When Apple introduced the latest version of OS X back in June, it did so with little bombast. Mavericks, as it’s called, is no iOS 7 in terms of radical overhauls, but it is full of subtle however powerful behind-the-scenes changes
Some users have noticed an update this week of their Safari desktop web browser app bringing about an OS X Mavericks-specific feature: Push Notifications for their Notifications Center. This feature was spoken about earlier this year at WWDC 2013 and has been active for many users working with the Beta build of OS X Mavericks […]
MasterCard has come up with a way to add more to the digital reading experience. You know how you flip through a magazine on your tablet and see something that you really like? Normally you’d take down the name of the product and then search online for buying options.
What MasterCard is introducing changes all that and reduces the process to a single step. The app is called ShopThis!, and it’ll let you buy the item that you want by tapping on the article or in the ads.
The item will be added to your cart, and you can then continue to flip through the contents of the magazine before finalizing the purchase and checking out.
The app works in conjunction with MasterCard’s MasterPass which offers digital and mobile payment solutions. In essence, it turns your smartphone or tablet into a credit card of sorts so you can shop, shop, shop.
ShopThis! was developed by MasterCard Labs’ incubation program, and you’ll be able to check out the first use of the technology in the November iOS issue of WIRED.

BlackBerry Announces 5 Million Download Milestone For BBM On iOS And Android
Posted in: Today's ChiliBBM for iOS and Android was finally re-released and last we heard, the app managed to sail to the number 2 position on the iTunes App Store (we hear that it is now number 1). Given the popularity the last time round, we expect that now with the app having its issues fixed and being all official, many would be eager to download it and according to the recent numbers released by BlackBerry, they claim that BBM for iOS and Android have managed to hit the 5 million mark in about 8 hours since it was launched. We’re not sure if iOS beat out Android for downloads, or vice versa, or it could have been an even 50-50.
It is also not clear as to whether this 5 million is talking about just downloads alone, or activations so far, because if it is the latter, we expect the total number to be much higher. As it stands those on iOS and Android who want to use the app will have to sign up and be put on a waiting list, presumably to prevent BlackBerry’s servers from overloading. It is unclear how long users will have to wait, but if you’re interested we guess you should probably get in line ASAP! With this surge in popularity, we have to wonder if it’s merely the novelty of using BBM on iOS and Android, or if it’s because it has the potential to overtake messaging apps such as WhatsApp, Line, Kik, and etc. What do you guys think?
BlackBerry Announces 5 Million Download Milestone For BBM On iOS And Android original content from Ubergizmo.
After what seemed like forever, BBM for iOS and Android has begun its rollout into the eager hands of iOS and Android users. In fact the app was released less than 24 hours ago but it seems that BBM for iOS has managed to climb its way up to the number 2 spot on the most popular apps in the US iTunes App Store’s Free category! Given BBM’s popularity and the number of iOS users out there who are either curious or eager to check out the app, this isn’t too surprising, and we have to wonder if given a few more hours or days, if it will be able to hit the number 1 position and maintain it.
With such popularity we can only imagine how many people have downloaded the app since its re-release, although as it stands BlackBerry has yet to reveal those numbers but we expect the Canadian company will be eager to boast those figures as soon as possible. While we have yet to get our hands on the messaging app, so far there has not been any reports of any major issues popping up, so presumably BlackBerry did a great job of patching up whatever problems that plagued the app the last time. For those who are about to download the app, you should note that there is a waiting list to help stagger the signups and prevent server overloads, but there is a workaround to that queue for those who are too impatient.

Posted in: Today's ChiliToday it would appear that BlackBerry is actually aiming to release their BBM chat apps for both the iOS and Android ecosystems, and we’ve got our hands on the both of them to show you what they’re all about. At its simplest, it would appear that BBM is coming to the public outside of the […]
If you happen to have friends who can be big blabbermouths, then you need Spoiler Shield. It’s a social media browser app that also functions as a shield of sorts.
The app works easily with Facebook and Twitter. In order to start using it, you’ll have to log in and allow access to both social media accounts. Once you’re connected, you can then choose from a list of sports teams or TV programs, and the app will automatically look for relevant keywords and filter out any potential spoiler posts from your feed.
Nothing will be spoiled for you the next time someone posts a status update about your favorite TV show or NFL or MLB team. Spoiler Shield will block that status and keep you ignorant about whatever has happened until you get a chance to see it for yourself.
Spoiler Shield is available for free on the iOS. An Android app is currently in the works.
