a timeframe for their next announcement, so it looks like that sentiment will be holding true.
Just like Valve’s Half-Life 3, Bethesda’s Fallout 4 has been eluding gamers for quite a while now, so it is understandable that many gamers are starting to get a bit impatient and want to hear something concrete. In any case E3 will probably be packed full of other announcements, so if Fallout 4 is not in the cards, perhaps something else will be.

Samsung is prepping an Oculus Rift competitor of its own, according to a new report by Engadget. The Korean electronics giant is no stranger to stepping into emerging market categories, and virtual reality appears to be next on the docket, as Samsung is said to be currently building a VR headset with a planned announcement date of this year. The hardware is already with a group of early… Read More
Chuck E. Cheese Testing Oculus Rift
Posted in: Today's ChiliGrowing up, few things on the planet would make me clean the house faster than a promise of Chuck E. Cheese for lunch after I was done with chores. Back in the day, Chuck E. Cheese was one of the biggest arcades around and you could eat pizza and spend coins on arcade games until you went broke.
The restaurant has announced that it will be trialing the Oculus Rift headset in a handful of locations for the next six weeks. Sadly, the trial doesn’t involve letting everyone try the VR gaming headset as a game. Rather it comes as part of a birthday package that puts kids into a virtual ticket booth rather than a real one.
In the virtual ticket grabbing booth, the kids will get to pick up virtual tickets to win prizes. The experience is built inside by the chain’s Ticket Blaster booths, which blow hundreds of tickets around that kids can catch and cash in, but instead of grabbing actual tickets, kids wearing the Oculus Rift grab virtual tickets with their head movements. This sounds like a pretty cool idea, though it’s too bad parents won’t get to try it out.

NVIDIA’s Android based handheld gaming console, the Shield, is due for an update later this year. While it is not known as yet exactly when the company plans on launching a successor, rumors have already started floating around about what we can expect. The latest is accompanied by benchmark results of a Shield 2 prototype. Apparently the next generation handheld console will tout NVIDIA’s own Tegra K1 system-on-chip coupled with a whopping 4GB of RAM.
Assuming that the specifications of this prototype are true, Shield 2 will then surely pack a mean punch. The existing console has a Tegra 4 quadcore processor coupled with 2GB of RAM. One can only imagine the sheer power that would be provided by NVIDIA Tegra K1 with double the RAM.
The previous console had a 5-inch 1,280×720 pixel resolution multi-touch display. While its not known if NVIDIA plans on increasing the size, the benchmark results hint at a possible 1,440×900 pixel resolution display for the Shield 2. Presumably the company wouldn’t want to go past 6-inches to maintain a proper handheld profile, but nothing can be said for sure at this point in time.
No word as yet about NVIDIA’s plans of launching a Shield successor. The company is yet to talk about it so we’ll have to wait for official word on the specifications before we can be truly sure of its power.
