Huawei Ascend P6S Leaked Specs Do Not Hint At Octa-Core Processor

Huawei Ascend P6S Leaked Specs Do Not Hint At Octa Core ProcessorIt does seem to be a case of conflicting signals here, as we did hear about the upcoming Huawei Ascend P6S to arrive with an octa-core processor according to the Huawei president, Xu Xin Quan. Apparently, that does not seem to be the case according to the most recent leak of the Huawei Ascend P6S’ specifications as there was not a single sign that pointed to an octa-core CPU.

It does seem as though this particular device will arrive with an upgraded version of the quad-core K3V2 Cortex A9 that can be found in the predecessor, the Ascend P6. Apart from that, this processor could deliver better performance and lower power consumption thanks to the 28nm manufacturing process that was used for the manufacturing of the processor, alongside a 1.6GHz clock speed. There is also 16GB of internal memory, being 3mm thicker overall compared to the Ascend P6. You will be able to expand upon the internal memory using a microSD memory card slot, where it will be topped off with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and Huawei’s very own Emotion UI 1.6 skin. Hopefully what the Huawei President mentioned will eventually come true. Would you want to pick up the Huawei Ascend P6S when it finally arrives?

Huawei Ascend W2 offers Windows Phone 8 option to the masses

huawei-ascend-w2When we talk about Windows Phone 8 devices, most of the time, our minds would shift towards Nokia as the hardware manufacturer of choice (who has since been purchased by Microsoft a few months ago). Of course, Samsung as well as HTC have also engaged themselves in the world of Windows Phone 8 but their smartphone offerings tend to lean more toward the direction of Android. Well, perhaps there is another name for you to consider if you want something different from Android and iOS, and yet do not want to touch the apparent sinking ship of BlackBerry OS, and that would be Huawei with their new Windows Phone 8-powered Huawei Ascend W2.

The Huawei Ascend W2 will bring with it a burst of color to the smartphone experience, where you will be able to choose from a range of vibrant finishes that will include black, blue, yellow, and red shades. Underneath the hood, you will find a Qualcomm Snapdragon dual-core 1.4GHz processor, where this new Windows Phone 8 device will not fall short of processing power either, as you should be able to chat, text, game and browse on it without batting an eyelid.

As for the rest of the hardware specifications that will accompany the Huawei Ascend W2, we are looking at a 4.3-inch IPS WVGA LCD screen that delivers a brighter and more vivid display, TFT Magic Touch technology that offers touchscreen responsiveness even when you are wearing a glove, 720P support for video recording and playback, Windows Phone Store support, as well as the ability to hook up to the cloud to be more productive while you are on the go. After all, the Huawei Ascend W2 is synchronized automatically to 7GB of free SkyDrive cloud storage to get you started right out of the box. It will arrive in China first, before making its way to other markets in time to come.

Huawei President Confirms Octa-core Ascend P6S

Huawei President Confirms Octa core Ascend P6SMost phones these days are of the quad-core variety, and are usually running either Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800 chipset, NVIDIA’s Tegra 4, or Samsung’s Exynos 5-series (these are usually exclusive for Samsung’s products). However it seems that we might be able to look forward to an octa-core phone from Huawei in the near future, as it was recently confirmed by the company’s president himself. According to Huawei President, Xu Xin Quan, he has recently confirmed that the Ascend P6 will be getting a successor in the form of the Ascend P6S that will feature a true octa-core processor which will be powered by MediaTek.

As it stands Samsung has their own octa-core chipset, but instead of all eight cores used at once, Samsung instead relies on the big.LITTLE technology which essentially swaps between 2 sets of four cores, with one set being a less powerful version that is used to accomplish less demanding tasks, while the more powerful set will be used when more power is needed. No word on pricing or availability of the Huawei Ascend P6S, but with CES 2014 and MWC 2014 taking place early next year, perhaps we will find out more then.

Huawei Ascend P6 Set To Receive Android 4.4 KitKat

Huawei Ascend P6 Set To Receive Android 4.4 KitKatThe Huawei Ascend P6, a smartphone which was first released to the masses sometime in the middle of this year, did arrive with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean in tow back then. However, all was not all peaches and cream with the Huawei Ascend P6 after its launch. Since the handset came in an extremely slim form factor, the older generation quad-core processor that ran under the hood found it difficult to keep the temperature down. Hopefully the folks over at Huawei have managed to do something about that prickly situation by now, but at least there is some good news for Ascend P6 owners. The handset has just received official confirmation that it will be on the receiving end of the Android 4.4 KitKat update.

Apparently, folks over in China have used Baidu as the platform to disseminate such information, announcing that this extremely slim smartphone will receive Android 4.4 KitKat later next January. One thing is for sure, the Huawei Ascend P6 will not be the only smartphone that will receive this mobile operating system update, and it will not be the last, either. If you are a proud owner of the Huawei Ascend P6, are you looking forward to this bit of news being fulfilled to the letter?

IDC shows all phone shipments rise but Nokia

It would appear that we’ve got a bit of a rarity going on this quarter for phone and smartphone shipments across the world according to the IDC. Huawei ban upheld in Australia following government review

Huawei, alongside with ZTE, has been the subject of concerns and scrutiny by the United States government and others, with fears revolving around possible spying that could be taking place on behalf of the Chinese government. The maker has previously been banned from use on Australia’s National Broadband Network, something that was recently reviewed with […]

Huawei Denies Manufacturing Spyphones For Government In China

Huawei Denies Manufacturing Spyphones For Government In ChinaHuawei, the China-based company that rolls out networking products as well as smartphones among others, has stepped forward with a denial that they happen to manufacture spy phones for the current government in China. Recently, Huawei did write in a cybersecurity paper where they mentioned that they have never been ordered by the Chinese government in order to make use of its smartphones or telecom equipment so that the government is able to spy on customers.

This particular statement was released at a time when it has been seen to be a security risk by the American government for its supposed ties to the Chinese government. This is not the first country to have such concerns, as slightly more than a year ago, we did bring you word that Canada themselves are mulling over the possibility of banning Huawei device because of security worries and potential issues. Other major tech companies that are also involved in allegations of colluding with its government to spy on customers, including Microsoft, Google, Facebook and other tech giants, did also issue somewhat similar statements themselves, reassuring the masses that they are not being spied upon by the National Security Agency. Who can we believe these days?

Huawei: It’ll take 10 years to convince the US we’re safe

Huawei has admitted that it may take up to a decade to convince the US that it is not a potential security risk, though the Chinese firm argues that it is held to a “higher bar” than rivals. Describing the reticence to allow Huawei hardware and software into sensitive installations as “genuine concerns”, Huawei global […]
