‘Secrets’ App Offers an Anonymous Way of Sharing Secrets

Have a secret or two you want to get off your chest without telling the world or revealing your identity in the process? There’s an app for that.

Secret App 620x395magnify

It’s called Secret, and it lets people post random thoughts, deep dark secrets, and everything in between on a neat, user-friendly platform. It does all this without displaying any names or personal information. What makes it different from other apps is the fact that only people in your contacts (who also have the app installed) can see your posts.

Your secrets are delivered anonymously to the people in your Contacts who are on Secret. They can view, love and comment on your post. When friends love your secret, it will be shared to their friends. If they love the post, it can reach even further. When your secret travels beyond two degrees, it will be marked with your general location, like “California”. People beyond two degrees will be able to love your post or comments, but won’t be able to add comments to the conversation.

Make sure to leave out any details that may help people uncover your identity. Secret can be downloaded from the iTunes App Store for free.

Windows Phone Steals Second Place From iOS In Brazil

Windows Phone Steals Second Place From iOS In BrazilMicrosoft’s Windows Phone platform might not necessarily be the most popular smatphone platform at the moment, but it does have its loyal users, especially in emerging markets where we can see handsets like the Nokia Lumia 520 dominating. That being said, while in general iOS and Android are two of the more popular platforms at the moment, there are some markets in which Windows Phone is doing well, and one of them is Brazil where the IDC has recently confirmed that the Windows Phone platform has managed to overtake Apple’s iOS platform to steal the number two position.

Unfortunately despite Windows Phone having overtaken iOS in Brazil, it does not necessarily mean that the platform is catching up. The IDC reports that Android and iOS still account for over 90% of all smartphone shipments, 95.7% to be exact, in Q4 2013. Of course smartphone shipments does not necessarily translate into sales as the sales figures could always end up being significantly less than its shipping numbers, but it does indicate some level of demand. After all why would companies bother shipping to a market if there was no demand for their products, right? In the meantime what do you guys make these numbers? Is it all that surprising to see Windows Phone beat out iOS in emerging markets?

‘Confide’ App Lets You Send Messages That Self-Distruct

Need to tell someone something but can’t risk having the message saved or shown to anyone else? Then send it using Confide. It’s the latest in a string of apps that makes privacy and confidentiality its priority.

    confide ios app 620x366magnify

Confide lets users send encrypted messages that self-destruct after they’re read. It even has a swipe-to-read function that effectively prevents screenshots (which was an area that Snapchat had a lot of trouble with) and sends a notification to the sender once their message has been read. You can alert users that they have private messages waiting via email or SMS – though they’ll need to download the app to read them, of course.

You can download Confide for free from iTunes. The company has future plans for an Android version as well.
