YouTube Promotes Top Tracks In Music SearchYouTube is a wildly popular website where you can just spend hours and hours in this time sink, watching one cat video to another and before you know it, it is time to go to work again the next morning. Of course, it is also the place where many of us go to in order to get our favorite music video fix. Well, it seems that Google, YouTube’s owner, is revamping its existing website (user interface included) to go up against the likes of Spotify and Rdio among other music streaming companies, where a new segment will appear on the right side of the page as you perform a search on a popular and recognized artist.

    I was super surprised to see this message in my RSS reader that said “Writely registration is now open!” If anything I was expecting “We’ve completed the move to Google!” In their blog they do mention that they are still moving over to Google but they didn’t want to make anyone wait longer.
