HTC One max officially announced

htc-one-maxIs bigger better? That certainly does seem to be the case when it comes to smartphones, as a brand new genre of sorts known as the “phablet” was born some time back where it straddles the line between a smartphone and a tablet. HTC might be a beleaguered company financially at the moment after seeing their market share shrink from time to time due to the intense competition around them, but this has not stopped them from churning out new devices from time to time, and their latest effort arrives in the form of the HTC One max.

The HTC One max will basically be a larger version of the award winning HTC One, where it will include the performance as well as sleek design of the HTC One, albeit in a larger form factor. Not only that, it will also arrive with a bunch of other acclaimed features such as HTC BlinkFeed, HTC Zoe and HTC BoomSound, which will all work alongside the spanking new HTC Sense 5.5 that will aim to deliver the best overall smartphone experience – on a larger screen, of course.

Your eyes will definitely appreciate the HTC One max’s 5.9″ Full HD 1080p display that makes it ideal for enjoying photos, videos and movies whenever you are on the move. Powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor that will be accompanied by a quad-core 1.7GHz CPU, it should be able to handle all high graphics intensive apps without batting an eyelid. The HTC One max will also arrive with 16GB or 32GB of storage space on-board, that can be augmented via a microSD memory card slot. Oh yeah, did you know that HTC One max owners will also be able to pick up 50GB of additional free Google Drive online storage?

Pricing details remain to be determined as at press time, but you can be sure that the HTC One max will roll out worldwide from the end of October onward.

HTC One Max Announced With Fingerprint Scan Feature

HTC One Max Announced With Fingerprint Scan FeatureHTC has not exactly been doing quite well as a company in recent memory, but it is also nice to see that they have not yet thrown in the towel and let the likes of Samsung and LG walk all over them. No sir, they hit back quite hard with the HTC One that drew its fair share of rave reviews from the masses, and this time around, they have taken something good and made it even better. We are referring to the HTC One max, which is a larger sized smartphone which will deliver the kind of sleek design and functionality that can be found on the HTC One. Of course, there is one standout feature which would be the Fingerprint Scan, where it brings convenience to a new level while maintaining features such as HTC BlinkFeed, HTC Zoe and HTC BoomSound, working in tandem with the latest HTC Sense 5.5.

The HTC One max will feature a 5.9″ Full HD 1080p display, where it will run on a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor with a quad-core 1.7GHz CPU that ought to make light work of graphics intensive apps and programs. With a microSD memory card slot, it is a snap to expand on the 16GB or 32GB of internal memory, while you will also be on the receiving end of a generous 50GB of extra free Google Drive online storage space. There is no word on pricing just yet, but the HTC One max is tipped to roll out worldwide from the end of this month onward. I guess all of the leaks in the past have been confirmed! [Press Release]

HTC One Max gets official with 5.9-inch screen and fingerprint sensor

After weeks of rumors and speculation HTC has gone official with the new One Max Smartphone. The HTC One Max specifications have been confirmed and include a 5.9-inch display supporting full HD 1080p resolution. The smartphone also uses HTC Sense 5.5. Many of the rumors have focused on a fingerprint sensor and the official HTC […]

HTC One Max: Shiny Aluminum, 5.9-Inch Screen and a Fingerprint Scanner

HTC One Max: Shiny Aluminum, 5.9-Inch Screen and a Fingerprint Scanner

HTC’s zapped its flagship One design with its embiggening rays, and scaled the One Max up to gigantic proportions. At 5.9-inches, it’s in that scary land where it’s either a really large phone, or a phablet. We’re not quite sure HTC knows what it is either.

5.9-inch HTC One Max With Fingerprint Sensor Allows You To Launch Apps With A Touch

    htconemax1

HTC has revealed its latest smartphone, the 5.9-inch big-screen sibling of the HTC One flagship device. The new HTC One Max is well into phablet territory at nearly 6 inches, but retains the slick aluminum case design of its smaller predecessor, as well as the somewhat dodgy Ultrapixel camera. But its full 1080p screen packs an impressive 349 ppi, and it has a fingerprint sensor on the back with some interesting tricks up its sleeve.

HTC’s fingerprint scanner is programmable for up to three separate fingers, which can instantly launch up to three separate apps without requiring unlocking or a trip to the home screen. That’s a twist on Apple’s iPhone 5s, which uses its built-in fingerprint scanner in place of a passcode, and for authorizing purchases made through the iTunes and App Stores.

