HTC One Max goes gold: “Amber Gold”
Posted in: Today's ChiliWelcome to the next black-bordered HTC One and HTC One Max, working with what HTC describes as the “Amber Gold” edition of the devices. Here we’ve got a general color-change … Continue reading
While the HTC One was a pretty solid handset, it unfortunately did not do as well as it should have thanks to its delays which eventually saw the Samsung Galaxy S4 overshadow it, despite it having been announced earlier. However come 2014, HTC is expected to launch a successor to the HTC One, which at the moment is tentatively known as the HTC M8, although there are some who are referring it to the HTC One Two, which in all honesty sounds a bit silly. As far as specs and its design are concerned, we have a good idea of what to expect, although at the moment they are just rumors, but what about the software side?
Well according to a tweet by @LlabTooFeR, it seems that we can look forward to the HTC One’s successor to come with Android 4.4.2 KitKat preinstalled, as well as a the next version of the company’s Sense UI, which we can only assume is Sense 6. This is good news especially since Android 4.4.2 is the latest build of Android at the moment, meaning that would-be customers can look forward to the latest software and not worry about playing catchup. As far as Sense 6 is concerned, we’re not sure what we might be able to expect, but hopefully we will learn more as CES and MWC 2014 come around.
As a quick recap of its rumored specs for those who might have missed the news, the HTC One successor is rumored to feature a 5” Full HD 1080p display. It is also rumored to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and could sport the same Ultrapixel camera and Boomsound speakers found on the HTC One.

HTC One Android 4.3 Update Increases Charging Speeds, Has VZ Cloud App Preloaded
Posted in: Today's ChiliYes, we did read about how the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for the HTC One from Verizon Wireless has already been approved, and it is nice to know that the mobile operating system update has finally arrived, not too long after HTC’s Executive Director of Product Management tweeted to give an advanced warning, or rather, glad tidings, that the Over The Air update is all set to roll out early this week. The changelog is already up and running, and among the features which end users will be able to enjoy would include speedier recharging times (a good thing always, especially in this day and age where we are always on the move and are busier than ever before) whenever one uses a Mophie Juice Pack, the removal of ringing noises on the earpiece, as well as being able to play back selected ringtones.
The HTC Watch application has also been given a boost, where the user will now be able to check out the correct date via the all-day calendar reminder. Apart from that, the keyboard will also be able to better recognize conjunctions, and do expect an improved level of performance from the Backup Assistant. Well, what are you waiting for? Go get ‘em, tiger!

Its no secret that HTC hasn’t had a good year, despite the fact that it released smartphones such as the HTC One, which received rave reviews from critics as well as customers around the world. The company actually posted its first ever quarterly loss in its entire history and just this month HTC has registered its 25th consecutive month of declining year on year sales. In a bid to make things better in the coming year, the company has appointed a new global head of sales who will obviously be tasked with improving the sale of HTC’s devices.
HTC has promoted from within the company, its current CFO Chialin Chang is now the new global head of sales. As per the statement released by the company, Chang looks to consolidate operations and will draw from his previous experience of working in sales. The CFO post will remain with Chang as well until HTC determines that “a transition of responsibilities makes sense.” The company’s revenues have dipped significantly and a number of its top executives left earlier this year, it certainly needs to step up its game if HTC wants to mount a challenge against its rivals, some of who have been better off this year, in the global smartphone market.

HTC M8 Receives Wi-Fi Certification
Posted in: Today's ChiliThe HTC One has been quite the high end smartphone that really deserves the props for being such a high quality device in its class, but unfortunately, the Taiwanese company has not really managed to dig itself out of the rather deep hole that it is in at the moment although fingers crossed, that will happen sooner rather than later. After all, us consumers would not want to lose out in the smartphone race where flagship models are concerned, with different companies doing their utmost best to be better than the other, right? The HTC One surely deserves a sequel of sorts, and many have deemed it to be the HTC M8. The HTC M8 has already made an appearance over in the Wi-Fi certification database, where it will boast of both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, which is beginning to be the norm for most flagship models these days.
It does seem as though it will also carry the Snapdragon 800 processor alongside an UltraPixel camera, and BoomSound dual stereo speakers. It should also arrive with a far larger display, where rumors point to at least a 5” display, and in all probability, we should also see Android 4.4 KitKat run right out of the box alongside a spanking new HTC Sense 6.0 skin. The purported release date has been set at February 2014.
