Huawei Ascend Mate 2 Photos Leaked

Huawei Ascend Mate 2 Photos LeakedEarlier this year, Huawei announced the Ascend Mate smartphone which is why it does not come as a complete surprise to think that Huawei might be looking to introduce a successor in the form of the Ascend Mate 2, which we have seen in leaked photos and certifications. In any case there is a good chance that Huawei could take advantage of CES 2014 to announce the successor of the Ascend Mate but until then, newly leaked photos of the handset has since made its way online, giving us a better glimpse at the device prior to its officially unveiling. The photos (courtesy of Engadget) shows off various angles of the handset which we have to say doesn’t look particularly flashy, but we guess it should get the job done.

As far as specs are concerned, we have only heard the rumors, but if they are to be believed, the device is rumored to sport a 6.1” display and oddly enough will keep its 1280x720p HD resolution, as opposed to upgrading it to Full HD which seems to be the standard these days. Pretty odd given that 2K phones are starting to make their appearance but we guess this is one way to keep costs down. Other rumored specs include a 1.6GHz quad-core processor of Huawei’s own make, 2GB of RAM, a 13MP rear-facing camera, and a 5MP front-facing camera, with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean running the phone.

We expect Huawei will announce the device in its official capacity at CES 2014, so be sure to check back with us then for the details. In the meantime you can check out our review of the original Ascend Mate to get an idea of what to expect.

Huawei Honor 3C Racks Up The Reservation Numbers

Huawei Honor 3C Racks Up The Reservation NumbersIt was not too long ago when we talked about the release of the Huawei Honor 3C over in China. This happens to be an affordable quad-core smartphone that will not break the bank – far from it, if you want to bring one of it home. In fact, it has been positioned to be one of the main rivals of the HongMi handset over in its home country, China. In fact, the Huawei Honor 3C has done extremely well for itself, having recorded a whopping 1.5 million reservations in just 36 hours or so, after being made available that way at 10am on 17 December 2013. The reservation for the Huawei Honor 3C will close this coming Christmas Day, so there is still plenty of time left for you to place a reservation.

Just to recap, the Huawei Honor 3C will come with a 5-inch 720p HD display, a quad-core processor, 2GB RAM, an 8-megapixel camera at the back with a 5-megapixel shooter in front, and Android Jelly Bean as the mobile operating system version of choice. Apart from that, its relatively low price point of around $130 after conversion should have something to do with the high reservation figures. Reserving it does not mean that you will have to pay for it, as you can still opt out eventually, at least in China.

    Huawei Honor 3C Announced

Huawei Honor 3C AnnouncedEarlier this morning, we talked about the Huawei Honor 3X which has been rumored for quite some time already. Well, the other less talked about device from Huawei on the same day of announcement happens to be the Huawei Honor 3C, which is a souped down version if you were to take its hardware specifications into consideration. Just what kind of hardware does the Huawei Honor 3C pack underneath the hood? For starters, you will get a 5” display that does 720p quality graphics without missing a beat, but forget about enjoying Full HD resolution here.

A quad-core MediaTek MT6589 processor which runs at 1.3GHz would power the device, where it is accompanied by 2GB RAM. Guess Huawei has thrown in the towel by not using its very own Hisilicon processor in the Honor Series for one reason or another. When you flip the Huawei Honor 3C to the back, you will find an 8-megapixel shooter there alongside a 5-megapixel front-facing camera for those video calls. Expect the 2,300mAh battery to power the Honor 3C to run throughout the day, where you can choose from half a dozen colors and two different versions – TD-SCDMA and WCDMA. Regardless of which device you pick up, they will both feature a microSD memory card slot and dual-SIM capability.

LG Strikes Down Rumors Of A Partnership With Huawei

LG Strikes Down Rumors Of A Partnership With Huawei

Many analysts expect various smartphone manufacturers to join forces in order to effectively challenge the two behemoths that have a firm grasp on the global smartphone market, Apple and Samsung. Various possible mergers have been rumored before, but none have emerged so far. Local Korean media has circulated a few rumors that LG might be looking into a partnership with Chinese manufacturer Huawei. However, LG has confirmed directly to Ubergizmo that both companies haven’t had talks as yet and that LG is in no mood of entering into a partnership right now, with anyone for that matter.

