Things are going to change once iOS 7 hits your iPhone next week. Doesn’t matter if you’re buying the new iPhone 5C or 5S or not, all those icons you’ve gotten used to will morph into brighter, flatter and larger versions of what you know. Best part about this GIF though? Scott Forstall’s creepy smile morphing into Jony Ive’s stone cold staredown. YOU WILL LIKE IOS 7. [GadgetLove]
With the release of the first teaser images of the Huawei Ascend P6, it was instantly apparent that the manufacturer was gunning for the successful hardware build of the iPhone 5. This device had the same metal rim, the same glass up front, and the same metal back – it was – and is –
Earlier this month, we heard reports both Samsung Galaxy and iOS devices were in the process of being approved to be used by the U.S. Department of Defense. Soon after that report, we heard both BlackBerry and Samsung devices were approved, […]

This afternoon a new build is on the way to what appears to be only iPhone 5 users with iOS 6.1.4. This update does very little outside of bringing on an updated audio profile for the user’s speakerphone and weighs in at a generous 11.5 MB. This download is best made over wifi, and goes by the build number 10B350.
Though this update is a minor one, you’ll want to initiate it as soon as possible. It’s not unheard of that Apple will include minor security updates inside a software update directed at a single model device. Though we’ve got no official suggestion from Apple noting security specifically in this update, fixes for minor bugs have always been a part of software update pushes such as this.
The iPhone 5 has been tipped to be seeing iOS 7 before the end of the year, with the developer conference WWDC 2013 coming up quick. This developer conference, taking place at the Moscone Center in California as in years’ past, will play host to not only a new iteration of Apple’s mobile operating system, but will introduce a new edition of the desktop user interface as well.
With Jony Ive behind the wheel of the UI for Apple’s future here in 2013, users will see what’s been tipped to be a much more flattened-out set of graphics and an overall smoother experience. Have a peek at our Apple hub to follow the company into their developer conference WWDC 2013 June 10th through the 14th – we’ll be there!

As expected, the Pentagon is said to be preparing to approve the use of various Apple and Samsung devices by employees of the US Department of Defense. The US government’s Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) will reportedly rule that Samsung Galaxy smartphones and iOS devices running iOS 6 meet standards to allow them to be used in the Pentagon.
According to the Wall Street Journal, the Pentagon will approve Samsung and Apple devices separately, as it’s said that Samsung devices will be approved for internal email use, while iOS devices will be approved for other “nonclassified communication” methods. This seems that the Pentagon is dealing the approval with slight caution, which is unsurprising since they’ve relied on BlackBerry for so many years.
The Pentagon isn’t a huge market for Apple or Samsung, but the approval could give both Apple and Samsung permission to boast about the security of their two platforms, which in turn could result in more sales for the two companies. And while the Pentagon isn’t pushing out BlackBerry, we could see a drop in BlackBerry devices being used in the Pentagon.
When Samsung announced its GALAXY S 4 smartphone, it also announced a new security platform called Knox, which is made to secure your sensitive work information, but while also keeping your personal life separate and readily available. The Pentagon could be looking at this as a crucial feature in their approval process.

Apple has just added a new download option to the iTunes Store that will allow users to buy content and download the content later. The option is available for users who have iTunes 11 installed on their computers, or users who are running iOS 6 on their iPhone, iPad, or iPod devices. The option is only available when you purchase TV episodes, movies, TV seasons, season passes, movie bundles, or music box sets.
For those of you running iTunes 11, you will have three options available to you when you’re downloading TV seasons, season passes, and movie bundles. You have the standard download button, which will download the first unseen episode or movie in the series, the Download All button, which lets you download your entire package in one go, or the Later button, which lets you choose when you want to download your files (perfect for those of you who don’t want to lag your fellow housemates with your downloads).
For music box sets, or individual TV show/movie downloads, you will only be given the standard Download button and the Later button. For those of you downloading files on your iOS 6 devices, you will only be given the standard Download button and Later button, even if you purchase an entire season on your device. You should note that in the “complete your season pass or TV season” options, the download button will download the latest episode available, not the episode you left off at.
The new download options aren’t available in every country just yet, mainly in countries that do not have iTunes in the Cloud support, so unfortunately, those users will have to download their files once they complete their transactions. The new Download Later option is a feature that users have been asking for for quite some time. It allows users to download their shows and music at their own convenience.

New download options were recently added to iTunes 11 and iOS 6. Customers that use the iTunes Store for purchasing content now have the option to save their movies or music so that they can be downloaded later. This feature is pretty simple, on the face of it, but a very useful one. Though it should be kept in mind that this particular feature is only available in the countries where iTunes in the Cloud is supported. Apple’s website has the full list of countries that are supported.
To use the download later option in iTunes Store, a customer must have an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch that is running iOS 6.0 firmware or higher. For Mac and PC machines iTunes 11 is mandatory. When the customer makes a large purchase they will be given the options “Download” or “Later.” If the customer selects “Later,” the content is then stored in the Purchased section from where it can be downloaded at any time as per the customer’s will. The option applies to movies, Season Pass, TV episodes, music box sets or music content that will take a lot of time to download as compared to one track or album.

iOS 6.1.3 was released last week in order to help fix its passcode security flaw, but it looks as though Apple may have rushed its release a tad as a number of iOS users who updated to the latest version are complaining of both battery drain and Wi-Fi issues.
A number of iOS users have taken to Apple’s Support Communities forum to reveal iOS 6.1.3 has been draining their batteries more quickly than it did in iOS 6.1.2. Some users even reported a continued drain on their battery even after they turned off all notifications and even going as far as restoring their device to its factory settings. (more…)
