Honda’s Smartphone Case N Comes With Air Bags

While Honda might be primarily known as a manufacturer of vehicles, the Japanese company has started to take an interest in smartphones lately, and while Honda does not appear to be planning a smartphone of their own, it does appear that the company has thought about protection and have created a concept case for smartphones known as the Case N. This venture by Honda seems pretty serious, although at this point in time it is merely a concept and we doubt Honda has any plans to put it into production, and more importantly we’re not sure who might need such as casing.

The Case N by Honda is basically a box for your smartphone where upon you dropping the phone to the floor, the sensors in the case will be able to pick that up and deploy tiny air bags made from the same material that you can find in your car’s air bags! The protection is a little exaggerated and we can only imagine how troublesome it would be to repack the air bags every time you accidentally drop your phone to the floor, but it’s still a pretty interesting idea, albeit rather novel. Like we said we can’t tell if Honda is merely trying to be funny or if they’re seriously demonstrating a concept, but if you have a few minutes to spare, you can check out the Honda smartphone Case N in the video above.

Honda Made the World's First Smartphone Case With an Emergency Airbag

As long as you’re cool with a little extra bulk on your device, it looks like Honda has created a smartphone case like the one Jeff Bezoz was dreaming of. It virtually guarantees your device will survive any fall—and possibly even a head-on collision with a truck. Overkill? Not when you have to wait two more years to get a subsidized replacement because of your contract. [YouTube via Autoblog]

Honda Accord, Acura RDX and ILX get Siri Eyes Free as a dealer-installed option

We first got word that Siri Eyes Free was coming to the 2013 Honda Accord back in January, but now the auto maker is rolling out the feature to vehicles. Owners of either the aforementioned model, 2014 Accord and both the 2013 Acura RDX and ILX can get the dealer-installed accessory by visiting their local dealer. Through a software update, Apple’s hands-free feature works in tandem with HondaLink and AcuraLink to complete tasks with the vehicles’ built-in microphone and speaker set. There’s still no word on exactly how much the upgrade will cost, but Honda has scheduled a Hangout for December 3rd to make a proper announcement, so perhaps we’ll learn the sticker price then.

Honda To Introduce iOS Mirroring In 2014 Civic Model

Honda To Introduce iOS Mirroring In 2014 Civic ModelEarlier this year it was announced that Honda would be getting some iOS integration in its vehicles with the Siri Eyes Free feature, which basically allowed drivers to activate and use Siri through the car’s controls, as opposed to actually having to hold the device which could be dangerous. Well it looks like Honda’s integration will be taken one step further, and according to reports, Honda is set to make an announcement early December where iOS integration will be taken deeper into their 2014 Honda Civic vehicles.

At this time it is not clear what we could be looking at, but one feature is said to be iOS mirroring where drivers will be able to interact with their iOS device through a 7” multitouch display built into the vehicle’s dash, similar to what was shown off during Apple’s WWDC 2013 event where the company unveiled the iOS in the Car feature. According to the folks at 9to5Mac, this might not be all as their source has informed them that the feature is “more than just simple mirroring”. Either way check back with us at a later date for the details, but in the meantime what do you guys think? It’s starting to look as though the platform wars will be taken to vehicles as well!

An unbreakable man somehow survived this insane 190 mph car crash

An unbreakable man somehow survived this insane 190 mph car crash

Oh my God. Look at this car violently tumble over and over and over again in a crash at a land speed event. The car is mutilated and destroyed and is hardly even recognizable as a vehicle anymore. It’s horrific. It’s awful. And it’s completely unbelievable that the driver of the car, racer Brian Gillespie, survived the crash with only minor injuries. It’s a miracle. He must be unbreakable.
