HTC One and One Mini ‘vivid blue’ hands-on (updated)

HTC One and One Mini vivid blue handson

HTC’s designers may soon be more famous for their expense accounts than their designs, but that shouldn’t detract from their latest color-picking masterpiece. We’ve been playing with the vivid blue HTC One and One Mini and have to admit, it’s a tough choice deciding between this and the glamour red version we saw in July. While we were there, we also asked if the company would be introducing a Mini version of the One in red, but that’s not yet confirmed. HTC is looking to hawk this as a carrier or retailer exclusive in various territories, with the official line being that it’ll land in “select markets” from Q4 — but we’re reasonably sure that Sprint’s got this one locked up for September. Keen-eyed readers will notice in the gallery below that the highlight colors are darker on the One than on the Mini, but that’s the only difference between this and the original vintage.

Update: While there’s nothing official to emerge from the US just yet, we do have official confirmation that both the HTC One and One Mini in “vivid blue” will be sold through the Carphone Warehouse in the UK. The flagship can be had on plans starting at £33, while the smaller model is available from £26 a month.

Sprint roadmap hints at blue HTC One launch on September 10th

Image

The folks over at PhoneArena have gotten their hands on a shot of a Sprint roadmap that’ll excite fans of Mark Rothko’s “Blue” period. The document claims that we’ll see HTC’s azure-hued version of the One arrive on the big yellow network on September 10th. Which is nice, because as far as we know, that’s looking like it’ll be a slow news day.

HTC One Headed To Sprint In Blue This September 10th (Rumor)

HTC One Headed To Sprint In Blue This September 10th (Rumor)Have you watched the Smurfs 2 on the silver screen already? It was a rather disappointing outing for me, but the kids in the cinema sure as heck enjoyed themselves. The color blue is a soothing one, and depending on how it is presented, it certainly does well in the world of fashion. In fact, the shade of blue has also made the headlines recently here at Ubergizmo, where we talked about the PlayStation 4 DualShock 4 controllers arriving in magma red and wave blue shades, not to mention a 250GB blue PS3 bundle hitting GameStop this coming October 8th. Not only that, a few days ago, we did mention about spotting a blue colored HTC One in a spyshot somewhere, and here we are with a leak of an alleged Sprint road map, where it touted the presence of the blue HTC One that will carry a corresponding launch date of September 10th – which is not too far away, really.

Just in case September 10th sounds familiar to you, that is because we reported on a U turn earlier this morning, where the new iPad might or might not be launched on September 10th itself. Granted, most of the world would keep their eyes peeled on Apple’s announcement this September 10th, so just in case you are going to miss it, the blue HTC One will in all probability also make its way to Sprint on the same day.

    Blue HTC One Spotted

Blue HTC One SpottedAre you feeling blue, or do you have a love for all things blue? Here is an example of something blue which you might want to empty or lighten your pockets for – a blue colored version of the HTC One has just been spotted. Sure, the HTC One has been around for quite some time already, and so too have a blue colored version of the HTC One been spotted before, with a press image of it revealed earlier this month to “confirm” its existence, but I guess you can say that things have gotten even more concrete this time around, where the press image shows off its existence with the front panel of a blue HTC One leaked by Taiwanese source ePrice.

Of course, what you see above will be lacking a display that is connected to it, and there is one very good reason for that – this is a piece that is headed right from the assembly unit itself. While the detailed nitty gritty concerning the blue HTC One as well as its launch remain to be seen, it is interesting to note that no particular carrier branding has been spotted on this blue chassis, and chances are it could make its way towards global markets. If the Smurfs had a smartphone that they would use, then I guess this blue colored HTC One variant would do the trick for them.

Blue HTC One shell gets snapped in the non-flesh (updated)

Blue HTC One shell gets snapped in the nonflesh

Press renders? Pah. Now we’ve seen snaps of the forthcoming blue HTC One in some of its metallic glory. The shell, which was reportedly snapped by a worker who works for a factory contracted to make parts for HTC’s smartphones, seems to confirm that the company is cooking up an azure edition of its flagship handset. While we’re not sure if this will single-handedly restore HTC’s fortunes, at least there’s a built-in market for fans of Eiffel 65, ELO and the bad guys from Firefly.

Update: Yet another HTC One in blue has been spotted out in the wild and the folks over at Mobile01 have got the pictures. We’ve tucked one after the break for you to take a look at, too.

Pre-Release Android 4.3 For HTC One Leaked

Pre Release Android 4.3 For HTC One Leaked

HTC has already confirmed that it will released the Android 4.3 update for HTC One next month. Today a custom ROM that brings a pre-release version of Android 4.3 with HTC Sense 5.0 to the international variant of HTC One has been released. The ROM was released by well known Android developer LlabTooFeR, who says that he will release the original, untouched pre-release Android 4.3 update for HTC One on August 28th at 10 a.m. GMT.

It should be clear that this is not an official ROM, its a custom ROM. This particular ROM is based on the unreleased firmware version 3.09.401.1. There are a few noticeable changes. Users can now use their own music for video highlight reels, Sense will automatically sync picture changes to the track’s beat. There are a couple of new shortcuts for Data Usage and Wi-Fi hotspot. A new Task Manager is also present in the app drawer. Since this is a pre-release build, its likely that you might encounter some bugs while using this ROM. Future builds are likely to bring more features for HTC’s flagship Android smartphone. HTC is yet to announce exactly when it intends on rolling out Android 4.3 for the HTC One. This custom ROM can be downloaded from XDA forums, only do so at your own risk.
