This week the folks at Parrot have announced that they’re working with Microsoft closely to release not only apps and connections between Windows Phone and their Parrot.AR Drone 2.0 and Zik, but Windows 8 as well. This means that you’ll be able to work closely with the Zik headphones and pilot this beastly drone from […]
HTC promised that One owners would get Android 4.4 KitKat within 90 days of the OS’ announcement, and it’s now detailing when specific countries will get their turn. The company’s North American and UK branches both say that they will start upgrading Ones to KitKat by late January, or right at the tail end of the 90-day window. There isn’t any word regarding the upgrade schedules in other large countries. However, Droid DNA fans won’t be left — HTC says they should get KitKat by the end of first quarter, or no later than March.

FreedomPop’s free cellphone plan is tempting, but we doubt that everyone wants to use one of the carrier’s few available handsets. Thankfully, they won’t have to. The discount provider has just launched a bring-your-own option that lets anyone with a compatible Sprint phone (CDMA plus LTE or WiMAX) jump on FreedomPop’s extra-frugal services. Subscribers who don’t yet have a phone are getting a little more choice at the same time; the carrier is simultaneously resurrecting the HTC Evo 4G, which is available for $99 contract-free. You’ll still have to live in an area with healthy Sprint coverage for FreedomPop’s plans to make sense, but the new option means that you won’t have to abandon a favorite device if you’re interested in switching.

Today Virgin Mobile has entered another contestant into the growing war of the off-contract smartphones with the HTC Desire. This device works with a 4.5-inch qHD touchscreen display, a 5-megapixel camera at its back, and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 dual-core processor inside. Ready for release as early as today, the HTC Desire for late 2013 […]
There’s a next-generation HTC One out there in the wild, and it goes by the code name M8. You may recognize this name as it’s a one-up from the HTC One’s original code name in M7 – here appearing to be, quite simply, the next big step. Like the HTC One X’s release in the […]
Alleged HTC M8 Specs Leaked
Posted in: Today's ChiliSounds like the HTC M8 is — and you could probably predict — a 5-inch, 1080p handset powered by KitKat and a Snapdragon 800.
— @evleaks (@evleaks) November 15, 2013
When it comes to the HTC M8, we have heard our fair share of rumors in the past, including some alleged photos that had already leaked online. Not only that, it has also been rumored to arrive across all major mobile carriers in the US by the end of the first quarter of next year, which means all will be revealed within the next six months on the calendar. Well, this time around, we have another leak from @evleaks concerning the HTC M8, where it has been touted to arrive with a 5” display which will feature Full HD resolution, running on the latest Android 4.4 KitKat operating system alongside a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 SoC.
The HTC M8 will also purportedly arrive with the Sense skin which is tipped to be version 6. When one takes a look at the past release schedule of HTC, chances are the HTC M8 will arrive on store shelves as mentioned earlier, sometime in the first quarter of next year. In the mean time, we can most probably expect additional leaks and rumors surrounding the smartphone to make their way online. After all, an upcoming flagship device tends to be scrutinized closer than ever before.

The speakers on the HTC One are placed rather oddly, but when you hold the phone in landscape mode, it starts to make sense when it attempts to provide its listener with stereo sound. Well in case the default volume was not loud enough, or you didn’t want to spend money on a third-party accessory that wouldn’t really take advantage of the device’s unique speaker placement, HTC UK has debuted the Gramohorn II, a pair of 3D printed speakers that will help to naturally amplify the sound coming from the phone’s default speakers.
This is part of HTC’s “Here’s To Creativity” campaign, with HTC commissioning design Justin Wolter to come with a HTC One version of his own Gramohorn, hence the “II” in its name. The Gramohorn II is expected to be able to boost the speakers by 50% as well as add some bass to the proceedings. The Gramohorn II is also compatible with the HTC One Mini and the HTC One Max, thanks to its interchangeable cradle. The plaster resin version of the speakers will cost around $1,610, while the milled stainless steel limited edition version will go for a whopping $8,030. Yikes!

If you’re looking for particularly decadent accessory for your HTC One, perhaps you’d be interested in a wonderfully elaborate gramophone-inspired passive speaker? If you’ve got $8,000 lying around, at any rate.
