HTC Desire 316 Spotted On HTC China Website

HTC Desire 316 Spotted On HTC China WebsiteIt does seem as though the folks over at HTC are looking at a ‘x16’ naming convention for some of their smartphones under the Desire range. For instance, we have heard about how many pre-orders that the HTC Desire 816 had already received in China, not to mention having an image of the octa-core HTC Desire 616 revealed, and now here we are with the mid-range HTC Desire 316 which had already appeared on the HTC China website.

HTC Desire 310 Revealed By Accident

htc-desire-310The folks over at HTC Europe have most probably revealed the yet unreleased HTC Desire 310 smartphone by accident, as until now, no formal announcements were made. It could be due to the fact that HTC did not see the HTC Desire 310 as a device worthy of receiving its very own dedicated announcement, or it could have boiled down to an error by the manufacturer themselves. The official page (which has since been taken down, of course) pointed to an extremely moderate hardware specifications list, which means this would clearly reside somewhere in the mid-range or entry level side of things.

HTC outs Desire 701 and 500 handsets in Taiwan, sets sights on the mid-range market

As if that recently announced trio of Desire smartphones wasn’t enough, HTC today introduced a couple more, this time in Taiwan. Meet the Desire 700 and Desire 501, both aimed at the mid-range market in said Asian territory. For its part, the 700 (pictured above) features a 5-inch, qHD display alongside BoomSound speakers, an as-of-yet undisclosed quad-core Snapdragon chip, 1GB RAM, 8GB of internal storage and a 2,100mAh battery. The 501, on the other hand, packs those same traits but with a smaller 4.3-inch, WVGA screen and a 1.5GHz dual-core processor — oh, and it comes in a few different colors. HTC is pricing its dual-SIM-packing Desire 700 at NTD 13,900 (about $470), while the Desire 501 will be available with a cheaper NTD 9,900 price tag.

Update: Engadget Chinese had some hands-on time with the new Desires, so be sure to check that out right here!

Virgin Mobile Picks Up The LTE HTC Desire

Virgin Mobile Picks Up The LTE HTC Desire

Virgin Mobile, a prepaid carrier, has announced immediately availability of the HTC Desire smartphone. Don’t confuse it with another Desire that HTC launched back in 2010. The model that Virgin Mobile has picked up is actually called Desire 601 in various other markets. Its a mid-range smartphone which is relatively affordable off contract, so a good option for those who don’t want to stick with a carrier for at least two years.

The HTC Desire has a 4.5 inch qHD display, a 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 dualcore processor with 1GB RAM, 8GB onboard storage, microSD card support, 5 megapixel rear camera as well as 4G LTE compatibility. It runs Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean out of the box. This particular smartphone is actually often referred to as a watered-down relative of the HTC One, the all metal flagship smartphone which the Taiwanese manufacturer released earlier this year. The HTC Desire brings the custom Sense user interface as well as a number of other software enhancements not found in stock Android. It also features HTC Zoe, BlinkFeed as well as Video Highlights. Much like the HTC One, the Desire has dual front-facing speakers with HTC BoomSound. Virgin Mobile is selling the revamped HTC Desire for $279 without any lengthy service contract.

Virgin Mobile brings HTC Desire to the off-contract war

Today Virgin Mobile has entered another contestant into the growing war of the off-contract smartphones with the HTC Desire. This device works with a 4.5-inch qHD touchscreen display, a 5-megapixel camera at its back, and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 dual-core processor inside. Ready for release as early as today, the HTC Desire for late 2013 […]

    HTC Desire 709d Hits China

HTC Desire 709d Hits ChinaFor those of you who happen to reside in China, here is something that might just interest you if you are a huge fan of all things HTC – the HTC Desire 709d. The HTC Desire 709d does seem to shape up to be a China-only handset, and it remains to be seen whether it will be introduced elsewhere or not. What can we expect from the HTC Desire 709d in terms of its hardware, so that we would know just where it stands in the general scheme of things in the smartphone hierarchy?

Well, the HTC Desire 709d would arrive with a 5″ qHD Super LCD2 display and will be powered by a Snadpragon 200 chipset with a quad-core 1.2GHz Cortex-A5 processor, Adreno 203 graphics and 1GB RAM. It certainly does not sound like much where its processing muscle, or rather, the lack of it, is concerned, but at the very least the camera department seems to fare a whole lot better. We are talking about an 8-megapixel shooter at the back that is also capable of 1080p video recording, in addition to a front 2.1M-megapixel front-facing snapper that can also handle video chats of up to 1080p resolution, 8GB of internal memory, a 2,100mAh battery, and stereo BoomSound front speakers. Expect Android Jelly Bean as the operating system of choice with Sense UI, although we have our reservations as to whether this will be Sense 5.5 or not.

HTC announces the Desire 601, we go hands-on (video)

HTC launches the Desire 600, we go handson video

It’s a weird time at HTC, where its flagship smartphones earn so much praise, but the bottom line continues to evaporate at an alarming rate. It’s the mid-range and low-end that the company now needs to improve in the hope of recouping some of Robert Downey Jr.’s fee. That’s what the Desire 601 is for, a second-tier smartphone that shares more than a little of its DNA with the company’s highly-lauded flagships. We got to spend a couple of minutes with the device, the first Desire handset to ship with LTE, and we’d like to share with you our very first impressions.

HTC Desire 500 arrives in the UK after initial Taiwanese launch

HTC is working its way into the budget handset market after dabbling around mostly with the flagship devices for awhile now. HTC Desire 200 and Desire 600 turn up in leaked certification page, benchmark results

dnp HTC Desire 200 and Desire 600 turn up in leaked certification page, benchmark results

HTC’s Desire line of mid-range Android smartphones have typically used the alphabet to denote different models, but the company is now switching to numerals. At least according to a Taiwanese certification page, we can expect a Desire 200. Some leaked benchmark results also indicate that a Desire 600 will head to market.

We don’t know much about the Desire 200 apart from its name. It’s listed as the HTC 102e on the certification page, and there’s plenty of speculation that this handset is the G2 we heard about earlier this year. It’s a different story for the Desire 600: the benchmark results indicate this device sports a 960 x 540 (qHD) display with an unspecified 1.2GHz chip. The benchmark sheet also reveals this is a dual-SIM model destined for Europe. That’s it for now, but more details are sure to follow shortly.
