iOS Engineer VP Henri Lamiraux Leaves Apple

iOS Engineer VP Henri Lamiraux Leaves AppleFor the average user, Henri Lamiraux is probably a name not familiar to you, but if you love the iOS platform, chances are you have him to thank for some of that. According to reports, Lamiraux has recently retired from his position as iOS Engineering Vice President, a move which has been reportedly confirmed by Lamiraux to the folks at 9to5Mac. According to Lamiraux, iOS 7 would be his final project at Apple, his swan song, so to speak, and that he had retired following the release of iOS 7.0.3.

Lamiraux’s position in Apple was one that was respected and his roles included the development of the default iOS applications, feature implementation across the platform, bug fixes and feature distribution, along with managing of the iOS framework that gives developers features and the ability to create applications for the platform. Lamiraux was also well-known outside of Apple amongst developers, as he was typically seen during Apple’s WWDC event which was catered towards developers. His retirement is no doubt a loss for Apple and it will be interesting to see how the Cupertino company will move forward, although we guess Jony Ive and Craig Federighi will both be more than capable of picking up where he left off.
