Remember the YouTube video responses you never clicked on? They’re going away

Remember the YouTube video responses you never clicked on They're going away

Google’s about to kick another one of its features to the curb, though we doubt there’ll be any pitchforks and torches, à la Reader. Yes, the not-much-beloved “video response” on YouTube is going to Google heaven, apparently because the click-through rate was a pitiful 0.0004 percent. The team suggested using hashtags instead going forward, but you were probably doing that anyway. Because you never used video responses, ever. None of you.

Nexus 4 Gets At Least 25% Price Cut In Select Territories

Nexus 4 Gets At Least 25% Price Cut In Select TerritoriesThe Nexus 4 from Google (which has been manufactured by LG, of course), is a smartphone that is still worth purchasing as it does come with its fair share of processing muscle even until today, although you can be sure that superior hardware specifications have arrived on the high end smartphone scene for the past few months already. Having said that, the LG Nexus 4 will arrive in 8GB and 16GB models, where it retails for $199 and $249, respectively. That will no longer be the case in selected markets, as the Nexus 4 has just been announced to receive at least a 25% discount – and these markets will include the likes of Australia, Canada, Germany, Spain, Korea, and the UK.

In fact, the price points mentioned happen to make the Nexus 4 quite the bargain, since most high end smartphone models in the US start from $200 onwards, and these will arrive with a contract, but with Google’s price points, those are contract-free devices, which would make them extremely attractive propositions to those who want a new smartphone that packs quite a punch, and yet it will not damage your bank account by much. Would you settle for the Nexus 4, or do you want something newer or more recent?

Google+ now says when photos get the Auto Awesome treatment

    Google+ Auto Awesome

The Auto Awesome enhancements in Google+ are great for livening up drab pics and bursts of photos with animations, but you’ve got to dig through your albums to discover if the features were even triggered. That’s no longer an issue in the wake of an update: Google+ now sends notifications whenever it creates Auto Awesome animations, filmstrips and panoramas. The alerts are rolling out today on Android, iOS and the web, so you won’t be left wondering about your photo collection again.

Gmail for iOS nets improved Drive and Google+ integration

Gmail for iOS nets improved Drive and Google integration

Sure, Gmail on iOS was completely redesigned in June, but Mountain View’s just pushed out a fresh update with a few features to polish things off. Version 2.4 of the email app bakes in improved integration with Drive and Google+, making links to the platforms open in their respective apps. Of course, if you’d rather continue following links to the web, the application’s settings can be tweaked accordingly. Rounding out the release is a spruced up attachment system with larger image thumbnails that can be opened up in a full screen mode. To grab the refreshed app, head to the neighboring source link.

YouTube to shelve video responses due to extremely low click-through rate

If you can’t remember that last time you watched a YouTube video response, you’re not the only one. As it turns out, only four out of every one million users who see a video response actually click on it, something that works out to a click-through rate of 0.0004%. Because of this, YouTube has announced […]

    Nexus 4 8GB and 16GB prices slashed

Google has just slashed the rate of its 8GB and 16GB Nexus 4 models in the Play Store by $100, bringing the price down to $199. Such follows closely on the heels of Nexus 5 speculation, not the least of which was a rumor earlier this month that Google would be keeping the same pricing […]

    You can buy a Nexus 4 8GB for $200 and a 16GB for $250 now.

You can buy a Nexus 4 8GB for $200 and a 16GB for $250 now. That’s $100 cheaper than before and a sweet deal considering no additional contract but it’s probably worth mentioning the Nexus 4 is 9 months old now.

    Nexus 4 price drops by $100 to $199 for 8GB, $249 for 16GB (update)

The cheapest unlocked stock Android phone you could buy just got even cheaper: Google has dropped the price of the Nexus 4 8GB to $199 (£159) from $299 (£239), and the 16GB model to $249 (£199) from $349 (£279). It’s fast approaching the anniversary date of the latest Google phone, so the timing is about right for the discount. However, we do wonder if this means a replacement is nigh. After all, Google has yet to introduce the next Nexus successor, and we certainly don’t think the Moto X is all the Mountain View company has to offer. Until then, the Nexus 4 is pretty much the best smartphone deal for stock Android lovers who hate carrier contracts. So if you feel like snatching one up, you had best hit the store link below before it sells out yet again.

Update: The Google Play Twitter account just sent out a tweet stating that the 25 percent discount (or more) applies not only in the US, but also Australia, Canada, Germany, Spain, Korea and the UK. We’ve embedded the tweet after the break.
