Nexus 10 Rumored To Be Built By HTC

Nexus 10 Rumored To Be Built By HTCThe other day it was rumored that HTC could be the company responsible for building Google’s next Nexus tablet, although we weren’t sure if they were going to replace ASUS for the Nexus 7, or Samsung for the Nexus 10, or maybe even be the manufacturer of the rumored Nexus 8. Well it turns out that thanks to a new report from DigiTimes, it seems that HTC could be taking over Samsung’s spot and manufacture the next-gen Nexus 10 tablet instead. It’s odd that Google has decided to give the job to HTC, especially since HTC hasn’t exactly been very successful when it comes to tablets, but since it is a rumor for now, we’ll just take it with a grain of salt.

Word on the street has it that HTC was supposed to be the original manufacturer of the Nexus 7 but turned it down for unknown reasons. The Nexus 10 has not been updated for a while now and hearing that HTC could be one manufacturing it would seem to suggest that perhaps we might see a release or an announcement of sorts later in the year. HTC is also struggling at the moment compared to the likes of Samsung and hopefully with them possibly getting the gig of the Nexus 10, they will be able to enjoy the sales that Nexus-based devices typically bring in.

HTC Will Launch $150-$300 Smartphones In 2014

HTC Will Launch $150 $300 Smartphones In 2014Apple, despite not selling low-end handsets, is doing very well for themselves. Nokia on the other hand despite selling high-end handsets, has actually done better for itself by selling low-end devices like the Nokia Lumia 520, so which strategy should one adopt? Go high-end and get a higher profit margin? Or go low-end and capture a larger market? Well we suppose that would be subject to a variety of other factors to take into consideration, but in the meantime HTC fans will be pleased to learn that HTC will not be abandoning their low-end market entirely. According to a report from Reuters, HTC’s Chairwoman, Cher Wang, revealed that the company was planning on selling more $150-$300 handsets in 2014.

As you might recall back in 2013, HTC did not exactly focus on the low-end market, with devices like the HTC One and HTC One Max not exactly of the budget variety. This is compared to 2012 where HTC had devices like the HTC One V which was priced to capture the low-end market. At this point in time we have not heard anything about low-end HTC devices, save for the HTC M8 Mini which at the very least would be priced cheaper than the HTC M8 although we’re not sure if that would be considered to be an entry-level handset. Perhaps HTC will have more to share during MWC 2014, so check back with us then for the details.

Nokia And HTC Agree To Settle Their Patent Litigations

Nokia And HTC Agree To Settle Their Patent LitigationsWould it be more expensive for HTC to find workarounds for their devices in order to avoid infringing upon Nokia’s patents, or to sign an agreement with them in which HTC would pay Nokia in order to use their patents? Perhaps HTC has crunched the numbers and realized that the latter would make better financial sense because Nokia has recently announced that they and HTC have agreed to settle all outstanding patent litigation and to enter into a patent agreement, although exactly how much HTC will be paying Nokia for the right to use their patents remains unknown, unsurprisingly. Alleged HTC M8 UI Leaked

Alleged HTC M8 UI LeakedWe expect that come MWC 2014, HTC will take the wraps off the successor to the HTC One in the form of the HTC M8. Based on the rumors and an alleged leaked photo (which may or may not be fake), it has been suggested that the design of the HTC M8 will be somewhat similar to the HTC One, which in all honestly is not that bad of an idea since the HTC One was a pretty nicely designed device. However what about software? Will HTC be overhauling its Sense UI that many have come to know and possibly love? Well thanks to a recent photo posted by @evleaks, the answer might be yes.

As you can see in the screenshot above, the photo posted is allegedly that of the upcoming HTC M8 and possibly also future HTC devices that will sport the latest UI as well. If you’re wondering why it feels so familiar, it is because it uses the tile layout that is somewhat similar to Windows Phone design, and also somewhat reminiscent of Samsung’s leaked Magazine UX for its upcoming Galaxy S5. Of course there’s no telling if this UI is the real deal, especially after the previous HTC M8 photo was sort of debunked by a HTC exec, so take it with a grain of salt for now. However if it is the real deal, it does look pretty nice and corroborates earlier rumors about the on screen buttons. What do you guys think?

Next Nexus Tablet Will Be Built By HTC [Rumor]

It has been quite some time since HTC collaborated with Google on a Nexus product, and no, the “Nexus” experience providing Google Play Edition devices do not count. HTC: Smartwatch Battery Life Issue SolvedHTC might not be in in the best of financial health at this particular point in time, but this does not mean that they are about to throw in the towel anytime soon. HTC Exec Casts Doubt On Leaked HTC M8 Photo

HTC Exec Casts Doubt On Leaked HTC M8 PhotoYesterday we caught a glimpse of a photo which is allegedly that of the upcoming HTC M8. Based on its design, it looked more or less like the HTC One except with dual LED flashes and a dual camera setup, however as the rumors did claim that the HTC M8 would be similar in design to the HTC One, we did not think much of it. However it looks like the skeptics could be right this time as to whether the photo could be real or fake, thanks to a recent tweet by Mark Moons. Mark Moons is HTC’s regional director for the Benelux area of Europe and according to a cryptic post on his Twitter, he writes, “Somebody has been photo shopping….”

Moons does not directly reference the recently leaked photo, but many speculate that could be what he is referring to. Assuming that is the case, chances are the photo we saw just yesterday might not be the real deal after all. We’re not sure which part might be photoshopped, could it be the dual LED flashes? Could it be the dual camera setup? Or could it be the entire design itself? In any case make what you will of it, but like we said in our previous post, there is always the chance that these leaked photos could be fake, but do check back with us during MWC 2014 where hopefully more official details about the HTC M8 will be revealed!
