HTC Dodges Carrier Update Lag By Separating Sense 6 Features Across Multiple Google Play Apps

HTC is hardly unique in facing challenges updating its software for its Android smartphones – carriers must approve OS updates, including those for the UI skins that Android OEMs make for their devices, but it is trying something different to make it less of an issue. Sense 6 (which HTC annoyingly refers to constantly as ‘Sixth Sense,’ too) will have many of its core components… Read More

HTC Sense 6.0 Allegedly Spotted Online

HTC is most probably banking on their spanking new HTC One smartphone that will debut this coming March 25th, and it goes without saying, too, that there will most probably be a whole new version of HTC’s custom Sense user interface that will feature on the upcoming flagship as well. It is a rather fortunate thing, then, that we will have no need to wait until later this month in order to check out what HTC Sense 6.0 is like if this early leak is anything to go by.

Virgin Mobile brings HTC Desire to the off-contract war

Today Virgin Mobile has entered another contestant into the growing war of the off-contract smartphones with the HTC Desire. This device works with a 4.5-inch qHD touchscreen display, a 5-megapixel camera at its back, and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 dual-core processor inside. Ready for release as early as today, the HTC Desire for late 2013 […]

    HTC One max Review

HTC should’ve had a best-seller with the HTC One. The metal-bodied phone was the go-to recommendation for Android fans in the know, and that it didn’t get the attention of Samsung’s Galaxy range is arguably more about marketing than anything else. HTC followed Samsung’s example in distilling the brand for a smaller version, in the […]

HTC Sense 5.5 For HTC One Confirmed

HTC Sense 5.5 For HTC One Confirmed

The Taiwanese manufacturer has confirmed that it will release HTC Sense 5.5 for HTC One. This announcement comes after HTC’s worst kept secret, the HTC One Max, was finally announced today. The phablet will come with Sense 5.5 installed out of the box, its younger and relatively smaller sibling will receive the update in the near future. A few screenshots of HTC Sense 5.5 were leaked last week, today we got a good glimpse of it with the official images of the One Max.

The folks at HTC have confirmed to Pocketlint that Sense 5.5 will be released for HTC One, but they’ve not confirmed exactly when this release will take place. HTC One is currently undergoing a round of updates. Android 4.3 update for the device is gradually being rolled out, U.S. carrier branded models only started receiving it last week. Sense 5.5 will be brought over to the One in a future software update. A number of improvements have been made in Sense 5.5. Blinkfeed has been enhanced and users finally have the option to turn Blinkfeed off and revert to a standard issue home screen with shortcuts, widgets etc. Users can now also source content from RSS feeds into Blinkfeed and they can mark something if they wish to read it later. Changes have been made to the gallery as well, it now uses a carousel for navigation. It certainly enhances and refines the user experience, and is likely to make those on Sense 5.0 wish that the update be released soon.

HTC Sense 5.5 User Interface Rumored To Have Leaked

HTC Sense 5.5 User Interface Rumored To Have LeakedAnother day, another leak. The folks over at China seem to be getting better and better at obtaining leaks of upcoming hardware, although this time around, it would have something to do with software that is on the way out. What you see above is an alleged HTC Sense 5.5 user interface leak, courtesy of Weibo from China. The screenshot of the user interface does point to a number of significant changes compared to the existing version of Sense UI, and I would say that the color scheme is what stands out the most from the rest of the visual changes. One would be able to notice the lighter background colors as well as several icons undergoing a redesign, making us wonder whether HTC Sense 5.5 is meant to go up against iOS 7.

Not only that, it does seem as though there will be a new email and music widget on its way which if true, will introduce additional versatility of the user interface. The smartphone depicted in the alleged leaked image could either be the HTC Butterfly or the Butterfly S, and assuming that is true, then the HTC Sense 5.5 user interface ought to be making its way to older generation devices.
