Spotify update lets iPad users browse curated playlists, follow their friends

Spotify listeners with iPads no longer have to look on with envy as their Android- and iPhone-touting friends browse curated playlists with ease. An update to Spotify’s iOS app has introduced the Browse feature to Apple tablet owners, letting them quickly pick tunes that suit their mood. They can also follow artists and friends without having to turn on their PC, and there’s both a smarter search engine as well as an improved look for playlists. There aren’t many upgrades for iPhone users, although the company promises that the follow, search and playlist refinements will “soon” reach smaller iOS devices. In the meantime, iPad fans can grab the improved app from the source link.

Back in 2011 a team of British security researchers discovered that iOS on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch was building a record of the device’s location history, Wi-Fi network and cell tower location data to be precise, data which would allow the device to track itself faster than a GPS alone could. The data was also being copied over the computer if the device was connected to it. This obviously caused a lot of security concerns, though the late Steve Jobs denied at that time that Apple was not deliberately collecting location information, rather the company attributed the behaviour to a bug which was fixed through a firmware update. A class action lawsuit was eventually filed against Apple which has now been dismissed.
The plaintiffs argued that iOS had allegedly been designed to transmit iOS devices’ location to third-party app developers without the approval or consent of the users, and that this transmission of location data harmed the device’s performance by taking up storage space and reducing battery life. Plaintiffs also argued that location information would be collected anyway even if users turned off Location Services in the Settings app, Apple said this was due to a bug and fixed it through iOS 4.3.3. Judge Lucy Koh ruled that the plaintiffs “failed to show that there is a genuine issue of material fact” which is why the court has concluded that there is no standing to pursue the claims against Apple.

MEGA Gets Official iOS App

Kim Dotcom’s MEGA, which has already exited from beta with an improved user interface earlier this month, now has its official iOS app released on the Apple App Store. This particular iOS app will be free, of course, where it will enable one to browse as well as manage one’s MEGA cloud storage account. Not only that, you will also be able to enjoy faster file transfers which will go some way in saving you time, with the added advantage of previewing and streaming supported document and file formats.
What are some of the other features of the iOS app? Well, you can now also be able to export and send file and folder links, in addition to importing file links into your account. As for additional features that have already been penciled for the future, we are looking at the very real possibility of photo synchronization and something that will have iPad owners grinning from ear to ear – iPad support, of course. Paramount Digital Entertainment has launched the classiest mobile game ever conceived. The game is called Anchorman 2: Scotchy Scotch Toss and it’s the “greatest app n the history of western civilization.” The point of the game is to toss ice cubes into Ron’s glass of scotch.
The game has over 300 one-liners recorded by Will Ferrell as Ron Burgundy. You can play against the computer (Ron) or play against friends. The game has four locations that are from the new film, including Ron’s RV, the Channel 4 News desk, Tino’s Jazz Bar and Ron’s apartment.
The game is available for iOS users for 99 cents on the App Store, and an Android version is coming soon.
“This game combines my two favorite things, scotch and playful exchanges with total strangers,” said Ron Burgundy.
