Fog is a big part of any good Halloween festivities. You have to have fog. It’s the stuff ghouls and ghosts rise out of. Well if you want to have a cool fog effect for your next halloween party and don’t want to pay a lot of money, you can make a fog machine out of a pumpkin.
You only need a few items like a pumpkin, glycerine, distilled water, an aluminium ashtray or bowl, some toothpicks, air-drying clay, transparent paper, florist’s wire, some tealights and some drawing pins. You’ll carve the pumpkin, make some teeth for it. Then just follow the rest of the steps over at instructables and before you know it, you’ll have your very own pumpkin fog machine.
The finished product shown here looks pretty cool. Pumpkins look more evil with fog coming out of their mouths.
Halloween isn’t even here yet, and here I am talking about Christmas already. Forget those traditional ornaments like angels, snowmen and Santas. Geek up your tree this year and deck the halls with some Nintendo spirit. These cool ornaments should do the trick.
Etsy seller GingerPots has been a busy little elf this year and her workshop is full of cool handpainted Nintendo ornaments for your Christmas tree. You can get Donkey Kong, Mario and Yoshi, Link and Princess Zelda, Mega Man and more.
The shop also has many more geek properties available in ornament (and flowerpot) form. Seriously there is something for everyone and it all looks great. You will have a hard time NOT spending money in her store. Don’t be afraid to display them year round either. Hang some from your Halloween costume even!

It’s that time of the year again – time for the Simpsons’ Treehouse of Horror – a mini-episode-laden tribute to Halloween that’s been going on for 14 straight years. What we’ve got this time around (for the “Couch Gag” intro to the show, at least) is a massive three-minute-long homage to the horror genre of […]
What Do People Do On Labor Day?
Posted in: Today's ChiliInstead of the typical lazy, under-achieving feelings, we all get to be pleased with ourselves tomorrow. We’re making productive contributions to the work force, or we’re trying to, and every little bit counts! But Labor Day kind of has an identity problem. The overeager summer obsession from Memorial Day is long gone and there isn’t the same grilling
8 Great Gifts for Father’s Day 2013
Posted in: Today's ChiliFather’s Day. When you get to my father’s age, it becomes quite difficult to find something original as a gift. Ties, while quite nice, are well-overplayed and no longer an option. Take him out to lunch? Sure… but again, not the most original of ideas. Movies are a good idea… but unless it’s a drafthouse, it’s really not that special.
So what to get for Dad on this Father’s Day? Well, here are 8 ideas…
For the uninitiated, Bento is a type of lunch-time meal which consists
of rice, meat, and vegetables, the whole array arranged together in a
box. It’s a fairly traditional dish, often prepared for school and work
lunches; it’s also available at most restaurants which serve Japanese
food. Those mass-produced meals rather pale in comparison to the stuff
I’d like to share with you folks today – calling the ordinary stuff
downright inadequate wouldn’t be much of a stretch.
I bet ‘Mr. Peeps’ never dreamed 60 years ago that his yummy, gooey,
marshmallow treats would be fodder for a cult. I bet he never thought
that in 60 years there would be as many as 40 different Peeps Shows
throughout the United States to commemorate Easter. And the thousands
of talented Peep artists who create diaramas where Peeps play famous
characters such as Pi or Pope Francis. Well, Mr. Peeps, aka Bob Born,
must be eating these celebrations up – so to speak.
