It was just a few weeks ago when Actiivsion and Infinity Ward published a brand-new trailer for their upcoming Call of Duty: Ghosts which had one of the first tracks of Eminem’s upcoming album playing in the background of all of the Call of Duty action. Gamescom 2013 is set to kick off later this month, which is Europe’s answer to E3 where a number of publishers and developers go to show off their upcoming titles. One such company that is expected to make a big splash during the show is Activision as they’re expected to unveil details on Call of Duty: Ghosts’ multiplayer modes. At this point, details concerning the game’s multiplayer modes are scarce, but at least one new mode for the game was teased over the weekend. (more…)

Ever since the box art for what seemed to be the next Call of Duty game, Call of Duty: Ghosts, appeared on the Internet last week, we’ve been hearing little bits of info with an expected unveiling of the game happening today. It looks like that’s exactly what is happening as Activision is announcing Call of Duty: Ghosts today.
Call of Duty: Ghosts is being developed by long-time Call of Duty franchise developer, Infinity Ward, and is expected to be the first Call of Duty title that is being made available on next-generation consoles as well as the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC on November 5. According to the press release issued today, Call of Duty: Ghosts “ushers in the next generation of the franchise” by delivering “a riveting all-new gameplay experience built on an entirely new story, setting and cast of characters, all powered by a new, next generation Call of Duty engine.” (more…)

We’ve seen the box art for something called “Call of Duty: Ghosts“ pop up last week and earlier this morning, it showed up in Spanish retailer’s Xtralife’s product listings where it’s expected to be released on the PS3, Xbox 360, PC and Wii U. But when will either Infinity Ward or Activision make the big unveiling of what looks to be their next Call of Duty game?
According to a recently leaked blueprints for a promotional display for Call of Duty: Ghosts, it looks as though we could be hearing about the game on May 1st as the blueprints clearly state its display should arrive by 5/1 and should not be displayed until that date. At this point, it’s unknown what will exactly be revealed on May 1 as Activision can choose to simply officially release the next Call of Duty game’s box art and call it a day. Or, if Activision follows their reveal for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, we could maybe see a trailer on May 1 along with some basic story details.
Either way, Call of Duty fans should circle May 1 on their calendars as being a pretty important day to check the Internet to hear more about Call of Duty: Ghosts.

If you’re a Modern Warfare 3 Elite member, you will be pleased to learn that according to Infinity Ward’s Twitter post, Elite members on the PlayStation 3 can expect to receive content drops 16, 17 and 18 on the 16th of August. According to the tweet, “Next #MW3 PS3 Elite content drops 8/16. Includes: 2 MP maps Decommission & Offshore + Spec Ops mission Vertigo.” Decommission will take place on a mid-sized ship graveyard, Offshore will be a close-quarters map on an oil rig and Vertigo will task players with taking out enemy helicopters from a rooftop of a hotel in Dubai. If you own the Xbox 360, fret not as you might recall, it was a couple of days ago when exclusive content for the 360 Elite members was revealed.

DLC map packs are one of the reasons that Call of Duty fans continue to play the games, it keeps the experience fresh with new maps and gameplay modes. Today, some images of the next DLC map pack release have been leaked online. Some gameplay was also uploaded, but it was quickly taken down by YouTube. The names of the three maps are Boardwalk, Gulch, and Parish.
