iOS 7 Adoption Rate Now At 74.1%

iOS 7 Adoption Rate Now At 74.1%Apple’s iOS 7 was released back in September earlier this year and in about a week since its launch, the operating system managed to achieve an adoption rate of 52% by iOS users, but it seems that adoption rates might have slowed down a tad. According to Chitika’s recent numbers, they have revealed that iOS 7 is now installed on 74.1% on all iOS devices, although this is significantly faster compared to iOS 6’s adoption rate. Back in 2012, iOS 6 took about 6 months before hitting the 83% mark, so for iOS 7 to hit 74.1% in 2 months, we suspect it should have no problem beating iOS 6’s adoption rate in the next couple of months.

One of the reasons that might have attributed to the high adoption rate of iOS 7 could be the fact that unlike previous iOS updates, iOS 7 is a complete game changer. It features a new and refreshing design and introduced a host of new features that some iOS users have been asking for. However there are also those who don’t particularly enjoy the new look, calling it cartoony, with some even suffering from motion sickness due to iOS 7’s parallax feature. According to Chitika, they also state that amongst iPad owners, the lower adoption rates could be due to how some features, such as AirDrop, are not available for the iPad 2 and 3, thus minimizing incentives to update.

WhatsApp Finally Receives iOS 7 Update

WhatsApp Finally Receives iOS 7 UpdateWhatsApp has been released on iOS for several years now, but for some reason the developers behind the company have taken a long time to issue out major updates. For example when the iPhone 5 was first released, it took them several months before the app was compatible with the phone, and now with iOS 7, it’s taken WhatsApp a couple of months but the good news for iOS 7 users is that the update has since been released. The app now features a design that seems to be more or less in line with iOS 7’s flatter and cleaner interface.

Apart from the visual overall, the update also brings about additional features and changes. This includes a new icon, improved share locations with 3D map view, new notification alerts and sounds, and also larger thumbnails when sending videos and photos. Prior to today’s release, the app was seen in photos and videos, suggesting that the update was imminent, but no timeframe was given for its release. According to the latest figures, WhatsApp is apparently the most popular messaging service, overtaking Facebook’s own Messenger platform. In any case the update is available for download via the iTunes App Store, so what are you waiting for?

Dropbox Releases Update For iOS 7

Dropbox Releases Update For iOS 7Just last week, Dropbox unveiled what looked like a potentially new design for iOS 7. The good news for Dropbox users is that if you did not already set your apps to be updated automatically, you can hit up the iTunes App Store and download the update which will bring your version of Dropbox up to the latest version where not only has the app been redesigned to fit the overall flatter and minimalist theme of iOS 7, but it has also introduced a host of small tweaks that should hopefully make your Dropbox experience better.

For example Dropbox has integrated the support for AirDrop, allowing users to share links and files easily, and have also reportedly increased the speed of the app as well, such as photo loading and video playback. They have also corrected some minor bugs that caused the app to crash once in a while. In any case the visual redesign is a welcome change, so if you don’t already use Dropbox, you can download it for free via the iTunes App Store. In the meantime what do you guys make of the latest changes? Do you love the new design of the app?

WhatsApp is undoubtedly one of the most popular messaging platforms around at the moment, and while it made its initial debut on iOS devices, surprisingly the company has yet to release an update that would bring the app in line with the look and feel of Apple’s iOS 7, which sports a cleaner, flatter, and more minimal look, instead choosing to update the app for other platforms instead.
