Retina iPad Mini Reportedly Face Image Retention Problems

Retina iPad Mini Reportedly Face Image Retention ProblemsApple’s new iPad mini was quietly launched just last week and we’re sure given the Retina display and the iPad mini’s portability that many Apple fans went out there to get their hands on the device as soon as possible. However it turns out that being an early-adopted might not be such a good idea after all, especially since we are hearing reports in which several Retina iPad mini users have complained of image retention issues with their tablets.

For those unfamiliar with image retention, it’s basically where parts of previously displayed windows are still visible on the screen even after closing it, or while you’re running a completely different app. This problem is not new to Apple and has been spotted before on the original Retina MacBook Pro. The good news is that this is not a permanent problem and the images will eventually disappear after several minutes, but can be still annoying and obviously no one wants their brand new tablet to come plagued with issues right out of the box, right?

Apple previously allowed replacements of MacBook Pro units for customers suffering from the problem, so if you think your iPad mini with Retina display is suffering from image retention issues, you might want to take your unit back and see if Apple will replace it for you as well.

iPad mini Retina Display review – the holy grail of tablets

It’s the iPad mini we’ve been waiting for: Apple’s smaller tablet that, thanks to a Retina display and brand new A7 processor, now punches above its size and makes a legitimate alternative not only for compact-screen Android and Windows rivals, but Apple’s own iPad Air too. That Apple has achieved all that with minimal compromises […]

Retina iPad Mini Review: A Sight for Sore Eyes

Retina iPad Mini Review: A Sight for Sore Eyes

Last year’s iPad mini was very nearly perfect in every way, except the one you needed it to be. Its display was porridge next to the bright retina cornucopia of its bigger iPad brother and its tiny tablet competitors. This year? We feast.

Retina iPad Mini In-Store Tracker Tool Is Live

Retina iPad Mini In Store Tracker Tool Is LiveWe know the feeling of going to the Apple store, asking for a product, only to find out it’s out of stock, and have this experience repeated in the next 2-3 stores you visit. This is why when the website Apple-tracker.com was live, it made things a lot more convenient. Apple did not appreciate this and has since ordered the website to be shutdown. Well it looks like Apple could be issuing a new shutdown notice in the near future as a new tool has made its way online, this time to help Retina iPad mini customers find out which store has the tablet in stock.

Oddly enough this tool is being hosted on Seaturtle.org, which we guess is a way to help hide it by keeping its name discreet and obscure, and definitely not as obvious as Apple-tracker.com. The website will offer users a grid in which it lists the availability of Retina iPad minis for every Apple retail store in the US. This tool also appears to be crowd sourced, meaning that if an area runs out of stock or if the information is unavailable, users will be able to edit the individual cells accordingly. As it stands walk-in sales are not allowed until supply has been stabilized, so you’d have to make a personal pickup.

In any case as it stands, carriers such as AT&T and Verizon have announced that they are backorderd on the Retina iPad mini, so hopefully this tool will be able to help out with those looking to get their hands on the tablet.

AT&T And Verizon’s Retina iPad Mini With Cellular Backordered As Far As 28 Days

AT&T And Verizons Retina iPad Mini With Cellular Backordered As Far As 28 DaysThe iPad mini with Retina display was released a couple of days ago and according to previous reports, there was a good chance that would-be customers could face delays in getting their device due to production issues which Apple is working hard to solve. Well the bad news is that if you did not already order your iPad mini with cellular capabilities from either Verizon or AT&T, you might be in for a wait as both carriers have indicated that they are backordered on the cellular versions of the iPad mini with Retina display.

As far as Verizon is concerned, they state that they expect the iPad mini with Retina display to ship by the 25th of November, meaning that customers have a little under two weeks of waiting. However for AT&T, it seems that their subscribers are in for an even longer wait as the carrier has listed that the tablet with cellular capabilities will ship in 21-28 business days, meaning that if you were planning on getting this as a Christmas present, you could be cutting it pretty damn close. It is expected that Apple might have trouble meeting demand for the holiday season, but if you’re not too fussed and don’t mind waiting, hopefully this should clear up in the next month or two.

Retina iPad Mini First Impressions: That’s More Like It

Retina iPad Mini First Impressions: That's More Like It

The original iPad mini featured a flawless design undermined by an unforgivably subpar display, an antique frame wasted on fingerpaint. Good news. This year’s iPad mini is, after a short time playing with it, picture perfect.

Retina iPad mini gutted by iFixit

You’ll find a rather familiar set of bits inside the iPad mini with Retina display this week from the likes of iFixit. The folks notoriously attached to the term “teardown” have found this machine to work with a repairability rating of 2 out of 10 – not so fantastic – but the whole organization of […]

iPad Mini With Retina Display Taken Apart

iPad Mini With Retina Display Taken ApartHave you picked up an iPad mini with Retina display for yourself? I am quite sure that you are pretty happy with it, and will most probably have gotten a fair number of accessories to keep it well protected against knocks, scratches and drops. Of course, taking apart your iPad mini with Retina display might not be the exact cup of tea or you, so why not let someone else do the “dirty” job on your behalf? That is exactly what the folks over at iFixit has done, where they have torn apart the relatively tiny tablet.

The iPad mini with Retina display is far from a smaller version of the iPad Air, as it comes with a decent 24.3Whr, dual-cell battery which would be a whole lot better than its 16.3Whr unit that can be found in the original iPad mini. The A7 processor underneath the hood will also be similar to that found in the iPhone 5s. The final score stands at 2 out of 10, where 10 would mean that it is extremely easy to repair. According to iFixit, chances are you will not replace any of the parts on your own, although the LCD and glass have not been fused together since they are able to be replaced independently. As for the battery, it is not soldered to the logic board or other components, but do bear in mind that the screws are extremely tiny, since they are easily misplaced.
