Google Play and iOS don’t work with each other, but if you’ve bought movies on Google Play and want to watch them on your iPhone or iPad, CNET has a workaround. All you need is the YouTube app for iOS.
Some apps do one thing, and they do it well. Others have a host of clever, hidden uses that you might have never thought of on your own. Here are our favorite clever uses for popular apps.
In the battle of the smart bulbs, it would appear that the Lumen TL800 is about to be a big contender starting here in 2014. There’s been little damage done … Continue reading
We’re sure there are still plenty of users out there who are using some of Apple’s legacy products, such as second-generation iPhones or iPod touches, devices that unfortunately did not make the cut when it came to updating to any of Apple’s newer iOS updates, such as iOS 7. Unfortunately this is the case of older hardware, whereby the components might not have enough juice to support the newer visuals and features brought about by new software updates. We have seen this happen to computers in the past, so this is really no surprise. The good news is that if you still own said devices and would love to see some iOS 7 features brought to your iPhone or iPod touch, you might be in luck.
This is thanks to a group of hackers called whited00r who have been working to bring some of iOS 7’s features onto older iOS devices. The group has been responsible for the whited00r firmware which is basically a modified version of iOS 3.1.3 that mimics the look of newer iOS updates, and with the release of whited00r 7, the group has released a firmware that has been designed to emulate some of iOS 7’s features and looks, such as an iOS-styled camera app, multitasking view, and even Control Center! Of course your mileage might vary depending on the condition of your device, but individual features can be enabled/disabled if you find that it degrades your device’s performance. For more information about installing the custom firmware, hit up the group’s website for the details.

We already knew that the NSA had developed a taste for intercepting packages to put backdoors in electronics
The NSA developed in 2008 a software program for iPhones that can selectively and stealthily deliver data from iPhones to the NSA. The program is called DROPOUTJEEP. News of the … Continue reading
Yesterday we reported that a jailbreak for iOS 6.1.3 and 6.1.4 would be coming soon and sure enough it has. It looks like iH8sn0w worked pretty fast as the jailbreak is currently available to download by hitting up the jailbreak’s website. As we had mentioned earlier, the jailbreak appears to be limited to those running on Mac OS X at the moment, but according to its website, the Windows version of the jailbreak should be coming soon, although no word on when that will be, so if you’re running on Windows, you’ll have to find someone with a Mac if you want to jailbreak your iOS device.
You might be asking, why would anyone jailbreak an older build of iOS, right? Well not everyone is a fan of iOS 7. The new look has been criticized as being too bright, and in some instances, cartoony. In fact some criticisms have taken it to the next level with users complaining that the parallax effect in iOS 7 has given them motion sickness, which is why there are still those out there who refuse to update to iOS 7, but still have to have the latest jailbroken iOS 6 running on their devices. As it stands an untethered jailbreak for iOS 7 has recently been released as well, so for those running on either iOS 6.1.3/6.1.4 or iOS 7, you guys have some options.

It was just the other day that the untethered jailbreak for iOS 7 was released which is great news for those running on iOS 7 at the moment. Unfortunately despite Jony Ive’s attempts at remaking iOS and giving it a fresh new look, not everyone is appreciative of his efforts, with some calling it cartoony and too bright, and we have even heard reports of how the parallax effect is actually causing motion sickness. In fact we won’t be surprised if some actually preferred the skeumorphic look of iOS 6 and the good news is that if you wanted to downgrade to iOS 6 and still have a jailbroken iPhone, you’re in luck as hacker iH8sn0w has revealed that a jailbreak for iOS 6.1.3 and 6.1.4 is on its way.
There’s no telling when the jailbreak will be released, but presumably it will be soon, or at the very least it is progressing along nicely, thanks to a video (above) released by iH8sn0w which shows the jailbreak running on a fifth-generation iPod touch. Unfortunately iH8sn0w thinks that his jailbreak tool will most likely be a Mac-only release, meaning that those running on PCs might not be able to enjoy the fruits of his labor and might have to find someone with a Mac if they wish to jailbreak their phone, but we suppose it really depends on how badly you want to revert back to iOS 6. We’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for more information regarding the jailbreak’s release, so check back with us later for more updates.
