Huawei To Exit US Market Amidst Spy Allegations

Huawei To Exit US Market Amidst Spy AllegationsHuawei is a company known by many to produce a range of electronic devices, ranging from 3G/4G dongles to smartphones, just to name a few. However the Chinese company has come under fire earlier this year from the US government where they were accused of being security threats and possibly manufacturing spy equipment for China, which Huawei has since denied.

Well it looks like enough is enough as the Chinese company has decided to once and for all pull out from the US market. Speaking to French news website, Les Echos, Huawei’s CEO, Ren Zhengfei, had reportedly told the publication that they no longer want to stay in the US market. Ren stated that if the company gets between US and China relations, it could cause problems and that the trouble would not be worth it, thus leading to their decision to exit the US market and not stay in the middle of it. Huawei CEO to French media: “We have decided to exit the US market”

Huawei CEO Ren Zhengfei has some words for the US government and US tech companies. In light of a push in recent years by some officials and tech execs to shun Huawei and ZTE based on their alleged collusion with the Chinese government to spy on the US, Zhengfei said Huawei is “exiting the US […]

    Huawei G750 Leaked

Huawei G750 LeakedHuawei, a company that is known for its networking devices as well as slew of smartphones in recent times, just had another smartphone leaked out – namely the Huawei G750. This particular device had its photos leaked, and it does seem as though this handset will run on the MediaTek MT6592 processor, which has been touted to be the first “true” octa-core processor, where all eight cores are able to be active simultaneously, now how about that? Who knows, the Huawei G750 could very well be the exact same device that is known as the Huawei Glory 4, which is also touted to feature the very same MT6592 processor within.

According to MediaTek, this particular chipset is said to consume a whole lot less battery power in comparison to most of the quad-core processors that are found in other high end models today. Other hardware specifications of the Huawei G750 would include a 5.5” display at 720 x 1280 resolution, so no Full HD there if you were wondering. Still, perhaps news of 2GB RAM and 32GB of internal memory would help it look favorable in your eyes, not to mention a front-facing camera of 5-megapixels and a back shooter of 13-megapixels, in addition to Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean as the operating system of choice.

Huawei Glory 4 leaks with octa-core chip, 720p display and Android 4.2

It was only a few days ago that we got an early peek at what appears to be Huawei’s Ascend Mate 2. Now, according to our friends over at MyDrivers, it would appear the Chinese company also has a new Glory handset in the works — one which is said to be a planned competitor against the likes of Xiaomi’s Red Rice. Per the report, Huawei intends the Glory 4 to be a budget smartphone that packs a good amount of punch, with features such as MediaTek’s MT6592 chip (aka “the world’s first true octa-core”), 2GB RAM, 16GB of built-in storage and a 13-megapixel rear camera. The Huawei Glory 4, which could also be known as the Honor in some places, is expected to run Emotion UI 2.0 alongside Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) when it becomes official. Unfortunately, there’s no word on the Glory 4’s screen size, though the recent leak does suggest it’ll be a 720p display onboard.

Purported Huawei Ascend Mate 2 Pictures And Specs Leaked

Purported Huawei Ascend Mate 2 Pictures And Specs Leaked

Huawei is definitely one of the major smartphone vendors in the global smartphone market, the company is quite popular in certain regions even if it has little presence in the West. We’ve seen it unveil quite a few Android devices with respectable specifications, it even had the world’s slimmest Android smartphone at one point in time. It appears that the Chinese manufacturer is working on a successor for the Ascend Mate. Rumor has it that Huawei might unveil Ascend Mate 2 at CES 2014, which seems plausible, given the fact that the original Ascend Mate was also unveiled at CES earlier this year.

