Samsung Releases IFA 2013 Teaser Video

Come IFA 2013, Samsung will be holding their Unpacked event in which the company’s upcoming Galaxy Note 3 smartphone and Galaxy Gear smartwatch have been confirmed for an announcement. Given that we’re still a few more days away from Samsung’s 4th of September event, the company has since posted a teaser video leading up to the event. The video has been titled, “Secret of Samsung Technology caught on tape” and basically shows an alien running about Samsung’s offices, interacting with employees, and partaking in daily activities, leading us to believe that Samsung’s technology has been invented by aliens! Unfortunately the video does not reveal anything about the Galaxy Note 3 or the Galaxy Gear, although we guess a leaked prototype has done a somewhat decent job at clueing us in to what we might be able to expect. In any case if you have a minute to spare, you can check out Samsung’s IFA teaser in the video above.

Acer Aspire R7 updated with fourth gen Intel processors and Acer Active Pen

Acer is on hand at IFA 2013 and has pulled the wraps off an updated Aspire R7 notebook. This isn’t a completely new notebook, we reviewed the first generation back in June. The updated notebook still has the fancy Ezel hinge for the screen. That hinge allows the notebook to be used in several modes […]

Samsung Galaxy Note 3′s Snapdragon 800 Chipset “Confirmed” By South Korean Carrier

Samsung Galaxy Note 3s Snapdragon 800 Chipset Confirmed By South Korean CarrierIt was previously rumored that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 3 could be launched in either Qualcomm or Exynos variants, and recent rumors have suggested that due to some issues with the Exynos 5420 chip, the Galaxy Note 3 could be launched with the Snapdragon 800 chipsets at the start while Samsung sorts the issue out. While Samsung has yet to confirm anything yet, it has been highly speculated that the handset could feature the Snapdragon 800 chipset and according to a leaked carrier document by South Korean carrier, KT, it has been “confirmed” that the Galaxy Note 3 will indeed launch with the Snapdragon 800 chipset on board.

This isn’t too surprising given that the Snapdragon 800 chipset is currently the only SoC that supports LTE-A networks, such as the one planned to be launched by KT later this month, and will offer users speeds of up to 150Mbps. Unfortunately apart from the “confirmation” of the chipset, the rest of the specs of the device remain unknown, although at this point in time the rumors are pointing at a 5.7” Full HD 1080p display, 3GB of RAM, a 13MP rear-facing camera that could capture 4K video, and Android 4.3 Jelly Bean running the show.

In any case Samsung will be unveiling the Galaxy Note 3 at their 4th of September event at IFA 2013 in Berlin, so be sure to check back with us then for the details!

LG will launch its first flat 55-inch OLED HDTV this week in Germany

LG will launch its first flat 55inch OLED HDTV this week

While we’re happy just to see a brand new display technology hit the streets, it was shocking to see LG and Samsung kick off the OLED era with curved displays. That’s going to change however, as LG is bringing the 55EA8800 display to IFA 2013 this week with the notable characteristic of having a shape that’s just like every other HDTV. That it’s flat instead of curved also means this is the first wall-mountable OLED TV, and LG is topping off the experience with 2.2-channel “Canvas Speakers” integrated with a faux art mat behind the display itself. The art theme continues with a “Gallery Mode” that displays high res artwork from painters including Vincent van Gogh and Paul Gauguin, or ones personal family pictures. There’s no word on pricing yet, but after its German introduction other markets are expected to follow — check after the break for the press release and in the gallery for a few more pictures. %Gallery-slideshow77145%

    ASUS Teases New Transformer Tablet

ASUS Teases New Transformer TabletEarlier this year ASUS announced a new tablet, the ASUS Transformer Pad Infinity which was recently spotted at the FCC, but it seems that ASUS might have a new Transformer tablet to announce, thanks to a post on its Facebook page in which the teaser reads, “We Transform Your Mobility” with a countdown to IFA 2013. Unfortunately for us the teaser doesn’t tell us much, although it is speculated that this new tablet will focus more on mobility, which could mean it could possibly be both thinner and lighter at the same time.

In any case ASUS’ announcement will coincide with a lot of other announcements made by other companies, such as Samsung who will be unveiling the Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Gear, and Sony who will unveil the their upcoming Xperia Z1 handset as well, meaning that ASUS had better have a product worthy of stealing the show, or at least leaving a good impression. So far ASUS’ Transformer tablets have been relatively successful in the Android tablet market and it will be interesting to see what they have for us this time round.

Galaxy Note 3 Pictured Once Again

Galaxy Note 3 Pictured Once Again

There have been uncountable rumors and leaks about the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. The company has confirmed that it will officially unveil the new phablet on September 4th, an event has been scheduled and invites to the press have been sent out. All that’s left to do is to make the announcement. Till that happens though, we’re bound to hear more rumors and see more leaks, it seems inevitable. A purported picture of Galaxy Note 3 has leaked online. The picture reveals that the device might have less rounded corners as opposed to its predecessor and might also have slimmer bezels.

Despite all of the leaks and rumors, not much is known about the design of Galaxy Note 3. We’ve seen a few images leak in the past but none of them have been able to clearly show us what the upcoming phablet looks like. This particular picture hints at the possibility of Galaxy Note 3 not having corners that are rounded as much as they are on Galaxy Note 2. When the new phablet’s purported front panel was leaked last week, we saw slimmer bezels. They’re seen once again in this picture, does that mean the Galaxy Note 3 really does have slim bezels? One can’t say for sure since the image is, after all, from an unofficial source and is quite blurry. Fortunately, we only have to wait for a couple of more days before Samsung shows the device in all its glory. [Image via TechKiddy]
