Google Barge Moving To StocktonThe Google Barge, which happens to be a floating showroom, did receive its marching orders – or should I say, floating orders, recently, and it is rumored to set sail for its new home, which would see it leave its existing construction site on Treasure Island in San Francisco Bay in the general direction of Stockton, California. According to Mirian Saez, head of Island operations for the Treasure Island Development Authority, who is also in charge of leases on Treasure Island, did confirm that the Google Barge could make its way to Stockton as early as next week, depending on how the skies “perform”.

    Google To Host First Ara Developers Conference In AprilOne of the cooler concepts that we are actually interested in seeing made a reality is Project Ara. The project was originally announced back in 2013 by Phonebloks, before it was revealed that Motorola would be helping to turn the project into an actual product. What made Project Ara so unique? Well for starters it is a completely modular phone.

    What this means is that users will be able to swap out components like battery, camera modules, flash modules, storage, and so on. Presumably third-party manufacturers would also be able to create these modules which ultimately would result in a highly-customized smartphone. (more…)

    Google Now Launcher Makes It To The Play Store

    With the Nexus 5, Google debuted a new software feature that was referred to back then as the Google Experience Launcher. Its more commonly known as the Google Now launcher, it lets users say “Okay, Google” to initiate a search from any home screen. Initially this was only limited to the Nexus 5, and though people found ways to get it on their other Nexus devices via leaks and unofficial releases, the internet search giant itself has now finally released the launcher as a standalone app in the Google Play Store.
