Apple Now Allowing Walk-In Retina iPad Mini Purchases

Apple Now Allowing Walk In Retina iPad Mini PurchasesThe Retina iPad mini is no doubt one of Apple’s more popular iPads, especially given that its crams a rather high resolution into a smaller display, giving it a pretty high pixel density that results in sharper images. Last we heard the tablet was facing backorders and was reportedly also facing supply constraints, apparently due to issues with the display. Whatever the case is, customers were not allowed to just walk into an Apple store to purchase the device, unless they had pre-ordered it online first.

Well the good news is that if you were thinking about getting a tablet, Apple has revealed that you are now able to walk into an Apple store and just purchase the device outright without having to pre-order it via Apple’s website first. The reason behind the previous restrictions was apparently due to supply concerns and worry that they might not be able to meet demand. While Apple’s online store states 5-10 day shipping estimates for WiFi models, an increase from 3-5 days, the loosening of these restrictions for walk-in customers would suggest that perhaps Apple has a handle on things, or are at least confident they have enough stock. However just to be safe, it would be advisable that customers check online for Personal Pickup options to avoid disappointment.

US Carriers Reporting Cellular Retina iPad Mini Units Are Backordered

US Carriers Reporting Cellular Retina iPad Mini Units Are BackorderedThe Retina iPad mini, safe to say, is probably one of the more anticipated tablets of 2013. Given the success of the original iPad mini, we can only imagine that bundled with a Retina display, how much popular it would be. Well it turns out that it is popular, unsurprisingly, but popular enough to the extent where carriers are reporting that they are facing some shortages when it comes to Retina iPad mini stock, especially those that support cellular data. This is according to CNET who reports that carriers such as Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile are seeing estimated shipping dates slip to December.

Interestingly enough, if one were to place their order via Apple’s website, the shipping times aren’t as bad, so perhaps these carriers did not place enough orders to begin with. Alternatively it could also be a sign that there might be some production issues with the Retina iPad mini like we had heard about in the past, where LCD burn-in and low yields could be what is hindering the supply of the tablet to eager customers. Given that Apple had reportedly cut production of its iPhone 5c in favor of the iPhone 5s, might Apple consider something similar with the Retina iPad mini and the iPad Air as well?

iPad Mini With Retina Display Falls To MP7

I am not quite sure whether there is a point to blending recently released devices. Will the kind of traffic pulled by the site for such stories be able to compensate for the cost of the devices, not to mention having to make sure that the blender is still in good working condition after that? Perhaps not, but it can be seen as some form of publicity. Why not have a “Will it flatten?” site, where a steamroller goes over whatever device you place on it? That is pretty much a foregone conclusion, Gorilla Glass or not, and so is the idea of taking a high powered rifle or firearm and taking pot shots at the device. We have seen a Sony PS4 fall victim to a .50 caliber rifle, and now here we are with a video of a recently released iPad mini with Retina display that was fired upon by a H&K MP7A1, thanks to a certain Richard Ryan.

The slow motion action shots are definitely something worth checking out, but that is a waste of a perfectly good iPad mini with Retina display, don’t you think so? Especially after this tablet managed to hold its own against Ryan’s conducted drop tests.

iPad Mini With Retina Display Found To Display Less Colors Than iPad AirAre you planning on picking up the iPad min with Retina display?
