Retina iPad Mini Wont Be Announced On October 22nd [Analyst]

The possibility of the next generation iPad mini having a Retina display has been discussed, affirmed and refuted multiple times over the past couple of months. We’ve seen different analysts, news outlets and unofficial sources voicing their own opinions, yet no one knows for sure if Apple is really going to unveil a Retina iPad mini at its iPad event on October 22nd. Apple actually hasn’t even confirmed its iPad event, it is just rumored to make the announcements on the aforementioned date. No invitations have been rolled out yet, no confirmations have been made so far.

In a note to investors today, analyst Brian White of Cantor Fitzgerald predicts that no Retina iPad mini is going to be announced at the event. He expects Apple to announce an iPad mini with minor changes to the internal hardware and predicts a Retina iPad mini launch for the first quarter of next year. White says that the iPad 5 is going to be the highlight of Apple’s event, as it is going to come with major design changes as well as substantial hardware upgrades. The analyst’s report is contradictory to the one by a reputed news outlet, which said last week that we’ll see a Retina display touting iPad mini on October 22nd. Hopefully Apple will kill the confusion at the event, lets keep our fingers crossed.

iPad 5 anticipation high ahead of October 22nd Apple event

iPad Mini Found To Have The Fastest Touchscreen

iPad Mini Found To Have The Fastest TouchscreenWhen we interact with our smartphones or tablets, we don’t really notice how long it takes for an app or action to happen once we touch it as the response time is usually in milliseconds, but for those who are curious as to which tablet has the fastest touchscreen, well the folks at Agawi have decided to find out themselves by running several tests, with the results coming back and deciding that Apple’s iPad mini hash the fastest touchscreen of all the popular tablets out there in the market today.

According to their results, the iPad mini had an average response time of 75 milliseconds. Coming in second would be the fourth-gen iPad with a response time of 81 milliseconds, followed by the NVIDIA Shield console with 92 milliseconds. Next would be the Microsoft Surface RT, the Kindle Fire HD (2013 edition), the Nexus 7, and finally the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3. Like we said, for the most part the average user probably would not be able to tell the difference between the delays, but for those who are concerned about the numbers and love benchmarks, we guess the iPad mini is the clear winner, something to think about the next time you’re deciding on which tablet to get.

Retina iPad Mini And Apple iTV Might Come Next Year [Analyst]

Lately there has been all sorts of speculation about upcoming Apple products. The next products expected to come out of Cupertino include new iPads, a smartwatch and a full fledged television set. Previous rumors suggest that the iPad 5 and iPad mini 2 with Retina Display might be unveiled on October 15th, though recent reports claim that Retina iPad mini might not be announced until 2014. Cantor Fitzgerald analyst Brian White, who met with various suppliers in China and Taiwan, seems to have heard the same from a number of sources.

Poor yield rates of Retina Display panels for iPad mini is said to be the reason why iPad mini might not be unveiled alongside the iPad 5 on October 15th, which remains an unconfirmed date as of now. White says that the people he met with said nothing about the iPad mini, while they talked at length about the iPad 5 and the “big changes” that it is expected to come with. Based on this, White believes that the Retina iPad mini might not be coming out this year. Sources reiterated most of what we already know about the iPad 5, that it will be thinner, lighter and its design will be similar to the existing iPad mini. A source White spoke to claims that Apple’s HDTV isn’t “ready for primetime” yet, the person believes that Apple will unveil it sometime next year. Apple has long been rumored to be working on a television set of its own, so far the company hasn’t said if such a product is in the pipeline.
