iOS 7 AppleCare employee training schedule further supports a September 10 event

AppleCare employees are said to have begun iOS 7 training. The details suggest the training process began today, but perhaps a bit more important is when they are expected to have everything completed. Flickr iOS App Updated With New Filters And More

Flickr iOS App Updated With New Filters And More

Yahoo today released a new update of its Flickr app for iOS. The update brings a host of new features such as filters and more camera tools, it also removes the paywall on some features that were previously only available to pro users. The app now allows users to apply filters before they actually take a photo. They can apply the filters to the live camera feed. Several new filters have also been added, users can also customize them if they want.

The new camera tool in Flickr iOS update include grids, focus lock, pinch to zoom and enhanced ability to manage exposure points. The paywall has been dropped on several pro features such as photo enhancing, cropping, adjusting color and tonal levels, sharpening and vignettes. As of now only the iOS app has been updated, the new features are yet to be added to Flickr’s Android app. There’s no saying when that will happen. Filters have become incredibly popular, particularly since Instagram became a massive hit. Most photography apps offer a unique set to users, Flickr upping its filter game is evidence that Yahoo wants it photo-sharing service to keep up with the times. Flickr for iOS is available as a free download from iTunes App Store.

BlackBerry landing page prematurely declares ‘BBM for Android and iPhone is here’

BlackBerry landing page prematurely declares 'BBM for Android and iPhone is here'

BlackBerry’s messaging tool doesn’t appear to be live for Android and iOS just yet, but if this new landing page is any indication, the service is just about ready to launch. A new dedicated page with the banner “BBM for Android and iPhone is here,” appeared under the company’s Canadian domain this morning, along with an inactive link to download BBM for Android and another for iPhone. Further down the page are references to additional features that won’t be included at launch, such as BBM Voice, BBM Video and screen sharing features, which instead are expected this fall. The page has since been removed, but it may reappear any minute/hour/day now at the source link below.

There’s a bit of insight flowing this week on when the next iPhone will be released, coming from a set of documents shared by T-Mobile USA employees on when they’ve got a call to work without question. Flickr for iOS update brings new filters, camera features and editing tools

DNP Flickr for iOS update brings new filters, camera features and editing tools

Given the stiff competition from other photo editing apps, Yahoo is approaching its Flickr renaissance with steely determination. Today’s update to the iOS app introduces a slew of new features designed to give it a fighting chance in a crowded market. Love ’em or hate ’em, filters remain all the rage, and Flickr is rolling out a handful of new ones with suitably hip names to please the masses. Now, users will also have the ability to see a live preview of the filter before they apply it to their photo. Also included in the update are several beefed up — and free — editing features, like color balance settings, level adjustments and a sharpening tool. Lastly, the camera function is getting a minor overhaul as well. You can now pinch to zoom, compose a shot with the handy dandy grid and lock your exposure and focus points. To get your hands on the update, head on over to the source link below.

Mailbox intros expanded search, signature and Chrome browser option

It might not be the desktop app you’ve been waiting for, but this newest Mailbox is still pretty notable for its new mobile features. Perhaps the most important addition is the ability to search for emails not saved locally on your iPhone or iPad. It’s far from perfect — we’re unable to dig for old conversations dating more than a few months back — but it’s better than not having it at all. Once you’ve updated the app, you’ll also notice new sections in the Settings page, including a signature box for each linked account and the ability to change the default browser from Safari to Chrome. There’s also an option to link your account to Dropbox, which acquired Mailbox in March, in exchange for 1GB of free space on the cloud service. Unfortunately, there’s no news on the Android app or the reported integration with other email services — but we’ll keep a weather eye on the horizon.

Pioneer announces DDJ-WeGO2 entry level DJ console with iOS support, onboard sound (video)

Pioneer announces DDJ-WeGO2 entry level DJ console with iOS support, onboard sound (video)

Pioneer’s original DDJ-WeGO was an effort to secure some of the entry-level DJ-dollars (it does pretty well at the other end already). This time around, there’s more of a focus on iOS, with a grip along the back that doubles as a stand for your iPhone or iPad (a lightning cable is included, too). This also means that as well as support for PC and Mac DJ software (Virtual DJ LE is bundled,) you can ride the fader with the fancy new Djay too. The rest of the hardware is pretty familiar ground, with two jog-wheels, effects and a tiny mixing console crammed-in to the small footprint. Learner DJs can improve their skills thanks to visual prompts provided by the LEDs (that flash with the beat etc.,) and USB power means one less cable to worry about. Importantly there’s onboard audio, so you get the full DJ / headphone monitoring experience, and a decent audio line out. Prospective spinners will have to wait until October to get one, at a cost of $429. A shade more than the predecessor, but you do get three spiffy full-body colors (red, white and black) to choose from.

iPhone 5S shows up on Gamestop’s website with trade-in pricing

We’ve heard a fair bit of rumors about the iPhone 5S, and now the handset has made another appearance, this time in a decidedly more official manner: on the Gamestop website. The seller of all things video games has put the iPhone up alongside official models sans a price but with trade-in pricing values. Gamestop […]

The Converted for iOS: A Conversion App That Gives You Context

The Converted for iOS: A Conversion App That Gives You Context

While this generally goes unsaid, the internet has become a huge crutch—but more than that, we’re pretty much blind without it. What do you do when you need to convert meters to feet? Hit a few buttons on your keyboard and bam, Google tells you all you need to know. But the thing is, you’re not really gaining anything from having a contextless answer spit at your eyeballs. The Converted can help where Google fails.
