When the redesigned iPhone 5s home button flex cable first appeared with a slightly different configuration from the cable for the iPhone 5, it was suggested to have been to make way for Touch ID. Apple’s Touch ID does indeed exist on the iPhone 5s – that’s fingerprint sensing technology for iDevices, if you did […]
No operating system launch is without a few bugs, but it seems like iOS 7 has had more than it’s fair share of blunders. From iMessages not working to lock screen exploits, here are some of the biggest bugs, and how you can fix them.
While demand for the gold-colored iPhone 5s seems to have been high the world over, the oddest cultural response continues to be in China, where the device is given the nickname “Tyrant King.” It’s there also that some of the highest prices have been demanded, with some 3rd party sellers taking the opportunity to follow […]
There have been grumbles in the Applesphere since the iPhone 5s launch from some owners who have experienced problems with the handset’s onboard motion sensors, including the gyroscope, accelerometer, and compass. To test the nature of the complaints, the folks over at Gizmodo broke out a leveling tool and compass, among other things, revealing that […]
Apple release iOS 7 across a large number of iOS devices just a few weeks ago, but it looks like some users are reporting the update is causing them to feel motion sickness when using their iOS device. With all of the new animation effects as well as the overall look of iOS 7, we could see why some people would become sick when using their iOS device. Up until now, there hasn’t been any remedy to the feeling of motion sickness people have been feeling, but Jimmy Kimmel may have found a solution for you. (more…)

The other day we reported that there were some iOS users who were complaining of their iMessage woes, basically stating that the problem was that iMessages sometimes did not deliver, or sometimes it failed to send as a text message in instances where internet was not readily available. A temporary solution was found which was to reset the iPhone’s network settings, and to disable and re-enable iMessage. Granted this isn’t a solution that everyone will know about or know how to do themselves, but in any case Apple has since acknowledge that they are aware of the issue and are working on an update that will fix it.
According to Apple who made a statement to the Wall Street Journal, “We are aware of an issue that affects a fraction of a percent of our iMessage users, and we will have a fix available in an upcoming software update […] In the meantime, we encourage any users having problems to reference our troubleshooting documents or contact AppleCare to help resolve their issue. We apologize for any inconvenience this causes impacted users.” As it stands there are other bugs that Apple needs to address, so hopefully all of this will be addressed in the company’s next update, presumably with the upcoming iOS 7.0.3 which has been pegged for a release next week.
Apple Acknowledges iMessage Issues, Update On Its Way original content from Ubergizmo.
iMessage has been screwing up. Which, well, isn’t news to people who have been burned by iMessage before. But! It’s been screwing up more than usual. Enough that Apple has finally admitted that a "fraction of a percent" of iMessage users are having issues with the blue text bubble messaging service. Are you included in that fraction of a percent?
Last month, on September 18th to be precise, Apple seeded the much awaited iOS 7 firmware update to customers. The day it released its new iPhones the company rolled out an incremental bug fixing update, iOS 7.0.1, for them. A couple of weeks later it was reported that iOS 7 had a couple of gaping security vulnerabilities. Apple then seeded iOS 7.0.2 to big those bugs. According to a new report by BGR, Apple has already seeded iOS 7.0.3 to its partners and employees. The company is expected to rollout this firmware update to the public sometime next week.
The report doesn’t give a concrete release date, only timeframe of next week is provided. Since iOS 7.0.3 is likely to be an incremental update, given its version number, one can’t expect it come bearing any new features. There is a possibility that it might bring additional bug fixes, particularly for the one that has been affecting a large number of iMessage users. Build number of iOS 7.0.3 is said to be 11B491. The next major iOS update, iOS 7.1, is expected to be released later this month. This particular update is said come pre-installed on the company’s new tablets, both of which are reportedly going to be unveiled on October 15th.
iOS 7.0.3 Will Reportedly Be Released Next Week original content from Ubergizmo.
iOS 7 was released to the public a couple of weeks ago and as expected with most releases, there will be a couple of teething problems that can be expected, especially since the software will be used by millions around the world, leading to various bugs that could have been missed during the beta. One of the bugs involved a lock screen vulnerability that has since been patched with iOS 7.0.2, although it turns out in the process of fixing the bug, a new bug was discovered which pretty much allowed a hacker to gain access to various aspects of your phone even if it is protected by a passcode.
The process is not one that will be known by most, and it’s probably one you might not have figured out, but if you check out the video above, it certainly looks like it can be done. In any case we expect Apple is probably well aware of this bug by now and is probably working on an update that will fix it, so if you’re an iPhone user, you can expect another minor update to address this bug in the near future. In the meantime you can check out the video above to see the bug in action.
