HTC One, Droid DNA To Receive Android 4.3 By End Of September

HTC One, Droid DNA To Receive Android 4.3 By End Of SeptemberAccording to a report yesterday, it seems that HTC’s flagship smartphone, the HTC One, will not be getting the Android 4.2.2 update. Instead it will be skipping that update and go straight to Android 4.3 which we’re sure sits well with HTC One owners who might be worried that with Android 4.2.2, they could be left waiting a long time for Android 4.3 to arrive. Now for those who were wondering when would the update make its way onto the device, a recent tweet by Jason Mackenzie has revealed that the Android 4.3 update for HTC One owners in US and Canada is expected to see a release towards the end of September.

Granted the end of September is a little over a month away, but to get the latest build of Android seems like a small price to pay. According to Mackenzie, the reason for the wait is due to the build requiring certification before it is pushed out. Mackenzie also noted that the update will arrive on the Droid DNA handset as well, HTC’s phablet attempt back in 2012. No specific dates but a rough timeframe has been given, so we will be keeping our eyes peeled for more info regarding a release.

HTC One Windows Phone Variant Rumored Once Again

HTC One Windows Phone Variant Rumored Once Again

HTC has launched a number of variants of its current flagship smartphone, the HTC One. There’s the HTC One Mini, the HTC One Google Play Edition and the much rumored HTC One Max. A couple of months back rumors were circulating that the Taiwanese manufacturer might release a Windows Phone powered variant of its popular flagship. Since then we haven’t really heard much about these plans. Given that HTC affirmed its commitment to Microsoft’s platform recently, the rumors have popped up once again.

Last week it was rumored that HTC might give up Windows Phone altogether, given that its WP market share had declined significantly and the fact that Nokia’s Lumia devices are ruling the global WP market. Jeff Gordon, HTC’s Senior Global Online Communications Manager, said that the company is “absolutely dedicated to its Windows Phone lineup.” As per reports, HTC’s Windows Phone powered One will have a 4.7 inch 1080p Super LCD3 display with 2GB RAM, 32GB of on-board storage and Windows Phone GDR3 update, which is the prerequisite for 1080p display support. It is expected that this variant might be released in fall. No additional information has surfaced right now, particularly about the pricing and availability of this device.

HTC One Max toys with fingerprint sensor in leaked images

While it’s not entirely unlikely that the HTC One Max (still not confirmed to exist in and of itself) would be delivered with a fingerprint scanner aboard, images appearing today appear slightly less finalized than past iterations. What we’re seeing in the HTC One Max thus far is a test phone, one aimed at the […]

HTC One Mini headed for AT&T to battle palm-sized competitors

This week the folks at AT&T have unleashed the smallest member of the HTC device family in the HTC One Mini. This device is the same size as the international release of the HTC One Mini, here coming with a few software modifications and connectivity with AT&T’s mode of 4G LTE inside the USA. This […]

HTC One Android 4.3 Update Jump Instead Of Android 4.2.2 Possible

HTC One Android 4.3 Update Jump Instead Of Android 4.2.2 Possible

As opposed to its rival the Samsung Galaxy S4, HTC’s latest flagship Android smartphone had a disadvantage. It didn’t come with Android 4.2.2 pre-installed. Despite the fact that its a minor update, Android 4.2.2 started rolling out recently for international variant of HTC One after weeks of speculation about its release. Carriers in the U.S. are yet to roll out Android 4.2.2 for this device, there’s a possibility that they might jump straight to Android 4.3 instead of 4.2.2. HTC President Jason Mackenzie said that HTC One Dev edition will jump to the latest Android update and its possible that this might be the case for all One variants available through carriers in the U.S.

Mackenzie however did not say when the update will be rolled out. He was responding to a tweet from a user who was frustrated that Verizon HTC One was likely to come with Android 4.2.2 pre-installed whereas customers on other carriers are yet to receive this update. No confirmation has been received as yet regarding this jump from carriers. He did say that they made this decision for Dev edition “because 4.3 is so close. And 2.2 offered limited customer benefit.” Android 4.3 is the latest version of Jelly Bean, it didn’t turn out to be the major update most people were expecting it to be.

HTC One Sees Red at Sprint

I’m a big fan of the HTC One. It’s one of the best Android smartphones made to date, combining an awesome display, great camera, a fast CPU and GPU, and excellent build quality. But if you buy one, you’ve been able to get it in bare aluminum (or a hard to find black). Now, thanks to a deal with Sprint, the HTC One is now available in a lovely shade of red.

And they haven’t just painted the case red or snapped on a plastic back. This is still an all metal case, just like the original HTC One. Sprint is offering the exclusive new Red HTC One at this link for $199.99(USD) – and if you buy one by August 29th, you’ll get a second HTC One free. Naturally, the deal assumes you’ll sign up for a two-year phone contract for each device.

If red isn’t your thing, rumor has it that Verizon will be outing an exclusive blue version by the end of the month as well.

Verizon HTC One Release Date Confirmed For August 22

Verizon HTC One Release Date Confirmed For August 22

The Verizon HTC One has been one of those things products we thought would never come to light considering how many times HTC has said the device wouldn’t be making an appearance on Verizon in the past. It was only in June when both Verizon and HTC confirmed the HTC One would be headed to the carrier, although we were left to speculate when exactly it would release. There’s no need to speculate any further as Verizon has just confirmed the availability and pricing for the HTC One today.

The HTC One will be made available starting on August 22 for $199.99 with a two-year agreement both on Verizon’s online and retail stores. Today’s news comes directly from Verizon’s Twitter account, which they attach images of the Verizon HTC One along with their announcement. As you can see from the image, the front of the HTC One will be completely free of any branding, with the rear of the device including the Verizon and 4G LTE logos sitting right above the Beats Audio logo.

So there you have it, Verizon subscribers. Your turn in the HTC One sunlight is almost upon you. If you’ve been holding onto your $199.99 waiting for this moment to arrive, you’ll be able to give Verizon all of your money starting next week.

Verizon HTC One officially arriving next week

We’ve seen a lot of dates getting thrown around recently about when we might see the Verizon-ified HTC One, but the carrier has officially confirmed that HTC’s flagship handset will be available online and in-store starting on August 22, which is less than a week away from today for those counting down. Verizon confirmed the […]

Sprint Receives Exclusive Red HTC One

Sprint Receives Exclusive Red HTC OneThe HTC One has been more than just a regular smartphone, as this flagship device from the Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer has picked up far more bouquets than brickbats, but there is still much work to be done in order to bring the company back to the good books of many people. Verizon Wireless has been rumored to be on the receiving end of a blue colored HTC One, and here we are with word that Sprint has picked up a red colored HTC One as an exclusive device on the mobile carrier, which has just become official.

The red version of the HTC One will be made available over on Sprint as soon as tomorrow, which would mean that this Friday would not see the Samsung Ativ S Neo as the only new device to roll out. Other than the cosmetic change on the outside, the red HTC One is just a plain old HTC One underneath the hood, so do not expect it to perform better than other HTC One models which are not red, although one does have the psychological factor to take into consideration that red somehow is better and faster. Take Manchester United and Ferrari for instance – their colors are red, and they’ve been serial winners in their respective fields for quite a number of years throughout their respective histories. The red HTC One from Sprint will retail for $199.99 with a 2-year contract.

HTC revealed its new global brand strategy a few days ago by teasing a new ad campaign called “Here’s To Change”, featuring Iron Man star Robert Downey Jr. as the new celebrity spokesperson for the smartphone company. Today, the full-length ad is ready for your viewing, and it simply just raises more questions than it […]
