Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 edition) hands-on

Samsung Galaxy Note 101 2014 edition handson

With all the hubbub about the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and the Galaxy Gear, any hype surrounding a new Galaxy Note tablet prior to IFA 2013 was severely downplayed — but worry not, because you’ll be able to get your S-Pen fix with a fresh Note 10.1 regardless. The new version of the tablet device, aptly dubbed the 2014 Edition, reflects the leather-clad design language of its smartphone companion in a much larger package.

We had the opportunity to briefly play with the latest and greatest Note tablet, which will be rolling out globally this quarter in jet black and classic white, though pricing and specific availability is still unknown at this point. We’ve compiled a full gallery of images for you to enjoy below, and then continue past the break to get more of our first impressions.

ASUS Fonepad 7 reboots the massive handset with Intel inside

It would appear that ASUS has had so much success with the first 7-inch smartphone/tablet combination (as revealed earlier this year in the Fonepad) that they’ve brought on a second generation in the Fonepad 7. This device works with a new non-slip finish (where the original was a bit slippery, as it were), HSPA+ 3G […]

Google's iOS Authenticator Update Nuked User Data Before Being Pulled

Google’s updated Authenticator app for iPhone rolled out last night, bringing new retina graphics for iPhone 5 users. Unfortunately, it also brought a nasty little glitch that wiped out user account info, leading Google to pull it from the App Store.

I'd Buy This Google Games Console In A Heartbeat

There’s no such thing as a Google games console. The company has enough on its plate with Android as it is. But if it were to enter the market itself, well, it could do a lot worse than this effort.

Google Authenticator for iOS updated, requires a fresh setup afterwards

Google Authenticator for iOS hits v20, but you'll need to set it up again after updating

Two factor authentication is becoming an increasingly common part of keeping one’s accounts secure online, and Google has just updated its Authenticator app for iOS. Outwardly, version 2.0 brings a new look that matches the style recently seen in other Google apps like Google+, YouTube and Gmail. The app is also retina display and iPhone 5 ready now, however there’s still no native support for the iPad. It still functions the same way, cranking out a login code for users to access their accounts on demand, however there’s one quirk you’ll want to be aware of before pressing the update button. As Steve Streza points out on Twitter (and we experienced ourselves), the new version clears your account details and will need to be paired again before it works. It shouldn’t be too much of a hassle (you did tie your account to a good backup phone number, right?) to get things set up again, but since it’s not mentioned in the changelog consider this a friendly heads-up.

Update: Just so we’re all caught up, Google is aware of the issue and working on a fix. Just as important, it’s pulled the update from the App Store while it works out the kinks to ensure no one else loses their precious Authenticator tokens… even if just temporarily.

Google Glass to get own app store in 2014

Those who have been wishing for an earlier release date for Google’s popular wearable computer might indeed have to wait longer for all the necessary pieces to fall into place. A Google spokesperson has confirmed that a dedicated app store for the Google Glass won’t be available until next year, so it would make very […]

Google Glass App Store Coming This 2014

Google Glass App Store Coming This 2014Sure, Google Glass might have gotten a far more fashionable design at the end of last month (although we do think that the previous design ain’t half bad, either), but this does not mean that the masses are ready to embrace it just yet. The entry cost still remains extremely prohibitive for many of us, since it does not exactly come cheap. Well, the success of a particular hardware platform these days depend more and more on how much support it receives on the software front, and with Google Glass, it is no different either. We have received word that Google Glass would be getting an App Store that it can call its own later this 2014.

According to The New York Times, a Google Glass-optimized app marketplace will debut at an unknown date next year, where a Google representative also confirmed something that is pretty much similar with Marketing Land earlier today. The store has been labeled as “Boutique” in the previous update, but regardless of whether that particular name will remain or not by the time its launch date comes around is debatable. Do you think that a dedicated Google Glass App Store will be able to make the hardware flourish? Maybe Siri has something less to laugh about then.
