The folks over HTC must have heaved a collective sigh of relief after the launch of the HTC One (M8) went on relatively well, but generally speaking, Android users are the ones who would benefit the most. Why do I say so? Well, it seems that HTC intends to bring their signature HTC BlinkFeed updates to anyone who own a decent Android-powered device via the Play Store.

Earlier today, HTC unveiled its latest handset, the HTC One M8. Interestingly enough HTC has decided to try a new strategy which is to make the phone available as soon as it is announced, as opposed to announcing it earlier and then have customers wait a few weeks or a month before they can get their hands on it.
The good news is that for those on AT&T, Verizon, or Sprint, the handset will be available for purchase today, although those on T-Mobile will have to wait until next month. Even better news is that it looks like Verizon is offering a “buy one get one free” deal for the HTC One M8. (more…)

OnePlus, a nascent company founded by ex-Oppo executives, still has a lot to prove before it can take a seat at the adult table. The company’s first smartphone, OnePlus One, is due to be launched on April 23rd. It has confirmed a few details about the specifications, but so far hasn’t given us a glimpse of the design or the materials its expected to use. While the whole world is more or less thrilled with the announcement of the HTC One 2014 (aka HTC M8) with us having already taken it out for a spin, one ought to take note that the HTC One 2014 is not the only thing that is happening today to a HTC branded device.
