Chinese Manufacturers Gear Up To Rain On OnePlus’ Parade

Chinese Manufacturers Gear Up To Rain On OnePlus Parade

If you have been following tech news over the past few months you might have heard about a company called OnePlus. Its a new company started by an ex-Oppo executive that going to launch its very first smartphone on April 23rd. The company has built up a lot of hype for OnePlus One and it appears that Chinese manufacturers are getting ready to rain on its parade. At least two manufacturers have lined up announcements on the very day OnePlus One is due to be launched, while one has an announcement lined up for the day before.

OnePlus has boasted a lot about the potential and power of its first smartphone. We can’t reach a verdict yet because it hasn’t shown off the phone as yet, and there’s no way to determine right now how it really performs. Though on paper it will be able to rival the best of them as it touts a Snapdragon 801 2.5GHz processor with 3GB of RAM and a 13 megapixel rear camera.

China’s Xiaomi is due to announce a new product on April 23rd. Rumor has it that the company may announce its Mi3S flagship though nothing can be said for sure right now. ZTE is also going to launch a new product under its Nubia brand come April 23rd but it isn’t known as yet what it plans to unveil.

Huawei is going to make an announcement on April 22nd. It is going to unveil the Honor X1. Either all three want to steal OnePlus’ thunder or this may be the biggest coincidence we’ve seen so far.

Huawei Ascend P7 Spotted With Metallic Chassis

Huawei Ascend P7 Spotted With Metallic ChassisIn the year 2013, the Huawei Ascend P6 was launched, where it was touted to be the slimmest smartphone that ran on the Android mobile operating system, sporting a really sleek looking metallic chassis to boot. This showed that Huawei was serious about making a splash in the design department where its hardware is concerned. Having said that, Huawei has been working on a successor to the Ascend P6, which is known as the Huawei Ascend P7 – and should its most recent leaked photos of the chassis point out anything, it would be the fact that it comes with a premium design that ditches the plastic look that lower end or entry level Android-powered smartphones come with.

The Huawei Ascend P7 is touted to come with a 5″ 1080p display, a quad-core 1.6GHz HiSilicon chipset, 2GB RAM, 16GB of internal memory, a 13MP camera at the back, and an 8MP camera in front. The particular battery that comes with it ought to have a possible capacity of 2,460mAh. Apart from that, the Huawei Ascend P7 is touted to run on the most recent Android 4.4 KitKat operating system version, arriving in possibe shades of pink, gold, silver, and black. I guess we will know more about the Huawei Ascend P7 when it is officially released this May 7th.

China Demands ‘Clear Explanation’ From U.S. On NSA’s Huawei Infiltration

China Demands Clear Explanation From U.S. On NSAs Huawei Infiltration

Chinese companies like Huawei and ZTE have come under fire a lot, particularly in the U.S., as there were concerns mounted by Washington that these companies might develop products that would let the Chinese government snoop. The allegations have always been denied. Both China and U.S. have discussed cyberattacks at length, but a recent leak by Edward Snowden might cause a build up in tension between the two behemoths. Snowden’s latest leaks allege that the National Security Agency infiltrated Huawei and even managed to get its hands on source code for individual products. China has now demanded a “clear explanation” from the U.S. on this.

Naturally both companies have denied these allegations and in the latest Snowden leak, it seems a little ironic because it has been revealed that the NSA has been spying on Huawei themselves.

This is according to a recently released report on Sunday which claims that the NSA has been snooping on Huawei and has even managed to obtain the source code for individual Huawei branded products, thus potentially allowing them to spy on other nations which uses Huawei’s hardware. (more…)