The reports which claimed that LG was seeking a merger quoted analysts who believe that to bolster its “fragile” smartphone business, LG is open to teaming up with Huawei. On the face of it, a partnership between the two doesn’t look too bad. Huawei has a firm grasp on the low-end segment of the market in particular regions, whereas LG is known for its superbly made high-end devices like the G2 and the Nexus 5, devices that enjoy exposure to all major global markets. Despite what most people would call an obvious advantage, LG says that no discussions are or have taken place with Huawei on any aspect of its business. Would the company consider a partnership, with Huawei or any other OEM in the future? Time will tell, but for now, it is flying solo.

    Huawei Unveils Honor 3X Smartphone

Huawei Unveils Honor 3X SmartphoneHuawei has decided to introduce a spanking new mid-range smartphone today, where they have called it the Honor 3X. This is their first real octa-core smartphone, which so happens to fall under the mid-range category with a 5.5” High Definition display, where it will be accompanied by a 13-megapixel shooter at the back as well as a front-facing 5-megapixel camera. Of course, in certain regions, it will be known as the Huawei Honor 3X, and in the past, it was rumored to be known as either the Huawei Honor 4, or the Huawei Glory 4 as we mentioned earlier a few days back.

The octa-core processor in question happens to be the MediaTek MT6592, and while it does feature eight 1.7GHz cores which are touted to function all at once, these happen to be Cortex-A7 ones, so you can more or less expect a performance level that is similar to that of the Snapdragon 600 in benchmark tests. We do know that the Huawei Glory 3X comes with a 3,000mAh battery and dual SIM support, among others. Will it ever arrive in the US? Perhaps, who knows? In China, it would retail in the region of 1,700 yuan, which when converted to US dollars, stands at approximately $280 thereabouts for an unlocked handset.

Huawei Ascend P7 Tipped To Roll Out In April 2014

Huawei Ascend P7 Tipped To Roll Out In April 2014Huawei has been doing pretty well for itself for quite some time already, what with the Ascend Mate 2 already being certified to go on sale in China soon. Well, we have word that there is yet another smartphone from the folks over at Huawei, coming in the form of the Ascend P7, which is speculated to roll out in April next year. This Huawei Ascend P7 smartphone will most probably be the successor to the high end Ascend P6 Android-powered smartphone (which is set to receive Android 4.4 KitKat). Word on the street has it that “exquisite materials” will be used in the manufacturing process of the Huawei Ascend P7, and hopefully, it will be more than just Swarovski crystals.

The Huawei Ascend P7 apparently also comes with the codename Sophia, where unconfirmed specifications include a 5” Full HD display, a quad-core 1.6GHz Balong 910 processor, a 13-megapixel camera at the back, an 8-megapixel shooter in front, 16GB of internal memory, 2GB RAM, a microSD memory card, and a 2,460 mAh battery. Expect the Ascend P7 to be accompanied by Huawei’s very own Emotion UI 2.0 that will run atop of Android. It remains to be seen just when will the Huawei Ascend P7 roll out next year, and how much will it cost. Image courtesy of GSMArena.

Huawei Glory 4 Or Honor 4 Could Be Introduced Next Week

Huawei Glory 4 Or Honor 4 Could Be Introduced Next WeekHuawei, the OEM from China has recently sent out an invitation for an event that will take place this coming December 16th, and when you take into consideration that the word “Honor” has already been printed on the invite itself, one would be hard pressed to think of anything else other than the fact that this would be the event where the Huawei Honor 4 is launched. Just in case you were wondering, the Huawei Honor 4 is also known as the Huawei Glory 4 in other markets. Regardless, a rose by any other name would smell just as sweet, and the Honor 4/Glory 4 will feature MediaTek’s octa-core MT65492 processor.

This celebrated processor claims to run all 8 cores simultaneously, which will be different from Samsung’s octa-core Exynos 5 chip, where the latter relies on big.LITTLE architecture which would allow a group of four cores to run at any one time. Rumored hardware specifications of the Huawei Honor 4 include a 5.5″ display at 720 x 1280 resolution, 2GB RAM, 32GB of internal memory, a 13MP shooter at the back and a 5MP front facing camera, with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean right out of the box. Now, to wait for the really serious stuff that all of us have been looking out for – pricing and availability details which will hopefully be revealed on December 16th as well.
