Swann Security announces Bolt HD camera

When it comes to home-based security monitoring solutions, you will not be able to go wrong with Swann Security, and the company has recently announced the debut of their Bolt HD mini high definition action camera, where it was first introduced at CES 2013. The Bolt HD camera is a mini HD camera/DVR combo that comes in a rugged and waterproof form factor, alongside a bunch of mounting options that will enable outdoor enthusiasts to relive their most extreme moments over and over again. So, what do you get after parting with $199.99 for the Bolt HD camera?

Underneath the hood, you will find a color camera which can record 1080p or Full HD high resolution video at real time, and if you were to lust after still images, it would end up with 12-megapixel shots. Thanks to the inclusion of a built-in laser pointer, the Bolt HD will enable the user to confirm that the camera is on target, and more than ready to shoot. It has a protected lens so that the user is able to record far more details with its 135 degree angle lens.

The Bolt HD will feature a built-in stereo microphone which enables audio recordings that will be enhanced a whole lot more as you can hear all the action that is going on. The device is capable of stashing away around 10 hours of video recordings on a solitary microSD memory card of up to 32GB, giving you the freedom to swap out cards in a jiffy whenever it is full, or about to be.

The Bolt HD’s mini HDMI connection will let you hook it up to your big screen TV in the living room so that you can share your action in HD on the spot with family and friends. Thanks to a lithium-ion battery which juices up via USB, it is said to give you hours of power on end on a single charge. It is shockproof and waterproof up to 32’, and there are also no dials, gauges, knobs or any preferences to work with. If you are interested, the Swann’s Bolt HD will cost you $199.

Looxcie HD brings 1080p and WiFi streaming to a helmet near you

Looxcie HD brings 1080p and WiFi video to an earlobe near you

Looxcie isn’t just a luxurious sounding word (and terrible pun), it’s also a maker of life-sharing head-mounted cameras. Up until now, it would only let you capture your life in a rather pedestrian 480p, but the new Looxcie HD does away with that, letting you grab that bike ride in full glorious high-definition. Other additions include WiFi (previous iterations relied on Bluetooth) to hook up to your Android or iOS device with, a larger 1,200 mAh battery and improved low light performance. Owners of previous models might spot that with new features comes a new, larger form. The price of evolution it seems. The price for the device, on the other hand, is $279, or $329 if you opt for the “Explore” bundle, which incidentally you can pre-order now. Peep at the source for more.

Canon Adds Two New Cameras To The Cinema EOS System with the The EOS C500 4K And The EOS C100

Canon introduced today in the USA the EOS C500 4K Digital Cinema Camera and the EOS C100 Digital Video Camera. The C500 will take its place as the flagship camera model in Canon’s Cinema EOS System while the C100 provides another option for beginning filmmakers working on a budget. The C500 is Canon’s high-end professional 4K (4096 x 2160-pixel) cinema camera capable of originating uncompressed RAW output for external recording to meet the demands of premium cinematic productions …

Canon announces EOS C100 cinema camera, confirms shipping for the C500

Canon already gave those looking for a full-frame DSLR plenty to think about recently, and now it’s stirring up the movie-maker’s pot. It’s just announced a new member to its EOS digital cinema collection — the EOS C100 — and given us a better idea of when we can expect that C500 to land. The C100 essentially offers a new prospect for those with pockets not quite so deep. Unlike its 4K sibling, the C100 offers 1,920 x 1,080 AVCHD via its Super 35mm 16:9 CMOS sensor, has an ISO range of 320 to 20,000 and sports the EF mount system. Other features of interest include a push auto iris function, one-shot auto focus, a multi-angle 3.5-inch LCD and a locking HDMI output. The C500, meanwhile, has now been tipped for an October debut with that princely $30,000 price-tag. But, if the C100 sounds more your jive, then you can scoop one up in November for a slightly less tax-deductible $7,999. Canon also took the opportunity to offer up two new cinema lenses: the CN-E15.5-47mm T2.8 L S/SP wide-angle and the CN-E30-105mm T2.8 L S/SP telephoto. Care to know more? Focus on the PR after the break.

Veho Muvi HD ‘NPNG’ Edition action camera impressions (video)

Veho releases Muvi HD 'NPNG' Edition action camera, we go handson

Action cameras. We love ’em. Much like buying new sports gear, owning one makes you feel one step closer to the adventurer you know your true self to be. While we’re familiar with more than one contender for the “gnarly throne“, who said there wasn’t room in the rankings for one more? Veho‘s been making pocket-friendly cameras for some time, even of the action variety, but this latest edition — in conjunction with No Proof No Glory (an extreme sports video hub) — sees it making the clearest move yet towards carving its own slice of the high-octane pie.

The latest member of the Muvi HD family will do you full HD at 30fps, along with 720p (at both 30 and 60 fps) plus the usual other resolutions — 960p, WVGA, etc. Of course, it’ll also do stills (if you don’t mind them all being wide-angle) and it’ll even just record audio if you like. So far, so good. What really got us interested, though, was that Veho has squashed two of our most common bug-bears with action cameras by including a viewfinder / screen and a remote control as standard. So, with hope in our hearts and glory to prove, we strapped one on and took it for a ride. Scoot past the break for the impressions.