The Huawei Ascend Mate 2 is said to have a 1.6GHz quadcore HiSilicon Kirin 910 processor with a Mali-450 GPU. It is expected that the successor might come with a much better display, the Ascend Mate had a 6.1 inch 720p display, its likely that the Mate 2 might tout the full 1080p HD. The device is also said to come with 2GB RAM, 16GB of onboard storage and Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean with version 2.0 of Huawei’s own Emotion UI slapped on top. No word as yet on pricing and availability, though it wouldn’t be too much of a surprise if this smartphone never makes it to the West. This is the first major leak we’ve seen about the Ascend Mate 2, if it is definitely going to be unveiled at CES 2014, then its quite possible that there will be more in the coming weeks. Qualcomm, Cisco execs cite spy suspicion for shaken China tech trade

We’ve been covering the NSA and other spy agencies pretty faithfully here at SlashGear, and while all that cloak-and-dagger, hack-and-spy, Big-Brother-Is-Watching-You drama can be provocative, that’s not why we cover it. We cover it because it affects the tech industry and, by extension, the gadgets we obsess over. The reverberations of mass data surveillance by […]

Huawei’s Ascend Mate successor said to feature higher-res display, slightly improved internals

We have seen a number of overly large smartphones come and go since Huawei debuted its Ascend Mate, and it would appear that the company is getting ready to introduce a successor soon. According to recent leaks, the Ascend Mate 2, as it’ll presumably be dubbed, will sport a 6.1-inch display similar to its predecessor but with a higher resolution — namely, 1080p. Internally, Huawei News reports that the next Ascend Mate is set to feature a 1.6GHz, quad-core Kirin910 chip alongside 2GB RAM, 16GB of built-in storage and Android 4.2.2 (with Emotion UI, of course). Obviously, we won’t know the definite specs until the day the device is official, so don’t make any final judgements just yet. For now, treat yourself to some additional leaked pictures at the source link below.

Huawei Ascend W2 To See A November Release

Huawei Ascend W2 To See A November ReleaseWhen it comes to Windows Phone devices, Nokia is probably the name that most people are familiar with, but let’s not forget the folks at Huawei who also make such devices, like the recently announced Huawei Ascend W2. The handset was officially announced earlier this month, although Huawei did leave out certain details, such as when the handset would be made available, and how much it will cost. The latter will presumably depend on where you are, but in China it is reportedly selling for around $150, so we don’t expect it to deviate too much from its price.

As for availability, Huawei has announced that the handset will be made available  in Russia and the Netherlands later this month, and is expected to roll out to markets such a India in the near future as well. The Huawei Ascend W2, for those who might have forgotten, comes in a variety of different colors, such as black, blue, yellow, or red. It will feature a 4.3” IPS WVGA LCD TFT display with Magic Touch technology. It will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor clocked at 1.4GHz (dual-core), 512MB of RAM, and will come with 8GB of onboard storage with microSD support. It will also feature a 5MP rear-facing camera and will not come with a front-facing camera, unfortunately.

ARM Confirms Mali 450 GPU In Huawei Ascend P6S

ARM Confirms Mali 450 GPU In Huawei Ascend P6SThe Huawei P6S is one upcoming smartphone that has more or less remained shrouded in mystery. Why do we say so? For starters, there were whispers, no less by the Huawei president himself who has confirmed that the Huawei Ascend P6S will arrive with an octa-core processor, only to have some leaked specifications of said handset revealed later on that do not point to an octa-core processor. This is definitely confusing for the end user, and this time around, we have some snippets of information from ARM that showcases a device that could easily pass off for the Huawei Ascend P6S, although it will be powered by a spanking new Huawei chipset that is known as the HiSilicon Kirin910.

The product description of this new Huawei chipset points to a quad-core Cortex-A9 processor and Mali 450 graphics chipset, where it promises to offer a “perfectly smooth gaming experience”. Assuming this is true, then there should not be any octa-core processor underneath the hood, and hopefully the performance of the final product will fall within expectations of the masses. We do hope to hear something official from Huawei in the near and immediate future, as it can get pretty tiring to “survive” on rumors alone.
