Alleged HTC M8 Photo Leaked

Alleged HTC M8 Photo LeakedThe HTC One was a decent Android device and was one of the better built Android devices of 2013. Unfortunately due to bad timing of its release and unforeseen delays, it allowed other competing devices, such as the Samsung Galaxy S4 to gain some ground on it. However we are in 2014 and we’re hoping that HTC will not make the same mistake with the HTC One’s successor, which is believed to be the HTC M8. Now we have heard lots of rumors about its specs but we have not actually managed to catch a glimpse of the device, at least until recently thanks to a photo recently uploaded by @htcfamily_ru.

Based on what we can see in the photo, it seems that the rumors might have been right about the design of the device. The HTC M8 appears to share a lot of design features with the HTC One, although the main difference would be the fact that there appears to be dual cameras, which have also been a rumored feature, and how there are now dual LED flashes which should help improve photos when taken in low-light settings where flash might be required. Of course the photo we are looking at could be a fake for all we know, so do take it with a grain of salt for now, but in the meantime who else is excited for the HTC M8? Be sure to check back with us during MWC 2014 for all the details!

HTC To Modify Some Of Its Devices After Nokia Lawsuit

HTC To Modify Some Of Its Devices After Nokia LawsuitBack in early 2013, Nokia filed a lawsuit against HTC alleging that the Taiwanese company had infringed upon its patents. So far Nokia has been successful with their lawsuit against HTC, winning an injunction against the company’s devices and further pursuing them in international markets, such as France. Well it looks like HTC has decided that perhaps modifying their handsets would be a better solution rather than to keep fighting it out in the courts, and in a filing at the Taiwan Stock Exchange, HTC said, “We are investigating modifications for our handsets to remove this redundant technology.”

HTC expects that there will be little disruption to the company and their customers during the period in which they modify their handsets. It is unclear if there might be some stock shortage during this process, but then again we expect many customers could be holding back from purchasing older HTC devices in favor of the upcoming HTC M8, but we guess we will have to wait and see. Hopefully the modifications that HTC makes will not infringe upon any of Nokia’s other patents, although the smart thing would probably to take out a licensing deal with Nokia which might pay off in the long run.

HTC Droid DNA Android 4.4.2 With Sense 5.5 ROM Available

HTC Droid DNA Android 4.4.2 With Sense 5.5 ROM AvailableIts no secret that Android users often have to wait for a long time before OEMs released latest firmware updates. There are several steps involved in preparing an update for public release, which often holds it up for a long time. While HTC has talked about the KitKat roadmap for few of its devices, most presumably won’t receive the update till March or April. This is where the developer community has come in. Folks over at XDA forums have ported a stock Android 4.4.2 ROM from HTC One and ported it to the Butterfly, a.k.a Droid DNA.

HTC Droid DNA Android 4.4.2 With Sense 5.5 ROM Available

Since HTC Droid DNA Android 4.4.2 ROM with Sense 5.5 UI is a port, software features found on the HTC One will also be available in this ROM. Moreover, the ROM isn’t pre-rooted, though users won’t have a hard time rooting it once they’ve flashed it on their Droid DNA. There’s support for both CDMA and GSM standards, with odexed and deodexed builds being provided along with a patch to enable CDMA. Those feeling adventurous enough to flash this port on their device can get their hands on the ROM from here. Since this is an unofficial port after all, the possibility exists that everything might not be in absolutely perfect working order.

HTC M8 Release Date & Specs Round Up Unofficial

HTC M8 will carry the baton from the all metal HTC One

HTC’s 2013 flagship, the HTC One, was very well received. It was loved for its all metal build, which gave the smartphone a premium feel as well as a leg up on its rivals that stuck with plastic and polycarbonate. The design and build coupled with the software tweaks by HTC really made the One a bonafide high-end Android smartphone. It might not have done wonders for the company’s balance sheets, but it certainly intrigued consumers, who will no doubt be wondering HTC comes up with this year. A few months ago we heard that the company was developing a new flagship under the codename M8. This is believed to be the One’s successor, and its possible that HTC might unveil it at the Mobile World Congress 2014 in Barcelona next month. Last year, the HTC One was unveiled on February 19th, before being showcased at MWC 2013 a week later.

AT&T HTC One X Android 4.2 Update Released

    HTC-One-X-01

The wait is finally over for HTC One X users. A couple of days back the company had revealed that this update had received technical approval, which meant that the roll out was imminent. Today, the AT&T HTC One X Android 4.2 update has finally been released, a few weeks after the carrier released Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean for the HTC One X+. The update is being rolled out in stages, so even if it hasn’t shown up in your region, it probably will as the day progresses.

HTC Desire 310 Revealed By Accident

htc-desire-310The folks over at HTC Europe have most probably revealed the yet unreleased HTC Desire 310 smartphone by accident, as until now, no formal announcements were made. It could be due to the fact that HTC did not see the HTC Desire 310 as a device worthy of receiving its very own dedicated announcement, or it could have boiled down to an error by the manufacturer themselves. The official page (which has since been taken down, of course) pointed to an extremely moderate hardware specifications list, which means this would clearly reside somewhere in the mid-range or entry level side of things.

HTC M8 To Come In Multiple Color Options [Rumor]

HTC-One-01While the HTC One back in 2013 might have primarily been known and referred to by its grey model, there are actually other color options, such as red, black, blue, and gold (although this was a limited edition model). That being said, word on the street has it that the upcoming HTC One successor, the HTC M8 which it is tentatively known as for now, will be coming in four color options as well. This is according to XDA moderator Shen Ye who claimed on his Twitter post that he was tipped off to the four possible color variants of the HTC M8.

According to him, the HTC M8’s color options will have the color hex codes: #bebebe, #33b5e5, #cc0000, and #414141, so if you have an image editing program, you can enter those hex codes in to get an idea of what colors you might be able to look forward to. In any case take it with a grain of salt for now, but we’ll definitely keep you guys updated with the latest news. There’s still no telling when the HTC M8 will be launched or what it will be called. Some have speculated that it could be known as the HTC One Two/One 2 and given that MWC is around the corner, it is possible that it will be launched then, but hopefully more details will emerge in the near future.

Android KitKat For HTC One In North America Delayed

HTC-One-32When Android 4.4 KitKat was announced, HTC promised to bring it to the HTC One within 90 days. Considering that we’re only a few days away from that 90 day promise, it looks like HTC might not be able to keep to their words after all. While the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update has made its way to those living in Europe, there’s still no sign of it in the US, and its absence has since been explained by HTC’s Americas President, Jason Mackenzie, in an open letter to HTC users.
