Android is everywhere, commonly in our smartphones and tablets, and its slowly making its way into our cars and even onto our heads. In fact, recent market stats from Kantar Worldpanel reveal that Android’s share in the global smartphone market has surged almost nine percent in the last three months alone. Research group Gartner predicted today that in 2014, more than one billion Android devices will be shipped to consumers in all parts of the globe, registering a 26 percent year-on-year growth. The research group expects to see strongest demand in emerging markets.
Gartner also predicts how iOS and Macs will perform this year, over 344 million iOS and Mac machines are expected to be shipped in 2014, registering a 28 percent year-on-year increase when compared to the number of devices shipped last year. Furthermore, it is also predicted that Microsoft’s Windows OS will find its way into 360 million new devices as opposed to 328 million new devices in 2013. Global shipments of all devices are expected to cross 2.48 billion, climbing 7.6 percent year-over-year. Analysts at the research group believe smartphone sales will continue to increase in the new year, though the focus will move away from high-end smartphones to mid-range models, which carry much more appeal in many emerging markets around the world.

There’s already a Minecraft port for iOS devices, but a new iOS app called Blokify takes the addictive building mechanic of Mojang’s hit game and makes it much easier to get into. Blokify uses simple touch controls and easy access to different cubes, without the hassles of keeping an avatar alive.
Blokify was designed to be 3D modeling software for kids. First of all, its blocks are organized by themes. The app comes with a castle-themed set of blocks, with two other types – spaceships and pirates – available as optional purchases. It’s also intentionally bare of tools. Building consists of selecting and placing blocks – no more, no less. Users can then share their apps to other Blokify users. Even better, users can order a 3D printed replica right from the app itself.
According to Engadget, Blokify uses Cubify for print orders. But if you have access to a 3D printer, you can also export the 3D model from the app so you can print it yourself.
Blokify is free and is available from the App Store.
