Huawei Ascend G6 Is Now Official

Huawei Ascend G6 Is Now Official[MWC 2014] Earlier this year we had spotted the Huawei Ascend G6 at China’s Tenaa, the equivalent of the FCC, although Huawei has yet to make an official announcement regarding the device until now. The Huawei Ascend G6 has been officially announced and sure enough, it would seem as though its specs might result in a device that would seem a bit underwhelming compared to the Huawei Ascend P6, but then again with these specs we also expect that the price of the handset will be priced attractively as well.

So what can customers look forward to in the Ascend G6? In case you missed our earlier coverage, the Ascend G6 has been revealed to feature a 4.5-inch display with a resolution of 960×540. In an industry and market where Full HD, or even HD, is more or less the acceptable standards, having a 960×540 resolution does seem a little questionable. The handset will also be powered by a quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz, and it will also come with an 8MP rear-facing camera, and a 5MP front-facing camera, which is admittedly pretty large as far as front-facing cameras are concerned. The Ascend G6 will also come with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean preinstalled and will support 4G LTE connectivity. Expected to go on sale in the UK in April, there is no word on pricing and availability in other regions for now.

    Huawei MediaPad X1 Photos Leaked

Huawei MediaPad X1 Photos LeakedWe expect that MWC 2014 will contain a wealth of announcement regarding handsets from manufacturers all around the world, and Huawei is one of them. Based on what we know so far, the company is set to announce a smartwatch, the Ascend P7, any maybe the Huawei Ascend D3. That being said, it seems that we can expect Huawei to unveil the MediaPad X1 whose photo we saw not too long ago pictured alongside the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 where its whopping 7-inch display completely dwarfed the phablet.

Now thanks to additional leaked photos, we are looking at newer pictures of the upcoming phablet where we can get a glimpse at its software, along with an accessory which sort of acts like Samsung’s S View case which will display a special screen when closed. In this case it will display the time. In terms of specs, a recent trip to China’s FAA has revealed that it will pack a quad-core HiSilicon 910 CPU clocked at 1.6GHz, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of onboard storage, a 7-inch 1920×1200 display, and a whopping 6,000mAh battery. Huawei’s Upcoming Smartwatch Gets Pictured

Huaweis Upcoming Smartwatch Gets PicturedWearable technology seems to be what’s trending these days, and we can expect many such devices to be announced or rumored about this year. That being said, Huawei is said to unveil their own smartwatch at MWC 2014, and now thanks to a recent photo posted by a Huawei official on their Weibo account, we might have our first glimpse at said device. Accompanying the post is a description which reads, “My new toy, do you like this color?” As you can see in the image above, Huawei has decided to go with a more outlandish design for its smartwatch, versus the likes of the Samsung Galaxy Gear and the Pebble smartwatch, both of which feature slightly more “serious” designs.

In fact based on what we can see, it would seem that Huawei would be trying to appeal to a more fashion-conscious type of customer thanks to its funky and somewhat sporty look, not to mention the baby blue wristband does help the device stand out from the crowd. This is not to say that the design is ugly, it’s just a bit too out there and might not appeal to the more hardcore techie who might prefer something a little more somber, or to the tech-savvy business user who would prefer something less playful. Chances are we will be seeing more color options at MWC 2014, so check back with us next week for the details! In the meantime are you guys digging Huawei’s smartwatch?

Huawei’s MWC 2014 Promo Stars The iPhone And Siri

Huawei has impressed us in the past with its powerful handsets. This is actually a change of pace for the company whom a few years ago, mostly released low-mid ranged devices that extremely affordable prices. Now word on the street has it that Huawei might have a new phone in the works called the Ascend D3 which could be announced at MWC 2014. The handset, based on the rumors, sounds like a pretty powerful device with an octa-core of Huawei’s own making, a 5-inch Full HD display, and a 16MP rear-facing camera. Perhaps in a bid to help build some hype and generate some interest, Huawei has recently released a video in which the title reads, “We are ready to amaze the world again!”

Oddly enough despite Huawei having an entire stable of smartphones to call their own, the video shows what appears to be an iPhone running a cloned version of Siri which describes the sort of products we might be able to look forward to from Huawei at MWC 2014. Now upon first glance, many would assume that this is an iPhone commercial because let’s face it, the design of the phone is similar to that of the iPhone, and the interface for the voice assistant is also reminiscent of Siri. Unless the phone is actually the design of an upcoming Huawei handset, this is certainly an odd way to get people excited. The video even goes as far as poking fun at Apple and Samsung, although rather ironic given the actual video itself. What do you guys think?

South Korea Won’t Use Huawei Equipment For Sensitive Communications With U.S.

South Korea Wont Use Huawei Equipment For Sensitive Communications With U.S.

Its no secret that the U.S. doesn’t trust Huawei’s networking equipment. It has been alleged quite a few times that Huawei’s equipment might allow the Chinese government to spy and snoop around, these allegations lead to speculation late last year that Huawei could step out of the U.S. market for good. Apparently Washington had the same concerns when South Korea allowed Huawei to develop its advanced wireless network, so Seoul has reportedly agreed to route all sensitive communications with the U.S. through networks that don’t use Huawei equipment. This according to unnamed U.S. officials who spoke with The Wall Street Journal.

Huawei Ascend D3 Rumored For MWC 2014 Launch

Huawei Ascend D3 Rumored For MWC 2014 LaunchBack in 2013, Huawei unveiled the Ascend D2 which was the company’s flagship device at that time, which has us wondering if Huawei might announce its successor, the Ascend D3 this year? Perhaps at MWC 2014? Well according to the latest rumors, the answer is yes, Huawei could be set to debut the Ascend D3 at MWC 2014 which will be taking place towards the end of the month, but given that this is a rumor, you should probably try not to get your hopes up. However as we will be live at the event ourselves, do check back with us then to see if there are any Huawei-related news to be had.

So what can one expect from the Ascend D3? If the rumors are to be believed, Huawei’s 2014 flagship smartphone could pack the company’s in-house produced Kirin 920 octa-core chipset clocked at 1.8GHz, although this is not a “true” octa-core per se, but will be based on ARM’s big.LITTLE architecture that is similarly used in Samsung’s Exynos 5 series of octa-core chipsets as well. Aside from the possible octa-core processor, other rumored features of the Huawei Ascend D3 include a 5-inch Full HD display, a 16MP rear-facing camera, and a metal back. As it stands there are other Huawei devices rumored for MWC 2014, such as the Ascend P7 and Huawei’s alleged smartwatch.
