Haswell Mac Mini Release Expected Soon

Haswell Mac Mini Release Expected Soon

There hasn’t been much talk about the Mac mini. The last time it was refreshed was back in October 2012, when it came with Intel Ivy Bridge processors and the option to upgrade RAM up to 16GB. Mac mini happens to be the only product in Apple’s Mac lineup that wasn’t updated in 2013. The company refreshed its iMac, MacBook Pro and MacBook Air with Intel’s latest Haswell processors, it even launched a radically revamped Mac Pro. Rumor has it that Haswell Mac mini release might take place next month, as a retailer in Belgium has already listed both Core i5 and Core i7 Haswell configurations of the Mac mini.

64-Bit Android Tablets Expected By Next Quarter

64 Bit Android Tablets Expected By Next Quarter

Apple beat its rivals to the punch by launching the iPhone 5s, iPad Air and Retina iPad mini late last year, all their mobile devices are powered by the company’s 64-bit A7 processor. The 64-bit race is now on, with a lot of companies now manufacturing their own chips that are going to debut soon, in a couple of months in fact. During the company’s earnings conference call with analysts, Intel CEO Brian Krzanich commented that 64-bit Android tablets will be launched by next quarter, these tablets will be powered by Intel’s latest Atom Bay Trail processor.

Bay Trail was originally focused on Windows, with the processors being largely restricted to Windows 8.1 devices, however the company shifted its focus to Android devices mid-development. This is one of the reasons why 64-bit Android devices powered by Intel’s processors have to face a delay in being released to the market. The company first demonstrated 64-bit Android powered by Bay Trail in November 2013. Bay Trail happens to be the first processor with 64-bit editions that are geared towards tablets, 64-bit support not only improves performance, but also ramps up security. It has already made its mark on desktop and server machines, and it was only a matter of time before it entered the mainstream mobile market.
