Verizon In Talks With Content Providers For Internet TV Service

Last year it was rumored multiple times that Verizon was interesting in acquiring Intel’s failed OnCue internet TV service. While other suitors were rumored as well, ultimately OnCue did end up in Verizon’s lap. Now it remains to be seen just how Big Red plans to take the nascent service forward, and it appears that the company has already started courting content providers. While speaking at a conference, Verizon CEO Lowell McAdam confirmed that he has personally begun discussions with “CEOs of large content companies.”

    Intel Rumored To Have Acquired Basis Science

    Intel Rumored To Have Acquired Basis ScienceAccording to a report from February, it was suggested that Basis Science, the maker of the Basis Health Tracker Watch, was shopping around for companies who would be willing to acquire them. At that time it was suggested that Basis was looking at tech giants such as Apple, Google, Samsung, and Microsoft, but now according to a recent report from TechCrunch, their sources have informed them that Intel was the one who eventually picked them up.

    The report claims that the company was acquired by Intel with one of their sources claiming that the deal could be worth $100 million, while another said that it was around $150 million. Either way it is still a lot of money, although we’re not sure what Intel plans to do with the company at the moment. (more…)

    Intel has released a new line of SSDs, the SSD 730 Series. Coming in both 240GB and 480 capacities, these 2.5-inch SSDs are equipped with 20nm MLC NAND Flash memory chips, a SATA 6.0 Gbps interface, a MTBF of 1.2 million hours and can deliver read/write speeds of up to 550/270 MB/s (240GB) and 550/470 MB/s (480GB), respectively.
