iOS Gets Demonstrated Using Stop Motion Animation

Skew from Skew on Vimeo.

Stop motion animation is fun to watch, especially if done right. If you have a minute or two to spare, perhaps this iOS stop motion animation is worth checking out. Put together by London-based university students, Carrie Bale, Doug Hindson, and Jooyoung Ryo, the animation has been dubbed “Skew”, an abbreviation of the term, “Skeuomorph”. Given that Apple, especially Jony Ive, made such a big deal about getting rid of skeuomorphism in iOS 7 in favor of a flatter and more minimalist theme, this particular video is rather ironic, although we suppose it would be harder to pull off if it were based on iOS 7. iOS Leads Android In Cyber Monday Online Shopping

iOS Leads Android In Cyber Monday Online Shopping

IBM recently released a report after tracking over 800 retail websites in the U.S. that iOS was far ahead of Android during the Thanksgiving and Black Friday shopping weekend. During the weekend, traffic generated by iOS devices accounted for 28.2 percent of all online traffic as opposed to 11.4 percent contributed by Android. It turns out that iOS did much better during Cyber Monday as well. A report released by IBM earlier today reveals that iOS lead Android in online shopping during Cyber Monday 2013.

Over 14.5 percent of all online sales this Cyber Monday are accounted for by iOS devices, whereas Android managed to generate just over 2.6 percent of all online sales. The percentages boil down to each iOS and Android user spending $120.29 and $106.70 per order, respectively. The report also reveals that 31.7 percent of all online traffic on Cyber Monday was generated by mobile devices, which equals to a 45 percent year-over-year increase. Of the entire web traffic on Cyber Monday, iOS managed to grab 22.4 percent while Android only managed to grab 9.1 percent. 19.7 percent of all online traffic was accounted for by smartphones while tablet users brought in 11.5 percent, but purchase volume from tablet users overtook those from smartphone users. It doesn’t come as a surprise that online sales on Cyber Monday this year increased 20.6 percent as opposed to the same time last year, even online spending on Black Friday 2013 surged to some $1.2 billion. No total figure of money spent on online purchases this Cyber Monday has emerged just yet.

They don’t have to be extremely long. In fact, there’s an app that lets you write short blurbs and share them with friends and random people when you’re done with them. That app is called Spine.

iOS Outdoes Android During The Thanksgiving And Black Friday Shopping Period

iOS Outdoes Android During The Thanksgiving And Black Friday Shopping PeriodDifferent people choose smartphone platforms for different reasons. Some choose it for its ease of use, some choose it for its looks, some choose it for the hardware that comes with it, and etc., and while those valid reasons, does it also mean that usage will differ from platform to platform? Well it seems that as far as online shopping is concerned, it would seem as though Apple’s iOS platform managed to beat out Android during the Thanksgiving and Black Friday periods.

This is according to IBM who claims that they have managed to track millions of transactions worth terabytes of data from about 800 US retail websites. According to their findings, “On average, iOS users spent $US127.92 per order on Black Friday compared to $US105.20 per order for Android users. iOS traffic reached 28.2 per cent of all online traffic, compared to 11.4 per cent for Android. iOS sales reached 18.1 per cent of all online sales, compared to 3.5 per cent for Android.”

This is admittedly impressive for iOS because last we heard, Android is clearly the dominating smartphone platform and has about 52% of the US smartphone market. However while clearly dominant, it seems that in terms of generating revenue for developers, iOS is clearly ahead as well. What do you guys think? Why does it seem that Apple users appear to prefer shopping online on their devices compared to Android?
