Lenovo HTC acquisition tipped to be in the works for months

It’s actually surprisingly common these days to hear about acquisitions of one major company by another, so today’s suggestion that Lenovo is interested in picking up smartphone company HTC isn’t all that off-the-wall. HTC hasn’t been doing especially well in the profits department over the past few quarters, so acquisition rumors have appeared more than […]

HTC One Max Full Spec List Allegedly Leaked

HTC One Max Full Spec List Allegedly Leaked

We’ve seen leak after leak after leak about this upcoming HTC device and as yet it can not be said for sure when the One Max is going to be announced. Purported pictures of the device have leaked many times and so have the specs it is believed to tout. Today the alleged full spec list of the HTC One Max has appeared online, reiterating most of what we’ve already heard about the device.

It was rumored a few days ago that perhaps the One Max won’t have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor it was previously said to come with. An older Qualcomm processor is expected to be onboard and the spec list hints at that possibility as well. Furthermore, the One Max is said to have a 5.9 inch full 1080p HD display, Beats Audio, 2GB RAM, microSD support, and Android 4.3 with HTC Sense 5.5. The HTC One Max is basically going to be a super sized version of the HTC One, though as per this list, its going to be lighter. This list doesn’t mention the much rumored fingerprint scanner that the One Max is expected to have on its back, hopefully HTC will elaborate on that at the event it has scheduled next week, if it announces the device there that is. AT&T HTC One Android 4.3 Update Now Rolling Out

AT&T HTC One Android 4.3 Update Now Rolling Out

We reported earlier this week AT&T subscribers who own an HTC One will be able to get in on the Android 4.3 bandwagon starting on October 8, according to HTC America’s president Jason Mackenzie. It looks like both companies are sticking to their word as Mackenzie announced late yesterday the rollout officially started, meaning you should probably check your HTC One to see if the update has been made available to you. Lenovo Rumored To Buy Out HTC

Lenovo Rumored To Buy Out HTCDespite HTC’s chairwoman, Cher Wang, coming forward and refuting rumors of the company selling out, new rumors have surfaced suggesting that Lenovo could be the company that will buy out HTC. The rumor comes about as HTC has recently posted an operating loss of $101 million, making it the company’s first in over a decade, and that because of that (amongst other reasons), HTC and Lenovo’s top executives have begun to meet with each other, dating as far back in August, about a possible buy out.

Given that Lenovo has already taken over IBM’s ThinkPad division, we guess acquiring new companies would not be a stretch of the imagination. Not to mention Lenovo is a pretty well-respected company amongst Chinese manufacturers, so for them to takeover HTC would not be such a bad thing. In any case this rumor is a bit odd given that HTC has flat out denied such a possibility only a day ago, so take it with a grain of salt for now, and hopefully either HTC or Lenovo will come forward with an official statement refuting the matter, or their silence could basically be a form of implicit acknowledgement. What do you guys think? If Lenovo were to takeover HTC, would they have better luck in the smartphone market?

    HTC Sense 5.5 Screenshots Spotted

HTC Sense 5.5 Screenshots SpottedHTC first rolled out their Sense 5.0 user interface skin a good seven months plus back, and it goes without saying that it has been long overdue that a new version should be in the pipeline already. Apparently, someone has already come up with screenshots of the upcoming HTC Sense 5.5 user interface, which is obviously part of a leak, and there were tweaks included in the new and upcoming version, too.

When HTC introduced the Blinkfeed with the Sense 5.0 user interface, folks never had much of a choice when it comes to turning off this particular feature – handy when you are already running low on battery. It does seem as though HTC Sense 5.5 will change this, as you can disable or enable the Blinkfeed feature according to your whim and fancy. Apart from that, HTC will also be introducing a couple of new topics to the Blinkfeed, where the update will deliver the choice to add your own custom topics to the feed.

Other improvements that can be found in HTC Sense 5.5 will also include an improved keyboard which features additional emoticons for you to play around with, while the camera is also touted to be better since it features new options such as dual capture and panorama+. Hopefully HTC will deliver a concrete release date for the new Sense 5.5 UI.

HTC One Max Confirmed To Get Fingerprint Scanner, Says WSJ

HTC One Max Confirmed To Get Fingerprint Scanner, Says WSJThe Wall Street Journal has reported that HTC is all set to show off the HTC One Max that will arrive with an integrated fingerprint sensor, although it remains to be seen whether this particular combination of the fingerprint sensor as well as a generous display will be able to arrest HTC’s slide at the moment. Having been rumored for months on end already, the HTC One Max will be the second mobile device under the umbrella of smartphones to deliver a fingerprint sensor, with the iPhone 5s from Apple being the first. This confirmation is definitely more than welcome considering how we were just talking about a rumor of it earlier on.

Just how will HTC make use of the fingerprint sensor on the HTC One Max remains to be seen, but if it were to be a close replica of what the iPhone 5s has been doing all along such as to unlock the device and to authorize iTunes purchases (of course, in the One Max’s case, it would be to authorize Google Play purchases), then it might be seen as a copycat. We would like to see HTC make a revolutionary leap though in this case, and cannot wait for the HTC One Max to finally arrive.

Microsoft taps Samsung and Huawei for dual-boot Windows Phone options

Just as they have apparently tapped HTC for the dual-boot option for Android phones with Windows Phone 8, it’s become apparent today that Microsoft may have asked Samsung and Huawei to do the same. Microsoft was tipped this past week to have suggested HTC make a selection of devices that boot to Windows Phone 8 […]

HTC Chairwoman Refutes Takeover Rumors, Claims Everything Is Well

HTC Chairwoman Refutes Takeover Rumors, Claims Everything Is WellHTC is not doing too well for itself and has recently announced an operating loss of $101 million, making it the company’s first in many years. To that extent there have been rumors suggesting that HTC could be looking for a company to buy them out and hopefully solve their financial woes, and that a change in leadership was imminent especially in the face of HTC’s “failures”, despite devices like the HTC One having won awards, and with the upcoming HTC One Max phablet on its way which hopefully will appeal to customers looking for a large display akin to that of the Samsung Galaxy Note series.