The One Max fingerprint sensor can also unlock the phone, and is located on the back of the device just beneath the camera lens. That seems a somewhat awkward placement for it, judging from my experience with the LG G2′s weird back panel sleep/wake button and volume rocker, but given the HTC phone’s nearly edge-to-edge display and lack of a home button, there was really very few other places it could land.

Another key improvement for the HTC One Max is that it has expandable memory – there’s either 16GB or 32GB built-in, but you can take off the rear cover and put in a micro SD card for up to 64GB more, which is a considerable advantage. Other specs include a 1.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon 600 processor (same as the One) and an IR blaster. It’s set to launch in Europe and Asia in October, and then it’ll make its way to the U.S. shortly after that, likely in early November.

HTC’s strategy with smartphone releases is evidently to take its core One device and tweak it to suit the tastes of multiple consumers; the One Max offers a big-screen experience, with the flash addition of the fingerprint scanner but with a slightly worse-off camera since it lacks optical image stabilization. The expandable memory is an interesting change, and could reflect an attempt by HTC to iterate based on customer feedback it has received from previous launches, but all told I’d still suspect the One Max has a hard time doing much to reverse HTC’s recent misfortunes.

High Resolution Photos Of HTC One Max Leak Online

We have been consistently hearing rumors and seeing leaks about the HTC One Max for a couple of months now. The company is yet to announce the device, given the sheer frequency of leaks, it is only a matter of when HTC will make the announcement, and no longer a matter of if it will ever launch the device. A recent rumor suggests that HTC might unveil the device at the event it has scheduled next week, and this seems quite plausible. Up till now we’ve only ever seen blurry and grainy pictures of the phablet, a number of high resolution pictures of the HTC One Max have now made their way online.

These pictures reiterate what we have been hearing for a long time, the HTC One Max will have a fingerprint sensor on the back. It was rumored recently that perhaps the fingerprint sensor will allow users to launch specific apps as well by just touching their finger on it. The pictures also reveal that there’s no Beats logo on the back, makes sense since HTC has unloaded its stake in the company. Last but not the least, we see that the power button has been shifted to the right side along with the volume controls. Details on pricing and availability are scarce right now, hopefully HTC will elaborate more at its event when it finally announces the One Max. [Images via Xuite]

Nokia And HTC Rumored To Be Working On Dual SIM Windows Phones

Nokia And HTC Rumored To Be Working On Dual SIM Windows Phones

Its no secret that demand for dual SIM smartphones exists in certain markets, demand can particularly be witnessed in emerging markets. Barring Apple, a number of major manufacturers have released a dual SIM variant of their flagship smartphones. Such variants might not gain traction in the West, that’s why they’re almost never released there. As per a latest rumor, both Nokia and HTC are working on dual SIM Windows Phone devices, though it hasn’t been confirmed exactly when these devices will be coming out and which markets they will be available in.

At this point in time no additional information is available about this dual SIM Windows Phone smartphones. Their monikers, specifications and features are not known, so obviously there’s no information about price and availability. Nokia isn’t expected to make an announcement any time soon, rumor has it that its dual SIM Windows Phone devices won’t come before the end of this year. HTC might take even longer, pushing the release of its devices in 2014. These devices are said to be dual SIM, dual standby which basically means that both SIM cards are on standby when neither is being used. However when one SIM card starts being used, the other one automatically becomes inactive.

HTC One Max Fingerprint Sensor Might Allow Users To Launch Apps

HTC One Max Fingerprint Sensor Might Allow Users To Launch Apps

There has been no shortage of HTC One Max rumors over the past few months. Time and time again we’ve heard that HTC is working on a super sized version of its popular One smartphone. The latest rumor suggests that the fingerprint sensor on HTC One Max, which is expected to be on its back, will allow users to launch apps by just using their fingers. This would be a rather interesting use of the fingerprint sensor, quite different from what Apple lets users do with Touch ID, which is just limited to locking and unlocking the device and authorizing iTunes purchases right now.

Apparently users will be able to assign each of their ten fingers to launch a different app, so when they touch the sensor with that particular finger, the pre-selected app will launch on its own. So users will be able to configure if they want their index finger to launch the music player or the thumb to launch the camera. It is not known for sure if the access will be limited to built-in apps or if users will get the ability to select third party apps as well. One thing is for sure though, this is just one of the rumors in the endless pit of scuttlebutt about HTC’s new phablet, a grain of salt is definitely advised.
